Slow Zone Work
Blue Line Service from Jefferson Park to Harlem Temporarily Suspended This Weekend for Slow Zone Work
As work continues, rail service between the Jefferson Park and Harlem Blue Line stations will be temporarily suspended from
9 p.m. Friday, November 16 to 3 a.m. Monday,
November 19 to replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes. Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service between the two stations.
In addition, to help speed work, the inner most eastbound lane of traffic will be closed on the Kennedy Expressway from Jefferson Park to Harlem from 10 p.m. Friday night until 6 a.m. Sunday morning. On recent weekends, lane closures have occurred overnight, but this weekend the closure will continue all day Saturday, November 17 and into Sunday morning.
From midnight Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday and again from midnight Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, two inbound lanes will be closed to traffic.
Motorists should expect additional traffic congestion throughout the area.

Red Line Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks
Southbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Fullerton and Cermak/Chinatown stations will reroute to the elevated tracks beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, November 19 until 5 a.m. the following morning, then again from 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 20 until 5 a.m. the following morning.
Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the 95th Street and Cermak/Chinatown stations. Rerouted Red Line trains will stop at the following elevated stations: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick.
Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Sheridan
Southbound Red Line trains will operate on the southbound Purple Express tracks at Sheridan from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, and Sunday, November 18.
During these times southbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform.
CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
Northbound Red Line service is not affected.
Next Week
From approximately 10:30 a.m. each day until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, Wednesday, November 21 and Friday, November 24, northbound Red Line trains will operate on the northbound Purple Express tracks at Sheridan. During these times, northbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform.
CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
Southbound service is not affected.
Other Events Affecting Service
Saturday Reroutes of Red and Brown LinesDue to construction work associated with the Fullerton, Diversey and Belmont stations, northbound Red and Brown line trains will be rerouted to operate on the southbound Red Line tracks at Armitage and Belmont on Saturday, November 17 from
6 a.m. until 5 p.m.
All Red Line customers and northbound Brown Line customers will board and exit trains on the southbound Red Line platform.During this time, northbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Wellington station; therefore, customers who want to exit a Wellington should continue to ride north to Belmont and then take a southbound train to Wellington. Northbound customers who wish to board at Wellington should take a southbound train to Fullerton and board a northbound train.
Customers are asked to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Brown Line Single Track This Weekend
A two-phase single track will be in effect between the Sedgwick and Chicago stations on the Brown Line from 5 a.m. until
3:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17, and again from 6:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, November 18.
From 5 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 17, southbound customers at the Sedgwick and Chicago stations must board trains on the northbound platform. From 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17, northbound customers at the Sedgwick and Chicago stations must board trains on the southbound platform.
On Sunday, November 18 from 6 a.m. until noon, northbound customers at the Sedgwick and Chicago stations must board trains on the southbound. From noon until 5 p.m., southbound customers at the Sedgwick and Chicago stations must board on the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are asked to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Howard Station Construction
The southbound platform at the Howard Red Line station will be temporarily out of service for construction work from 11 p.m. Friday, November 16 until 4 a.m. Monday, November 19. Customers must board trains on the northbound platform.
Single Tracks in Effect on Dan Ryan Branch of Red Line
A single track will be in effect between 95th and 87th stations on the Dan Ryan Branch of the Red Line from 11 p.m. Friday, November 16 until 6 a.m. Saturday, November 17.
Northbound customers at 87th must exit and board trains on the southbound side of the platform.
Sunday
A single track will be in effect between Cermak and Roosevelt on the Dan Ryan Branch of the Red Line from 6 a.m. until
4 p.m. on Sunday, November 18. Northbound customers at Cermak must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.
Next Week
A single track will be in effect between 63rd Street and 69th Street stations on the Dan Ryan Branch of the Red Line from 11 p.m. each night until 4:30 a.m. each following morning beginning Monday, November 19 through Thursday morning, November 22.
Southbound Red Line customers boarding at 63rd Street must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.
Daytime Reroute at Belmont Next Week
Southbound Red Line trains will temporarily reroute to the Brown Line tracks at Belmont Monday, November 19 through Wednesday, November 21 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. " each day. Southbound Red Line customers must board on the Brown Line side of the platform.
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line's O'Hare Branch Next Week
A single track will be in effect between Cumberland and Harlem stations from 9 p.m. Monday, November 19 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, November 20. Southbound customers boarding at Harlem must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform.
A single track will be in effect from 10 p.m. Tuesday, November 20 until 4 a.m. Wednesday, November 21 between the Addison and Belmont stations on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line. Southbound customers boarding at Addison and Belmont must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. Northbound service is not affected.
Late Night Single Tracks in Effect on Blue Line's Forest Park Branch
A single track will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 17 between the Cicero and Austin stations on the Forest Park branch of the Blue Line. Northbound customers at Austin must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. Southbound service is not affected.
Next Week
A single track will be in effect between LaSalle and Racine on the Forest Park branch of the Blue Line from midnight Wednesday, November 21 until 6 a.m. Thursday, November 22. Southbound customers at the LaSalle, Clinton and UIC-Halsted stations must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. Northbound service is not affected.
Buses Reroute for Magnificent Lights Festival Saturday
Ten CTA bus routes will be detoured from North Michigan Avenue provided on Saturday, November 18 for the annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.
Reroutes are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. but may occur earlier if crowds warrant. Reroutes are scheduled to end at approximately 8 p.m.
The festival motorcade parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. from Rush and Oak and will travel south on Michigan from Oak to Wacker. A fireworks display will take place following the parade between the Michigan and Columbus bridges over the Chicago River
The bus routes affected by the parade are the #3 King Drive, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #36 Broadway, #66 Chicago, #124 Navy Pier, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan. Affected buses will be detoured to streets adjacent to the parade route.
To accommodate parade spectators, more frequent service will be provided on the #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #20 Madison, #22 Clark, #36 Broadway, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer and #66 Chicago routes.
Longer trains will operate on the Red, Blue, Brown and Orange lines.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Holiday Hours in Effect on #10 Museum of Science & Industry Bus Route
With the exception of a few select dates, hours of operation on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry route will be extended from Friday, November 16 through Sunday, January 6, 2008. During this time, the Museum of Science & Industry will open at9:30 a.m. Closing time will vary.
Service on the #10 will begin operating at 8:55 a.m. from Chestnut/Lake Shore Drive each morning and the last bus will depart from the Museum of Science & Industry approximately 40 minutes after the museum closes.
The #10 will not operate from Monday, November 19 through Wednesday, November 21 and Wednesday, January 2 through Friday, January 4. The museum is closed on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25.
Bus Stop Changes
Several CTA bus stops will be eliminated or relocated effective Wednesday, November 21. Stops along the following routes are affected:
#28 Stony IslandThe northbound stop located at 52nd and Lake Park will be eliminated.
#43 43rd St.
The near side westbound and eastbound stops at 43rd at Drexel will be eliminated. The eastbound stop at 43rd at Berkley will be relocated from a near side stop to a far side stop.
#47 47th St.
The eastbound stop at 47th at Homan will be relocated from a near side stop to a far side stop.
#53A ? South Pulaski
The northbound stops on Pulaski at 42nd, 43rd, 44th, 45th and 46th streets will be relocated from near side to far side stops.
The southbound stops on Pulaski at 44th, 45th and 47th streets will be relocated from near side to far side stops.
#54B ? South Cicero
The northbound and southbound stops on Cicero at Pershing will be relocated from near side to far side stops. The southbound stop on Cicero at 4000 will be eliminated.
#63 63rd St.
The westbound stop on 63rd at Cottage Grove will be relocated from a near side to a far side stop.
New westbound and eastbound near side stops will be placed on 63rd at Peoria.
#70 Division
The eastbound stops on Division at Milwaukee and Cleaver will be relocated from a near side to a far side stop.
The eastbound stop on Division at Noble will be eliminated.
Bus Stop Relocation
Beginning Friday, November 16, the westbound near side bus stop on 63rd at Lawndale that is serviced by #63 63rd buses will be relocated to a far side stop.
