Events Affecting CTA Service

Slow Zone Work
Blue Line Single Track In Effect
A three-phase single track will be in effect between the California and Addison stations on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line from 11 p.m. Friday, September 28 until 11 a.m. Saturday, September 29 and again from 10 p.m. Saturday night,September 29 until 10 a.m. Sunday, September 30.
From 11 p.m. Friday, September 28 until 2 a.m. Saturday, September 29, all customers at the Addison and Belmont stations must board on the northbound side of the platform.
From 2 a.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday, September 29, all customers at the Addison, Belmont and Logan Square stations must board on the northbound side of the platform.
From 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, September 29, all customers at the Addison and Belmont stations must board on the northbound side of the platform.
From 10 p.m. Saturday, September 29 to 2 a.m. Sunday, September 30, customers boarding at Belmont and Addison stations will board on the southbound side of the platform.
From 2 a.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday, September 30, customers boarding at the Logan Square, Belmont and Addison stations will board on the southbound side of the platform.
From 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday, September 30, customers boarding at the Belmont and Addison stations will board on the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Red Line Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks Next Week
While work is under way to eliminate slow zones, Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak/Chinatown station and the Fullerton station will reroute to the elevated tracks from 11 p.m. Friday, September 28 until 1 a.m. Monday, October 1. Elevated stations are located within a block of Red Line subway stations in the Loop. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the 95th and Cermak/Chinatown stations.
Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Saturday morning from 1a.m. to 5 a.m. and on Sunday morning from 12:50 a.m. to 7:10a.m.
In addition to running Red Line trains on the elevated tracks, CTA will operate three bus shuttles to help customers make their normal connections.
Bus shuttle service will operate between the Clark/Division station and North/Clybourn station, stopping at the Sedgwick Brown Line station where customers may board Red Line trains.
Bus shuttle service also will operate from the Grand/State and Chicago/State stations to the Chicago/Franklin Brown Line station where customers may board Red Line trains.
Additional bus shuttle service will operate between Jackson/State, Jackson/Wabash, Harrison/State, and Roosevelt/Wabash where customers may board Red Line trains.
Beginning Monday, October 1 through Wednesday, October 3 southbound trains that normally operate through the subway between the Fullerton station and the Cermak/Chinatown station will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. each night until to 5 a.m. each morning.
On Thursday, October 4 and Friday, October 5, northbound trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak/Chinatown and the Fullerton station will reroute to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

Daytime Reroute at Fullerton This Weekend
A reroute will be in effect on the Red and Brown lines at Fullerton station from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, September 29.
Southbound Red Line customers will board trains on the Brown Line side of the platform at Fullerton. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers will board trains on the southbound platform where southbound Red Line trains normally stop.
During the same hours, northbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Wellington. Northbound customers who wish to exit at Wellington should ride to Belmont and take a southbound train to Wellington. Northbound customers who wish to board at Wellington should take a southbound train to Fullerton and board a northbound train.
Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.
CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Reroute on Red Line This Weekend
From 8 p.m. Saturday, September 29 until 8 a.m. Sunday, September 30 northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted at Addison due to construction. Duringthis time, northbound trains will be unable to stop at Addison.
Northbound customers wishing to exit at Addison should ride to Sheridan and take a southbound train back to Addison. Northbound customers who wish to board at Addison should take a southbound train to Belmont and board a northbound train.
Southbound service is not affected.
Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Belmont
Southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Brown Line tracks at Belmont from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday, September 28 and again during the same hours at the same location Monday, October 1 through Friday, October 5. Red Line customers should board on the Brown Line side of the platform at Belmont.
Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Sheridan
Northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Line tracks at Sheridan from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 29 and againfrom 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the same location Sunday, September 30.
Northbound and southbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Line side of the platforms.
Single Track in Effect on Blue Line Forest Park Branch
A single track will be in effect between the UIC-Halsted and LaSalle stations on the Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line from 11 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the next morning beginning Tuesday, October 2 throughThursday morning, October 4.
From 11 p.m. Tuesday, October 2 until 4 a.m. Wednesday, October 3 customers at the UIC-Halsted, Clinton and LaSalle stations will board and exit all trains on the southbound side of the platform.
From 11 p.m. Wednesday, October 3 until 4 a.m. Thursday, October 4 customers must board and exit all trains on the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Buses Reroute for Construction
State Street will be closed between Washington and Randolph for construction work at Block 37 from 9 p.m. Friday, September 28 until 6 a.m. Monday, October1.
Fourteen CTA bus routes will be rerouted to adjacent streets. The routes include:

Halsted Bridge Closed over Chicago River
The Halsted Bridge over the north branch of the Chicago River will be closed from
9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 28.
#8 Halsted buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, Chicago, Larrabee, Crosby, Division then return to Halsted and resume the regular route.
Cottage Grove Closed for Construction
Cottage Grove will be closed at 37th Street for construction. #4 Cottage Grove buses will operate in both directions via Cottage Grove, Pershing Road,King Drive, 35th then return to Cottage Grove and resume the regular route.
Helicopter Lifts Close Chicago and Ashland
Chicago will be closed between Halsted and Larrabee from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. Saturday, September 29. #66 Chicago buses will reroute in both directions via Chicago, Halsted, Division, Crosby, Larrabee then return to Chicago andresume the regular route.
From 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. Saturday, September 29, Ashland will be closed between Pearson and Chicago. #9 Ashland buses will operate via Ashland, Chicago, Damen, Division, then return to Ashland and resume the regular route.
Buses Reroute for 5K Run
Balbo will be closed between Michigan and Lake Shore Drive and Columbus will be closed between Balbo and Roosevelt from 8:30 a.m. until approximately12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 29 for The Race for the Cure 5K Run/Walk.
Buses along routes #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #12 Roosevelt, #14 Jeffery Express, #126 Jackson, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan and #147 Outer Drive Express will reroute to adjacent streets around the area of the parade.
Pulaski Bus Terminal Temporarily Closed
The bus terminal at 81st and Pulaski that is served by the 53A South Pulaski route is temporarily closed until 4 p.m. Friday, September 29 due to repairwork. Customers will board and exit buses outside the terminal.
CTA Provides Convenient Service for College Football Game
From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, CTA will operate longer trains on the Purple Line for the Northwestern University versus Michigan game at Ryan Field. Game time is 11 a.m. The stadium is located approximately three blocks fromthe Central station.
CTA Provides Service to Genesis Concert
The Chicago Transit Authority will operate its #19 United Center Express buses for the Genesis concert at the United Center beginning Tuesday, October 2through Thursday, October 4.
The concerts start at 8 p.m. each night. The #19 buses will begin their trips south on Michigan from Chicago Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Buses will operate approximately every 12 minutes until the last bus leaves Michigan/Chicago at 7 p.m.
For one hour after the concert ends, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison at Wood near Gate 3, departing approximately every 15 minutes.
Columbus Bridge Closed Next Week
The Columbus Bridge over the main branch of the Chicago River will be closedfrom 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2.
Northbound #124 Navy Pier buses will travel over the regular route to Lower Wacker then will operate via Lower Wacker, Lake Shore Drive to Illinois and resume the regular route.
Southbound #124 Navy Pier buses will travel over the regular route to Lake Shore Drive and then will operate via Lake Shore Drive, Lower Wacker then return to Columbus and resume the regular route.
