Extra CTA service will be provided for the 18th Annual Chicago Gospel Music Festival in Grant Park Friday, June 7, through Sunday, June 9. Performances will be held at the Petrillo Music Shell, on Jackson at Columbus Drives, all three evenings.
During the festival and for other summer events, the CTA will operate longer trains nightly on the Brown Line, Friday and Saturdays nights on the Green Line, and Sundays on the Red Line. There will also be extra customer assistants at the Adams/Wabash 'L' station to help customers using Green, Orange and Brown Line trains with information about service and fare regulations until late each night.
To reach the festival while Jackson is closed for construction east and west of Michigan, customers exiting the 'L' at Adams/Wabash should go north on Wabash to Monroe and east into Grant Park. Red and Blue Line customers should exit subway trains at Monroe and go east on Monroe to the park.
Besides 'L' service, CTA's #6 Jeffery Express buses and most other bus routes entering the downtown area will also serve the Gospel Music Festival. Customers arriving on a northbound #6 bus can exit on Michigan at Congress, cross the viaduct to Columbus, and go north to Jackson. Outbound #6 buses make stops south on State from Washington to Congress. They then go east to Michigan and south to Balbo, where they enter Grant Park for express trips south on Lake Shore Drive.
#6 Jeffery Express buses serve downtown until 1:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday nights, and until 12:30 a.m. on Sundays, operating every 10 minutes or less most of the day and evening.
