Note: All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule Tuesday, July 4, in commemoration of Independence Day.
Additional Service Provided for Taste of Chicago
Visitors to Taste of Chicago in Grant Park on Friday, June 30 through Sunday, July 9 will find CTA service the most effective way to travel. Longer trains will operate into the Loop until late every night. Additional buses will be available toward the close of each evening's activities to carry customers home.
More extensive service will be available Monday evening, July 3 and Tuesday evening, July 4 for spectators going to Navy Pier or Grant Park to watch the fireworks displays. To avoid lines at fare card vending machines, all customers heading for the Taste and the fireworks are encouraged to have enough value for return trips on their Chicago Cards or to purchase ahead of time their return trip farecards at CTA rail stations and other sales locations listed on the CTA's web site. The Taste of Chicago street closures are Columbus between Monroe and Balbo, Congress between Michigan and Columbus, and Jackson between Lake Shore Drive and Michigan. Southbound #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #26 South Shore Express, #X28 Stony Island Express, #130 Grant Park Treasures, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and the #173 University of Chicago/Lake View Express buses are rerouted to adjacent streets. Northbound service is not affected.
#7 Harrison, #14 Jeffery Express, #126 Jackson and #147 Outer Drive Express buses are rerouted around the street closures in both directions to adjacent streets.
Customers should allow extra travel time.
Additional Service Provided for Lakefront Pavilion Concerts This Weekend
The #130 Grant Park Treasures is a convenient way for customers to travel to concerts at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island this summer. CTA will run service after concerts on weekdays and provide additional service on weekends. The #130 operates in both directions between the Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station to the Museum Campus on weekends and holidays through Labor Day.
On weekends, additional service will operate from Metra's LaSalle Street station, and Ogilvie and Union stations 30 minutes before the concert and will depart Northerly Island until 30 minutes after the concert.
On weekdays, the #130 will provide service from Northerly Island following the concert for 30 minutes. There will be no service on the #130 route prior to weekday concerts.
Single Track in Effect on Orange Line for Maintenance Thursday
A single track will be in effect between 35th/Archer station and 43rd from 9 p.m. Thursday, June 29 until 4 a.m. Friday,
June 30. Northbound and southbound customers must board 35th/Archer on the west side of the platform.
Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:
CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.
Single Tracks in Effect on Red Line Thursday and Friday
A single track will be in effect between 87th and 94th from
11 p.m. Thursday, June 29 until 4 a.m. Friday, June 30. Southbound and northbound customers boarding at 87th must board on the east side of the platform.
A single track will be in effect between 23rd and 45th from
11 p.m. Friday, June 30 until 8 a.m. Saturday, July 1. Northbound and southbound customers boarding at Sox-35th must board on the west side of the platform.
Single Tracks in Effect on Red Line Over Weekend
A single track will be in effect between 15th and 33rd from
11 p.m. Saturday, July 1 until 8 a.m. Sunday, July 2. Northbound and southbound customers boarding at Cermak-Chinatown must board on the west side of the platform.
A single track will be in effect between Garfield and 45th from
9 p.m. Sunday, July 2 until 4 a.m. Monday, July 3. Northbound and southbound customers boarding at 47th must board on the east side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
Cortland Bridge over Chicago River to Close Through July 31
The Cortland Bridge over the Chicago River is closed through Monday, July 31 for maintenance work. Westbound #73 Armitage buses will operate via Clybourn, Webster, Ashland, Elston to Cortland, then resume the regular route.
