Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of September 22 - 24

Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project:
CTA is working to expand capacity on the Brown Line. When the work is completed, customers will benefit from longer trains during rush hour and accessible, modern stations and platforms.

Throughout the Brown Line construction project, slow zones and single track operation are periodically necessary near construction activity so, as a general rule, rail customers should allow extra travel time.

Temporary Closure of Kedzie and Rockwell Brown Line Stations September 23 and September 24
Work scheduled this weekend on the Brown Line will result in the closure of both the Kedzie and Rockwell stations from 3 a.m. Saturday, September 23 through Sunday, September 24. Brown Line trains will resume service at Kedzie and Rockwell on Monday morning, September 25.

During the Saturday and Sunday closure of Kedzie and Rockwell, Brown Line trains will operate between the Loop and Western station. Bus shuttle service will be provided to customers free of charge from Western station to Kimball station during regular Brown Line hours as a substitute for rail service. The bus shuttle will make stops at the Western station, Rockwell and Lawrence, Sacramento and Lawrence, Kedzie and Lawrence, Kedzie and Wilson, and at the Kimball station.

Clark Junction Work to Affect Northbound Brown and Red Line Trains
Work is also scheduled to upgrade crossover tracks and signals on Saturday and Sunday at Clark Junction, just north of Belmont on the city's North Side. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24, northbound Brown Line trains will share tracks with northbound Red Line trains at Belmont station. Northbound Brown Line customers will board on the west side of the platform where northbound Red Line customers board. Southbound Brown and Red Line service will not be affected. Normal Brown Line service will resume at 7 p.m. Sunday at Belmont station.

Additional Service Provided to Lakefront Pavilion Concerts
The #130 Grant Park Treasures will provide service for customers to and from the Black Eyed Peas with Rihanna concert Saturday, September 23 at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

#130 buses will depart from the Ogilvie Transportation Center every 15 minutes from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. After the concert, #130 buses will operate every few minutes for 30 minutes between the Museum Campus, Union Station and Ogilvie.

47th Closed for Sewer Work Tuesday through October 9
47th is closed between Ashland and Damen from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily through Monday, October 9. #47 47th buses will operate in both directions via Damen, 51st, Ashland and 47th, then resume the regular route.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Thursday, Friday and Saturday
A single track will be in effect between 79th and 87th on Thursday, September 21, Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 23. On Thursday night, the single track will be in effect from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. Friday, September 22 and on Friday night, the single track will be in effect from 11 p.m. until 8 a.m. Saturday, September 23. During these hours, north and southbound customers boarding at the 79th station must board on the west side of the platform.

On Saturday night, the single track will be in effect from 11 p.m. until noon Sunday, September 24. North and southbound customers boarding at the 79th station must board on the east side of the platform.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Sunday
A single track will be in effect between 63rd and 69th from 10 p.m. Sunday, September 24 until 4:30 a.m. Monday, September 25. North and southbound customers boarding at the 63rd station must board on the west side of the platform.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect between 87th and 94th from 11 p.m. Monday, September 25 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, September 26 and again in the same location, during the same hours Tuesday night. On Monday night, north and southbound customers boarding at the 87th station must board on the east side of the platform. On Tuesday night, north and southbound customers boarding at the 87th station must board on the west side of the platform.

A single track will be in effect between Garfield and 63rd from 11 p.m. Wednesday, September 27 until 4 a.m. Thursday, September 28 and again in the same location, during the same hours Thursday night. North and southbound customers boarding at the Garfield station must board on the west side of the platform.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Orange Line for Maintenance Beginning Thursday through Next Week
A single track will be in effect between 14th and Lowe from 11 p.m. Thursday, September 21 until 4:30 a.m. Friday, September 22 and again in the same location, during the same hours Friday and Saturday nights, September 22 and September 23.

The single track will also be in effect in the same location from 10 p.m. until 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, September 24, September 25 and September 26.

During these hours, Orange and Green Line customers will continue to board at the usual platforms, however they should allow extra travel time.

Single Track in Effect on Blue Line O'Hare Branch for Maintenance Friday and Sunday
A late night single track will be in effect between the Cumberland and Harlem stations from 11 p.m. Friday, September 22 until 6 a.m. Saturday, September 23. North and southbound customers boarding at the Harlem station must board on the southbound side of the platform.

A single track will be in effect between Harlem and Nagle from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, September 24. During these hours, customers will continue to board at the usual platforms at Harlem, however they should allow extra travel time.

Single Track in Effect on Purple Line for Viaduct Replacement Work Over Weekend
A single track will be in effect between the Dempster and Foster stations from 2:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. Saturday, September 23 and in the same location from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, September 24. On Saturday, north and southbound customers boarding at the Dempster and Davis stations must board on the west side of the platform. On Sunday, north and southbound customers boarding at the Dempster and Davis stations must board on the east side of the platform.

Northbound Platforms at Loyola, Morse and Jarvis Red Line Stations Temporarily Close for Maintenance Sunday through Thursday
The northbound Loyola, Morse and Jarvis platforms will temporarily close for maintenance Sunday, September 24 through Thursday, September 28.

On Sunday, the closure will begin at 9:30 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday, September 25 and will close again from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. each day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, September 25, September 26, September 27 and September 28.

As a result, during these hours, northbound Red Line trains will be unable to stop at the Loyola, Morse and Jarvis stations. Northbound customers who wish to exit at these stations will need to travel to the Howard station and transfer to a southbound Red Line train back to these stations.

Northbound customers who wish to board at the Loyola, Morse and Jarvis stations will need to board a southbound train and exit at Granville to board a northbound Red Line train.
