Blue Line – Events Affecting Service

Two-Phase Single Track Operation in Effect on O’Hare Branch Sunday Night

A two-phase single track operation will be in effect for all late night Blue Line trains serving the Harlem and Cumberland stations beginning Sunday night, June 10, due to track maintenance work.
 
Phase I – at Cumberland
From 10 p.m. Sunday, June 10 until 12:01 a.m. the following morning, Blue Line customers at the Cumberland station traveling northbound (to O’Hare) must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Phase II – at Harlem and Cumberland
From 12:01 a.m. until 4 a.m. Monday, June 11, Blue Line customers at the Harlem and Cumberland stations traveling northbound (to O’Hare) must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Late Night Boarding Changes at the Cumberland Station Next Week

All late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the southbound (to Forest Park) tracks at the Cumberland station next week while crews continue track maintenance work.
 
From 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, June 11 through Friday morning, June 15, northbound (to O’Hare) customers at the Cumberland station must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Brown Line – Events Affecting Service

Daytime Closure of Northbound Main Entrance/Exit and Elevator at Armitage

The main entrance/exit and elevator to the northbound (to Kimball) platform of the Armitage Brown Line station will be temporarily closed from 10:45 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day beginning Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 15, while crews replace platform decking.
 
During these times, customers will be directed to access the northbound (to Kimball) platform using the auxiliary entrance located on the south side of Armitage Avenue.
 
Access for Customers with Disabilities
Customers at the Armitage station traveling northbound (to Kimball) who require an elevator to access Brown Line trains will need to take a southbound (to the Loop) train to Sedgwick and transfer to a northbound (to Kimball) train.
 
Northbound (to Kimball) customers traveling to the Armitage station who require access to an elevator will need to continue to Fullerton and transfer to a southbound (to the Loop) train.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
 

Green/Orange Line – Events Affecting Service

Temporary Closure of Auxiliary Exit at Roosevelt

Beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, June 11 until further notice, the auxiliary exit to the Roosevelt Green/Orange line elevated station will be closed as crews demolish and rebuild the facility/exit.
 
Green/Orange Line customers will be directed to use the main entrance/exit to the Roosevelt station during this time.
 

Purple Line – Events Affecting Service

Weekend Service Temporarily Suspended between Howard and Davis

Due to crews replacing the CTA rail viaduct at Greenleaf Street in Evanston, rail service along the Purple Line will be temporarily suspended from the Howard Terminal to the Davis Street station beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 8 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 11.
 
During this time, bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops adjacent to the Howard, South Blvd., Main, Dempster and Davis stations. The shuttles will depart from the Howard and Davis stations approximately every 5-15 minutes and will operate during the same hours of operation as the Purple Line.
 
Customers also can take the #201 Central/Sherman as an alternate service option, which operates between Howard Terminal and the Central Purple Line station and also serves the Davis station. 
 
Both the Howard and Davis stations are accessible to customers with disabilities.
 
Purple Line trains will operate normally from Davis to Linden. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. 
 

Red Line – Events Affecting Service

Late Night Boarding Changes at 87th Street Station Next Week

All late night Red Line trains will be routed to operate on the southbound (to 95th/Dan Ryan) tracks at the 87th Street station from 10:30 p.m. each night until 4:30 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday, June 12 through Friday morning, June 15, due to track maintenance work.
 
During these times, northbound (to Howard) customers at the 87th Street station must board and exit trains from the southbound (to 95th/Dan Ryan) side of the platform.
 
CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. 
 

Service for Upcoming Events

Service for Concerts at Wrigley Field

The CTA offers a variety of convenient and affordable options for those heading to the concerts at Wrigley Field this weekend – Roger Waters on Friday, June 8 at 8:30 p.m. and Brad Paisley on Saturday, June 9 at 5 p.m.
 
CTA will operate longer trains and more frequent service on both nights until midnight or later. The Red Line provides direct service to Wrigley Field via the accessible station at Addison, which is just a short walk from the ballpark.  Fans can transfer to Red Line trains from all other rail lines and from most east-west bus routes.
 
Riders heading to Wrigley Field can board Red Line trains from stations in the State Street subway downtown or from Howard, where fans can connect from Purple or Yellow line trains serving the northern suburbs.  Fans using these stations also can take advantage of convenient Park & Ride lots at Howard, Linden and Skokie.  
 
CTA’s Yellow Line will operate until 1 a.m. from the Howard station to the Skokie station for both concert dates. This provides a convenient option for fans to Park & Ride by using the more than 400 parking spaces available at the Skokie Yellow Line station, just three blocks east of the Edens Expressway.
 
#8 Halsted
#8 buses operate northbound/southbound on Halsted Street between 79th Street and Broadway/Waveland.
 
#22 Clark
Northbound #22 buses run north through the Loop on Dearborn and south on Clark from the CTA Howard Terminal (Red/Purple/Yellow).
 
#152 Addison
For all Cubs games, additional service is provided on the #152 route as crowds warrant, starting 2½ hours before game time and operating until approximately one hour after games end. #152 buses operate on Addison from Cumberland on the west to Lake Shore Drive on the east.
 
#154 Wrigley Field Express
Buses operate nights and weekends and provide direct service to Wrigley Field from parking lots at DeVry University – on Rockwell, a quarter-mile west of Western and a quarter-mile south of Addison.
 
Service begins three hours before each game and runs until one hour after night games end and two hours after weekend games end. A $6 fee includes parking at DeVry and round-trip bus transit for a carload of fans. Fans not parking at DeVry can take the #154 for a regular CTA bus fare.
 
Bus customers using CTA fare media card pay $2.00 to ride. For rail customers or customers paying cash on the bus, the fare is $2.25. CTA fare media card holders may transfer for a 25-cent fee. Transfers are not available for cash-paying customers.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Temporary Reroute of Northbound #145 and #147 Buses at State/Van Buren

Currently in effect until approximately 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #147 Outer drive Express buses are being detoured due to construction on State Street at Van Buren.
 
Northbound #145 buses are traveling over the regular route along Congress to Dearborn then are operating via Dearborn, Jackson to State and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #145 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
Northbound #147 buses are operating over the regular route along Congress to Michigan then are traveling via Michigan, Van Buren to State and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #147 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.

 

Bridge Repair Work at 92nd Street/Exchange Detours #N5 and #95E Buses

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, #N5 South Shore Night and #95E 93rd/95th buses are being detoured due to the closure of 92nd Street/Exchange for bridge repair work.
 
Eastbound #N5 and #95E buses are traveling over their regular routes along 93rd Street to Anthony then are operating via Anthony, Commercial, South Chicago to Exchange and then resuming their regular routes. Westbound #N5 and #95E buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Temporary Reroute of Northbound #171 and #172 Routes Due to Construction

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, July 7, northbound #171 U of C/Hyde Park and #172 U of C/Kenwood buses are being detoured due to the closure of Dorchester between 59th and 60th streets.
 
Northbound #171 and #172 buses are operating over their regular routes along 60th Street past Dorchester to Stony Island then are traveling via Stony Island, 59th Street to Dorchester and resuming their regular routes. Southbound #171 and #172 buses are not affected and are traveling over their regular routes.
 

Annual Printers Row Lit Fest Detours Four CTA Bus Routes This Weekend

Currently in effect until approximately 2 a.m. Monday, June 11, four CTA bus routes are being detoured due to the closure of Dearborn between Harrison and Polk and Polk between Clark and Dearborn for the annual Printers Row Lit Fest. Routes that are affected during this time are the #22 Clark, #24 Wentworth, #62 Archer and #129 West Loop/South Loop (PM Rush service only).
 
Southbound #22 buses are traveling south on Clark to Harrison before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #22 buses are departing from Dearborn/Van Buren and traveling north on Dearborn over the regular route.
 
Northbound #24 buses are operating over the regular route along Clark to Roosevelt then are traveling via Roosevelt, State, Harrison to Dearborn and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #24 buses are operating over the regular route along Clark to Harrison then are traveling via Harrison, State, Roosevelt to Clark and resuming the regular route.
 
Northbound #62 buses are traveling over the regular route along State past Polk to Harrison then are operating via Harrison to Dearborn and resuming the regular route. Southbound #62 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

Sewer Construction Work Detours Eastbound #43 43rd Buses

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, June 30, eastbound #43 43rd buses are being detoured due to the closure of 43rd Street between Ellis and Lake Park for sewer construction work.
 
Eastbound #43 buses are operating over the regular route along 43rd Street to Oakenwald then are traveling via Oakenwald, 42nd Place, Ellis to 43rd Street and then resume the regular route. Westbound #43 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Fiesta Back of the Yards Festival Detours #47 47th Buses This Weekend

Currently in effect until 6 a.m. Monday, June 11, #47 47th buses are being detoured due to the closure of 47th Street between Ashland and Damen for the annual Fiesta Back of the Yards festival.
 
Eastbound #47 buses are operating over the regular route along 47th Street to Damen then are traveling via Damen, 51st Street, Ashland to 47th Street and then resuming the regular route. Westbound #47 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Removal of #30 South Chicago Bus Stop

Effective immediately, the northwestbound near side stop at South Chicago/87th Street/Yates served by #30 South Chicago buses has been removed from service.
 

New Stop Added to #111 Pullman/111th/115th Route

Effective immediately, northbound #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are now serving the new far side stop at Cottage Grove/111th Street.
 

North Center Ribfest Detours #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick Buses This Weekend

Currently in effect until 3 a.m. Monday, June 11, #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are being detoured due to the closure of Lincoln Avenue between Irving Park and Warner for the North Center Ribfest.
 
Southbound #11 buses will travel over the regular route along Lincoln to Montrose then are operating via Montrose, Damen to Lincoln and resuming the regular route. Northbound #11 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

The 13.1 Marathon Chicago Reroutes Buses Saturday Morning

From 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, #6 Jackson Park Express, #14 Jeffery Express and #67 67th/69th/71st buses will be detoured due to the closure of Marquette Drive between Lake Shore Drive and Richards, and the northbound lanes of South Shore Drive between 71st Street and Lake Shore Drive for the annual 13.1 Marathon Chicago.
 
Northbound #6 buses will travel over the regular route along South Shore Drive to 75th Street then will operate via 75th Street, Jeffery to 67th Street and then resume the regular route. Southbound #6 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #14 buses will operate over the regular route along Jeffery to 67th Street then will travel via 67th Street, Cornell, 57th Street to Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route. Southbound #14 buses will travel over the regular route on Lake Shore Drive to 57th Street then will operate via 57th Street, Cornell, Stony Island, 67th Street to Jeffery and resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #67 buses will travel over the regular route along 67th Street to Jeffery then will operate via Jeffery, 73rd Street, Stony Island to 67th Street before beginning westbound service. From 67th Street/Stony Island, westbound #67 buses will travel west on 67th Street over the regular route.
 

Sewer Reconstruction Work Detours Southbound #90N North Harlem Buses

Beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, June 11 until approximately 6 p.m. Friday, August 31, #90N North Harlem buses will be detoured due to the closure of Harlem between Greenleaf and Lunt for sewer reconstruction work.
 
Southbound #90N buses will travel over the regular route along Touhy past Harlem to Milwaukee then will operate via Milwaukee, Devon to Harlem and resume the regular route. Northbound #90N buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Daytime Reroute for #94 South California Buses Next Week

From 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, June 12 through Friday, June 15, #94 South California buses will undergo a reroute due to the closure of California between 31st and 35th street as bridge deck repairs are performed.
 
During these times, southbound #94 South California buses will operate over the regular route along California to 31st Street then will travel via 31st Street, Western, 35th Street to California and then resume the regular route. Northbound #94 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Red Line Viaduct Work Detours #96 Lunt and #155 Devon Buses Beginning Thursday

From 6 a.m. Thursday, June 14 until 6 a.m. Monday, June 18, #96 Lunt and #155 Devon buses will be detoured due to the closure of Morse between Glenwood and Wayne and Lunt between Glenwood and Sheridan for Red Line viaduct work.
 
Eastbound #96 buses will travel over the regular route to Morse/Ashland before turning to begin westbound service. From Morse/Ashland, westbound #96 buses will travel via Ashland to Lunt and resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #155 buses will operate over the regular route along Ashland past Morse to Greenleaf then will travel via Greenleaf, Sheridan to Morse before beginning westbound service. From Sheridan/Morse, westbound #155 will travel over the regular route.
 

Ongoing Bus Service Changes 

Sewer Repair Project Detours #43 43rd Buses

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, June 29, #43 43rd buses are being detoured due to the closure of 42nd Place between Ellis and Lake Park avenues for a sewer repair project.
 
Eastbound #43 buses are traveling to 43rd Street/Oakenwald before turning to begin westbound service. From 43rd Street/Oakenwald, westbound #43 buses are operating via Oakenwald, 44th Place, Lake Park to 43rd street and then resuming the regular route.
 

Wacker Drive Stage III Work Affecting 18 Downtown CTA Bus Routes

Currently in effect, 18 CTA bus routes that operate in the downtown area near Adams and Monroe streets at Wacker Drive are operating under temporary service changes, due to work associated with Stage III of the Wacker Drive construction project. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time along these routes:

Eastbound #64 Foster/Canfield Buses Detoured for Viaduct Reconstruction Work

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, August 17, eastbound #64 Foster/Canfield buses are being detoured due to the closure of Higgins/Oriole for the reconstruction of the nearby viaduct over the Kennedy Expressway.
 
Eastbound #64 buses are traveling over the regular route along Canfield to Seminole then are operating via Seminole to Higgins and then resuming the regular route. Westbound #64 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

Bus Stop Changes Due to Kedzie Bridge Reconstruction Work

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Monday, October 1, the following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by #52A South Kedzie, #67 67th/69th/71st and #94 South California due to reconstruction work on the Kedzie Avenue Bridge between Marquette and 71st Street:
 
#52A South Kedzie
  • Kedzie/Marquette: the northbound far side stop has been temporarily relocated to a westbound near side stop on Marquette at Kedzie.
  • Kedzie/71st Street: the southbound far side stop has been temporarily removed from service.
 
#67 67th/69th/71st
  • 71st Street/Kedzie: the westbound near side stop has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop.
 
#94 South California
  • 71st Street/Kedzie: the westbound stop has been temporarily removed from service.
 

Temporary Relocation of #75 74th/75th Bus Stop

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, October 12, the eastbound near side stop at 75th Street/Constance has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction. This stop is served by #75 74th/75th buses.
 

Saturdays: Near North Farmer’s Market Detours #36 Broadway, #70 Division Buses

From 5 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 27, #36 Broadway and #70 Division buses will be detoured due to the closure of Division Street between State and Clark for the Near North Farmer’s Market.
 
Southbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #70 buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route. 
 

New Routing for #24 Wentworth Buses Traveling to 87th/Racine Only

Currently in effect until further notice, the routing of #24 Wentworth buses traveling to 87th Street/Racine only has been changed on a trial basis to serve the new businesses along Holland Road, in response to customer feedback.
 
As a result, southbound and northbound #24 buses (to 87th Street/Racine) are no longer operating on Vincennes between 83rd and 87th streets. Instead, southbound buses are traveling over the regular route along Vincennes to 83rd Street, then operating via 83rd Street, Princeton/Holland, 87th Street to Vincennes and continuing west on 87th Street over the regular route. Northbound buses will travel the reverse.
 

Weekdays Only: Temporary Change in Routing for Northbound #147 Buses

Currently in effect until further notice, from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. on weekdays only northbound #147 Outer Drive Express buses will undergo a temporary change in routing due to heavy traffic congestion on Congress between Michigan and State.
 
From 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. on weekdays only, northbound #147 buses will travel over the regular route along Congress to Michigan then will operate via Michigan, Van Buren to State and then resume the regular route.
 
During all other hours of operation, northbound #147 buses will operate over the regular route via Congress to State.
 
Southbound #147 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #72 North Avenue Bus Stop

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2013, the westbound near side stop at North Avenue/Washtenaw has been relocated to a far side stop. This stop is served by #72 North Avenue buses.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Lake Park/53rd Street

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, the southbound near side stop at Lake Park/53rd Street has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction work. This stop is served by #6 Jackson Park Express, #X28 Stony Island Express and #171 U of C/Hyde Park buses.
 

Relocation of #36 Broadway Bus Stop Due to Nearby Construction

Currently in effect until Friday, July 12, 2013, the southbound near side stop at Broadway/Elmdale served by #36 Broadway buses has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Removal of Bus Stop Change Affects Five Routes

Currently in effect until Thursday, August 1, 2013, the mid-block bus stop located at 5800 South Stony Island has been temporarily removed due to construction. This stop is served by the #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island and #X28 Stony Island Express buses.
