Slow Zone Work
Northbound Red Line Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks Next Week

While work is under way to eliminate slow zones, northbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton stations will reroute to the elevated tracks from 12:01 a.m. Sunday morning,March 16 until 4 a.m. Monday, March 17. Elevated stations are located within a block of Red Line subway stations in the Loop. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th and Cermak-Chinatown stations.

Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Fullerton and Cermak/Chinatown: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Sunday morning from 12:50 a.m. to 7:10 a.m.

Next Week

Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th and Cermak-Chinatown stations.

Red and Brown Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Fullerton
From 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 15 until 6 p.m. Sunday, March 16,
southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to the northbound Red Line tracks at Fullerton while crews conduct slow zone elimination work.

Southbound Red and Brown Line customers at Fullerton will board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red Line customers must board and exit trains where northbound Brown Line trains stop.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Wellington. Southbound Brown Line customers who wish to exit at Wellington should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Wellington. Customers boarding at Wellington who wish to head southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Next Week
From 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, March 17 through Thursday, March 20, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to the northbound Red Line tracks at Fullerton while crews conduct slow zone work.

During this time, southbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains on the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red Line customers must board and exit trains where northbound Brown Line trains stop.

During the same hours, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Wellington. Southbound Brown Line customers who wish to exit at Wellington should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Wellington. Customers boarding at Wellington who wish to head southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Daytime Single Track in Effect on Brown Line This Weekend
A single track will be in effect on the Brown Line between the Paulina and Addison stations from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 15.

Southbound customers at the Paulina and Addison stations must board and exit trains on the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Northbound Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Sheridan
Northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the Purple Express tracks from 7 a.m. until
3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15 and again during the same hours on Sunday, March 16.

During these times, northbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Next Week
Northbound Red Line trains at Sheridan will operate on the northbound Purple Express tracks from 10:50 a.m.
until 2 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, March 18 through Friday, March 21.

During these times, northbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Daytime Reroute at Belmont
Southbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to the Brown Line tracks at Belmont from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day through Friday, March 21.

Southbound Red Line customers at Belmont must board and exit trains on the Brown Line side of the platform.

Other Events Affecting Service
Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of Blue Line This Weekend

A single track will be in effect between the Damen and Grand stations from 11 p.m. Friday, March 14 until 6 a.m. Saturday, March 15.

Southbound customers at the Division, Grand and Chicago stations must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform.

Single Track in Effect Between Blue Line's Grand and LaSalle Stations
A single track will be in effect between the Grand and LaSalle stations on the Blue Line from 11 p.m. Saturday, March 15 until 6 a.m. Sunday, March 16.

Southbound customers at the Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe and Jackson stations must board and exit Blue Line trains on the northbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Southbound Red Line Trains Reroute to Brown Line Track at Fullerton for Switch Test
Southbound Red Line trains will operate on Brown Line tracks at the Fullerton and Belmont stations from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, March 14 and Sunday, March 16 while the CTA continues to test switching mechanisms in preparation for the next phase of three-track operation.

Southbound Red Line customers must board and exit on the same side of the platform (west) as southbound Brown Line customers.

Normal southbound service resumes at 5 a.m. Saturday and Monday mornings.

CTA is testing track switches each weekend through March 30, in addition to training operators, switchmen, towermen and supervisors on the planned routing of trains for southbound operation.

Daytime Reroute at Fullerton
A reroute will be in effect at Fullerton station from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day beginning Monday, March 17 through Friday, March 21.

Northbound Red Line customers must board and exit trains on the Brown Line side of the platform at Fullerton.

Howard Station Construction
The southbound platform at the Howard Red Line station will be temporarily out of service for construction work from 11 p.m. Friday, March 14 until 4 a.m. Monday, March 17. Customers must board trains from the northbound platform.

#201 Central/Ridge buses will temporarily reroute from 7 p.m. Friday, March 14 until5 a.m. Monday, March 17. Buses will operate via Ashland, Howard, Rogers, Sheridan, Howard and Rogers to Howard via the Howard Terminal. Customers will board westbound buses at Ashland/Howard.

Next Week
#201 Central/Ridge buses will temporarily reroute from 7 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, March 17 through Thursday morning, March 20.

Buses will operate via Ashland, Howard, Rogers, Sheridan, Howard and Rogers to Howard via the Howard Terminal. Customers will board westbound buses at Ashland/Howard.

Buses Undergo Reroute for St. Patrick's Day Parades
On Saturday, March 15 beginning at 8 a.m., Columbus Drive between Roosevelt and Balbo will be closed for the St. Patrick's Day Parade. As a result, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will undergo reroutes.

Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Columbus/Roosevelt then will operate via Roosevelt to Michigan to Balbo then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Balbo then will operate via Michigan, Roosevelt, Columbus and resume the regular route.

Sunday
Northwest Highway from Nagle to Devon will be closed from
10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 16 for the Northwest Side Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade.

#68 Northwest Highway buses will operate in both directions via Northwest Highway, Devon, Milwaukee, Nagle then return to Northwest Highway and resume the regular route.

#19 United Center Express Serves Bulls and Blackhawks Games
CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses on the following dates and times:

  • Sunday, March 16 at 2 p.m. " Blackhawks versus Calgary Flames
  • Tuesday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. " Bulls versus New Jersey Nets
  • Saturday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. " Bulls versus Indiana Pacers
  • Sunday, March 23 at 2 p.m. " Blackhawks versus St. Louis Blues
  • Tuesday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. " Bulls versus Atlanta Hawks

Buses will leave every 12 minutes from Michigan and Superior starting two hours before game time until 30 minutes before the events begin. When the game ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.

#19 buses will make all stops on Michigan from Superior to Washington, and on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.

After the game, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses operate through downtown east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to

Michigan, making all stops to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making all stops from Randolph to Chicago.

#10 Museum of Science & Industry Bus Extends Hours for Spring Break Service
To accommodate longer spring break hours at the Museum of Science & Industry, #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will operate later Saturday March 15 through Sunday, March 30 and will operate approximately every 15 minutes.

Buses Reroute for Construction Downtown
Dearborn will be closed between Washington and Randolph from 10 p.m. Saturday, March 15 until noon Sunday, March 16 due to construction.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn/Monroe then will operate via Monroe, State, Wacker then return to Dearborn and resume the regular route.

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
The westbound bus stop at Madison and Wells has been temporarily relocated from a far side stop to a near side stop. The stop is served by: #14 Jeffery Express; #20 Madison; #X20 Washington/Madison Express; #56 Milwaukee; #60 Blue Island/26th Street; #124 Navy Pier; #127 Madison/Roosevelt Circulator and #157 Streeterville buses.

State Street to Undergo Intermittent Closure
From 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday, March 14, State Street between 29th Street and 31st Street will undergo intermittent closures due to movie filming. #29 State buses may undergo reroute during these hours.

Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to 26th then will operate via 26th, Michigan, 35th then return to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to 35th then will operate via 35th, Indiana, 31st, Michigan, 26th then return to State and resume the regular route.

Buses Continue to Reroute Due to Construction
Westbound #70 Division buses continue to undergo reroutes until Friday, March 21 due to street repairs at Division and Kolmar.

Buses will travel over the regular route to Kostner then will operate via Kostner, Augusta, Cicero then return to Division and resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute Due To Construction
Westbound #170 University of Chicago/Midway and #192 University of Chicago Hospitals Express buses will be rerouted until May 10 due to construction on 59th Street at Drexel.

#170 buses will travel over the regular route to Ellis then will operate via Ellis, Midway Plaisance, Drexel to Cottage Grove and then resume the regular route.

#192 University of Chicago Hospitals Express buses will travel over the regular route to Ellis then will operate via Ellis, Midway Plaisance, Drexel, Midway Plaisance then return to Cottage Grove and resume the regular route.

A temporary stop has been placed on Drexel to accommodate the service.

Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses will be rerouted in both directions beginning at
5 a.m. on Monday, March 17 until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17 due to street reconstruction.

Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.
