2024 Problem Statements

To date, CTA has kicked off 3 pilot projects so far:

Customer Experience: Two pilots with Global Display Solutions and Papercast to install up to 10 e-paper screens each (for a total of up to 20 screens) at bus stops across Chicago. These screens will display countdowns to upcoming buses, service alerts, and more.

Safety: Pilot with STV and Derq to implement Camera-based AI detection of Right-of-Way Intrusions at two stations on the ‘L’. These cameras will automatically identify people and large objects that enter the right of way and alert staff at CTA's Control Center so they can respond quickly.

Right-of-way intrusion detection How can we automatically detect people or large objects on the tracks to enable swift intervention?

Bus stop asset monitoring How can CTA automatically monitor the condition of physical assets at bus stops or their use over time?

Bus real-time arrival information signage expansion How can CTA expand real-time arrival and alert signage to bus stops?
