Blue Line – Slow Zone Work
Blue Line Service between Clark/Lake and Western/Milwaukee Temporarily Suspended this Weekend
CTA will suspend rail service in the Blue Line Dearborn subway from Clark/Lake to Western/Milwaukee starting at 10 p.m. Friday, May 8 until 4 a.m. Monday, May 11 due to track replacement work.
Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops at Western/Milwaukee, Damen, Division, Chicago, Grand and Clark/Lake. Both the Western/Milwaukee and Clark/Lake stations are accessible to customers with disabilities.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
Blue Line Trains on the O’Hare Branch Undergo a Single Track Monday Night
From 8 p.m. Monday, May 11 until 4 a.m. the following morning, a single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains between the Cumberland and Rosemont stations.
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Cumberland station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Blue Line Trains Undergo a Single Track between Addison and Montrose
Northbound Blue Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the Addison and Montrose stations from 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
Northbound Blue Line customers at the Irving Park station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Wednesday Night – Southbound
From 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound Blue Line trains between the Montrose and Addison stations will undergo a late night single track.
Southbound Blue Line customers at the Irving Park station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Red Line – Slow Zone Work
Daytime Reroute of Red Line Trains at Sheridan
A daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, May 9, while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
During this time, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
Next Week
From 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, May 12 through Friday, May 15, a daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
During these times, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
Red/Brown Line – Other Events Affecting Service
Red and Brown Line Trains Rerouted at Belmont This Weekend
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted this weekend to allow crews to install escalators at the Belmont station.
Friday Night – Northbound
From 9 p.m. Friday, May 8 until 9 a.m. the following morning, northbound customers at the Belmont station must board and exit trains from the southbound Red Line side of the platform. Southbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the platform where southbound Brown Line trains normally stop.
During this time, northbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Northbound Brown Line customers who want to exit at Diversey should ride to Belmont and board a southbound train to Diversey. Northbound customers who want to board at Diversey should board a southbound train and exit at Fullerton to board a northbound train.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Saturday Night – Southbound
As crews continue escalator installation work, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound Red Line tracks at Belmont from 9 p.m. Saturday, May 9 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
Southbound customers at the Belmont station must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.
During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers who want to exit at Diversey should ride to Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Southbound customers who want to board at Diversey should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service
Polk Street Entrance to Serve as primary Entrance for Harrison Red Line Station
Starting Monday, May 11, the Polk Street entrance will serve as the primary entrance to the Harrison Red Line station while the Harrison Street entrance is under construction. The Polk Street entrance is one block south of the Harrison entrance at the southwest corner of Polk and State. The Harrison Street entrance will remain closed for five months in order to replace the escalator that connects the mezzanine to the platform.
Two-Phase Single Track in Effect for Red Line Trains on Monday Night
While crews perform track maintenance work along the Red Line, a two-phase late night single track will be in effect for southbound trains between the 47th Street and 63rd Street stations from 11 p.m. Sunday, May 10 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
Phase I – 47th Street to Garfield
From 11 p.m. Sunday, May 10 until 1 a.m. the following morning, southbound Red Line customers at the 47th Street station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
Phase II – 47th Street to 63rd Street
From 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. Monday, May 11, southbound Red Line customers at the 47th Street and Garfield stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Late Night Single Track for Red Line Trains between the 95th and 87th Street Stations
A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains between the 95th Street and 87th Street stations from 11 p.m. Monday, May 11 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 until 4 a.m. the following morning, due to track maintenance work.
During these times, northbound Red Line customers at the 87th Street station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

Red Line Trains Undergo a Two-Phase Late Night Single Track Wednesday Night
As crews continue track maintenance work along the Red Line, a two-phase single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains between the 95th Street and 79th Street stations.
Phase I – 95th Street to 87th Street
From 11 p.m. Wednesday May 13 until 1 a.m. the following morning, northbound Red Line customers at the 87th Street station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Phase II – 95th Street to 79th Street
From 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. Thursday, May 14, northbound Red Line customers at the 87th Street and 79th Street stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

Northbound Red Line Trains Undergo Single Track between the 79thand 69th Street Stations
A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains between the 79th Street and 69th Street stations from 11 p.m. Thursday, May 14 until 4 a.m. the following morning due to track maintenance work.
Northbound Red Line customers at the 69th Street station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Additional Service for Special Events
#19 United Center Express Serves Upcoming Events
CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses on the following dates and times:
- Monday, May 11 at 8 p.m. – Vancouver Canucks versus Blackhawks (Game 6)
- Tuesday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. – Bruce Springsteen Concert
Buses will leave every 10 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of the event until the starting time of the event. When the event ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour. #19 buses no longer make stops along Michigan Avenue north of Randolph, but continue to make all stops on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
After the event, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses will operate east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making the final stop at Randolph.

Late Night Reroute of #77 Belmont Buses This Weekend
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, Belmont Avenue at the Brown Line station will be closed to all traffic from 9 p.m. Friday, May 8 until 7 a.m. the following morning and then again from 9 p.m. Saturday, May 9 until 7 a.m. the following morning.
Eastbound #77 Belmont buses will travel along Belmont to Sheffield and then will operate via Sheffield, Addison, Halsted to Belmont and then resume the regular route. Westbound #77 buses will travel the reverse route.
#22 Clark and #36 Broadway Buses Briefly Detoured Friday Night
Due to a scheduled crane lift, Clark Street between St. James and Deming will be closed to all traffic from 10 p.m. until midnight tonight – Friday, May 8.
Southbound #22 Clark buses will operate over the regular route along Clark to Diversey then will travel via Diversey, Lakeview, Fullerton to Clark and then resume the regular route. Northbound #22 buses will travel the reverse route.
Southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route along Broadway to Diversey then will operate via Diversey, Lakeview, Fullerton to Clark and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will travel the reverse route.
Buses Rerouted Early Saturday for the 1,000 Man March
From 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 71st Street between King and South Chicago, and South Chicago Avenue between 71st and Ingleside will be closed to all traffic for the 1,000 Man March.
Southbound #30 South Chicago buses will operate over the regular route along South Chicago to Cottage Grove then will travel via Cottage Grove, 73rd Street to South Chicago and then resume the regular route. Northbound #30 buses will travel the reverse route.
Southbound #71 71st/South Shore buses will travel over the regular route along 71st Street to South Chicago then will operate via South Chicago, Keefe, 69th Street to the 69th Street Red Line station and then resume the regular route. Northbound #71 buses will travel the reverse route.
Beverly Breast Cancer Walk Detours #103 West 103rd Buses Sunday Morning
From 6 a.m. until noon on Sunday, May 10, 103rd Street between Seeley and Longwood will be closed to all traffic for the Beverly Breast Cancer Walk. The walk will take place along Longwood Drive from 96th Street to 108th Place.
Westbound #103 103rd buses will travel over the regular route along 103rd Street to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 111th Street, Western to 103rd Street and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #103 buses will travel the reverse route.
The Walk to Empower Detours Nine Bus Routes Around Grant Park on Sunday
Balbo Drive between Michigan and Lake Shore, and Columbus Drive between Roosevelt and Balbo will be closed to all traffic from 1 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, May 10, due to The Walk to Empower. The event will step-off at 8 a.m.
Reroutes Before & After Event
On Sunday, from 1 a.m. until 7 a.m. and then again from noon until 2 p.m., northbound #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #14 Jeffery Express buses will operate over their regular routes along Columbus to Roosevelt then will travel via Roosevelt to Michigan and then resume the regular route. Southbound #6, #10 and #14 buses will travel the reverse route.
During the Event
From approximately 7 a.m. until noon, Balbo Drive between Michigan and Lake Shore; Columbus Drive between Randolph and Roosevelt; Congress Parkway between Michigan and Columbus; northbound lanes of Michigan Avenue between Roosevelt and Congress and the westbound lanes of Roosevelt Road between Columbus and Michigan will all be closed during the event.
The following bus routes will be detoured to adjacent streets to maintain service during the event:

Chicago Avenue Bridge Maintenance Detours #66 Chicago Buses Sunday Night
The Chicago Avenue Bridge over the north branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic due to bridge maintenance from 9 p.m. Sunday, May 10 until 6 a.m. the following morning.
Eastbound #66 Chicago buses will travel over the regular route along Chicago to Halsted then will operate via Halsted, Division, Crosby, Larrabee to Chicago and then resume the regular route. Westbound #66 buses will travel the reverse route.

Water Main Construction Reroutes Buses until May 12
Due to water main construction, 16th Street is closed between California and Washtenaw from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Tuesday, May 12.
Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will travel over the regular route to Ogden/California then will operate via Ogden, Washtenaw to 16th and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
Westbound #38 Ogden/Taylor buses will travel over the regular route to Western/Ogden then will operate via Western, 16th to Washtenaw and then resume the regular route. Eastbound buses are not affected and will travel along the regular route.
Temporary Relocation of #78 Montrose Bus Stop
Due to sewer construction work along Montrose Avenue, the eastbound near side bus stop at Montrose/Damen will be temporarily relocated approximately 150 feet west until Wednesday, May 13.
Temporary Relocation of Bus Terminal at Ford City Mall
Until 3 p.m. Monday, June 8, the CTA bus terminal located at Ford City Mall will be temporarily relocated approximately 800 feet southeast due to construction. This terminal is served by #54B South Cicero and #79 79th buses.
#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Construction
Until Friday, July 17, #60 Blue Island/26th buses operating in both directions will be rerouted due to the closure of Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Street and the closure of Loomis Street between Cermak and 18th Street. The street closures are due to construction work at the Benito Juarez School campus.
Eastbound #60 Blue Island buses will operate over the regular route along Blue Island to Ashland then will travel via Ashland, 18th Street to Loomis/Blue Island and then resume the regular route along Blue Island.
Westbound #60 buses will travel over the regular route along Blue Island past Laflin to 21st Street then will operate via 21st Street, Ashland to Cermak/Blue Island and then resume the regular route along Blue Island.
Buses Rerouted Due to Construction on Milwaukee Avenue
Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will be rerouted until Monday, November 30, due to construction on Milwaukee Avenue between Gale Street and Montrose Avenue.
Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will travel over their regular routes to Lawrence/Milwaukee to a far side stop then will continue eastbound on Lawrence to Lipps, heading north on Lipps to enter the Jefferson Park bus terminal. Westbound #81W and southbound #91 buses are not affected and will travel along their regular routes.
Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive
The bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive served by #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses has been relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.
#10 customers should board on Chestnut between Mies van der Rohe and Michigan or on Michigan southbound at Pearson.
Temporary Removal of Bus Stops at Cottage Grove/57th Street
The northbound far side and southbound near side bus stops near the intersection of Cottage Grove and 57th Street will be temporarily removed until further notice due to sewer repair work. These bus stops are served by northbound and southbound #2 Hyde Park Express, #4 Cottage Grove and #X4 Cottage Grove Express buses.
During this time, customers are advised to board #2, #4 and #X4 buses either one block north at Cottage Grove and 56th Street, or one block south at Cottage Grove and 58th Street.
