Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of August 1-3

Red Line - Slow Zone Work
Northbound and Southbound Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Sheridan
From 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, August 2,
northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks.

Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of each platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Next Week
Northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks next week from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, August 5 through Friday, August 8. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of each platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line Subway Trains Temporarily Rerouted to Elevated Tracks Next Week
Northbound Red Line trains operating between the Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton stations will be temporarily rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Monday, August 4 until 5 a.m. the following morning. Red Line trains will resume normal service through the subway on Tuesday morning.

During this time, northbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the 95th Street and Cermak-Chinatown stations and between the Fullerton and Howard stations.

Rerouted northbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage. Trains will then operate to Fullerton to resume regular routing. Weekdays, the Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - Southbound
Southbound service between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations will be temporarily rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, August 5 through Friday morning, August 8. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown: Armitage, Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on weekdays from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the Cermak-Chinatown and 95th Street stations.

Brown Line - Slow Zone Work
Northbound Single Track in Effect on Brown Line This Weekend
A single track will be in effect for northbound Brown Line trains between the Southport and Addison stations from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 2 and then again during the same hours on Sunday, August 3.

During these times, northbound customers at the Southport and Addison Brown Line stations must board and exit trains from the southbound platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Next Week
From 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, August 4 through Friday morning, August 8, a single track will be in effect for northbound Brown Line trains between Southport and Addison. Customers at the Southport and Addison stations must board and exit trains from the southbound platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Blue Line - Slow Zone Work
Late Night Single Track on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Next Week
From 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning on Wednesday, August 6 and then again during the same hours on Thursday, August 7,
a single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Montrose and Addison stations. Southbound customers at the Irving Park station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Brown/Red Lines - Other Events Affecting Service
Red and Brown Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Belmont and Fullerton
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound tracks at the Belmont and Fullerton stations from 3 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 2.

Southbound customers at Belmont and Fullerton must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Sunday - Fullerton
From 3 a.m. to noon on Sunday, August 3, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will continue to be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound tracks at the Fullerton station. Southbound customers at Fullerton must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

Wednesday and Thursday - Belmont
From 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning on Wednesday, August 6 and then again during the same hours on Thursday, August 7, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will operate on the northbound tracks at Belmont. Southbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During these times on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Blue Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Forest Park Branch of Blue Line
A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Racine and Western stations from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning on Monday, August 4 and then again during the same hours on Tuesday, August 5.

Southbound customers at the Racine and Medical District stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Brown Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Diversey Brown Line Station Reopens for Monday AM Rush
Beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, August 4, customers will be able to enter the Diversey Brown Line station via a newly renovated stationhouse located on the south side of the street at 943 W. Diversey, across from the old historic entrance.

Diversey is the eleventh of 18 stations to be completed as part of the Brown Line capacity expansion project. With the reopening of the new Diversey stationhouse, a total of 84 out of 144 CTA rail stations will be accessible.

Green Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Green Line Next Week
From 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Sunday, August 3 through Wednesday morning, August 6,
a single track will be in effect between the Austin and Harlem Green Line stations while crews conduct track maintenance and repair work.

Northbound customers at the Austin, Oak Park and Ridgeland stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Wednesday and Thursday - Southbound
A southbound single track will be in effect between the Harlem and Austin Green Line stations from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Wednesday, August 6 through Friday morning, August 8. Southbound customers at the Oak Park, Ridgeland and Austin stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Additional Bus/Rail Service for Events
CTA Provides Convenient Bus and Rail Service for Lollapalooza
Jackson and Balbo will be closed between Columbus and Lake Shore Drive over the weekend for the Lollapalooza festival in Grant Park. CTA will provide extra bus and rail service to accommodate concertgoers.

During this time, buses operating along the #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #26 South Shore Express, #X28 Stony Island Express, #130 Grant Park Treasures and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express routes will be rerouted to adjacent streets.

Additional Service Provided for Men's Soccer Match
CTA will provide additional service for fans heading to the Barcelona versus China soccer match at Soldier Field on Sunday, August 3. Game time is 6 p.m.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m. more frequent service will operate on the #12 Roosevelt and the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express routes.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
Buses Rerouted for Fiesta Del Sol
Cermak Road will be closed between Morgan and Loomis until 1 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, due to the annual Fiesta Del Sol. #21 Cermak buses operating in both directions will operate over the regular route along Cermak to Loomis then travel via Loomis, 18th, Halsted to Cermak and then resume the regular route.

Sewer Repair Work Reroutes #78 Montrose Buses
Montrose Avenue will be closed between Wolcott and Hermitage until Monday, September 8, due to sewer repair work. Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will operate over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then travel via Damen, Wilson, Ashland to Montrose and then resume the regular route.

Road Repairs Temporarily Reroute #201 and #206 Buses
Until Monday, September 29, southbound Ridge Avenue between Davis and Main will be closed due to street reconstruction.

Southbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will operate over the regular route along Chicago to Davis then travel via Davis, Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

During the morning rush period, southbound #206 Evanston Circulator buses will travel over the regular route along Lake to Asbury and then operate via Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

For the evening rush period, southbound #206 buses will operate along Dempster to Asbury then travel via Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

#53 Pulaski Buses Rerouted
#53 Pulaski buses will be temporarily rerouted until Friday, August 29, due to sewer repair work. During this time, #53 buses operating in both directions will operate over the regular route along Pulaski to 26th and then will travel via 26th, Central Park, 31st to Pulaski and then resume the regular route.

#7 Harrison Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the westbound mid-block bus stop located at Harrison near Paulina served by the #7 Harrison will be temporarily relocated around the corner on Paulina due to construction.

The 28th Ward Back to School Parade Reroutes Buses
Madison Avenue will be closed between Laramie and Hamlin from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, for the 28th Ward Back to School Parade. During this time, #20 Madison and #57 Laramie buses operating in both directions will be temporarily rerouted to nearby streets. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Reroute of #74 Fullerton Buses This Weekend
From 1 a.m. Saturday, August 2 until 9 a.m. Sunday morning, and then again from 9 p.m. Sunday, August 3 until 4 a.m. the following morning, Fullerton Avenue at the Brown Line will be closed to all traffic due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project. Eastbound #74 Fullerton buses will operate along Fullerton to Sheffield and then will travel via Sheffield, Webster, Lincoln, Sheffield to Fullerton and then resume the regular route.

Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive
Effective 9 a.m. Monday, August 4 until June 1, 2011, the bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive, served by the #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses, will be relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #10 and #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.

Relocation of Bus Stop at Madison/State
Effective Wednesday, August 6, the westbound bus stop on Madison at State will be relocated to the far side. This location is served by #14 Jeffrey Express, #20 Madison, #X20 Madison Express, #60 Blue Island/26th, #124 Navy Pier and #157 Streeterville buses.

Ongoing Bus Reroutes
#201 Central/Ridge Buses Temporarily Rerouted Until Mid-August
Due to construction along Sherman Road, northbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will be temporarily rerouted until Tuesday morning, August 19. Northbound #201 buses will operate the regular route along Clark to Maple and then travel via Maple, Emerson to Ridge and then resume the regular route. Southbound service is not affected.

Sewer Repair Work Reroutes #78 Montrose Buses
Due to sewer repair work, Montrose Avenue will be closed between Wolcott and Hermitage until 4 a.m. Monday, September 8. Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will operate over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then travel via Damen, Wilson, Ashland to Montrose and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, due to street reconstruction.

Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

#82 Kimball/Homan Buses Rerouted For Sewer Repair Work
Until 4 a.m. Thursday, September 25, Kimball Avenue will be closed between Foster and Bryn Mawr due to sewer repair work. #82 Kimball/Homan buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Kimball to Foster then will operate via Foster, Kedzie, Bryn Mawr to Kimball and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer's Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 25, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer's Market.

During this time, southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route to State then will travel via State, Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From midnight each night until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph Street will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday, November 1.

In addition, Dearborn Street is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each day until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route along Dearborn to Monroe and will then operate via Monroe, State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Bridge Reconstruction Reroutes Buses
The reroute of #205 Chicago/Golf buses will continue until November 16, due to bridge reconstruction on Emerson between Leland and McCormick. #205 buses will operate in both directions via Church, McCormick to Golf and then resume the regular route.

Railroad Bridge Repairs Reroute #75 74th/75th Buses
Until Wednesday, December 31, 2008, #75 74th/75th buses will be rerouted on weekdays only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to railroad bridge repair work in the 7500 block of South Loomis Street. #75 buses operating in both directions will travel along 74th Street to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 76th, Racine to 74th and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue continues to be closed until Thursday, January 1, 2009, due to construction. During this time, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted.

Eastbound #7 buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 buses operating during late evenings, weekends and holidays will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted Due to Water Main Repairs
Until further notice, #6 Jackson Park Express and #79 79th buses will be temporarily rerouted as 79th Street is closed between South Shore Drive and Brandon Avenue.

Southbound #6 buses will operate over the regular route along South Shore to 83rd Street and will then travel via 83rd, Exchange, 79th to Coles for end of route and northbound buses will resume the regular route.

Eastbound #79 buses will travel over the regular route along 79th Street to Cheltenham and then operate via Cheltenham, Coles, 76th, South Shore to 79th for end of route and westbound will resume the regular route.

Bus Stops Along Solidarity Drive Temporarily Removed Due to Construction
Until further notice, all bus stops along Solidarity Drive served by the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be temporarily removed due to construction. Customers traveling to and from the Shedd Aquarium should exit and board #12 and #146 buses at McFetridge Drive.

Buses Reroute at Clark and Polk
Until further notice, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted in the area of Clark and Polk streets and will not be providing any service south of Harrison.

Southbound #22 Clark customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #24 Wentworth bus prior to Congress (or a #129 West Loop/South Loop bus available only on weekdays during the morning and evening rush periods) to complete their trip.

Southbound #36 Broadway customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #29 State or #62 Archer bus prior to Congress to complete their trip.

Both northbound #22 and #36 customers can board buses north of Harrison on Dearborn.

Bus Service Changes Due to Construction at State and Grand
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand Avenue and State Street due to construction at the Red Line's Grand station.

Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Illinois then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Ohio, then return to State and resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street between the hours of 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction. #43 43rd buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and then resume the regular route.

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Lane Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School. #60 Blue Island/26th buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route.
