Blue Line – Slow Zone Work

Blue Line Service between Clark/Lake and Western/Milwaukee Temporarily Suspended this Weekend

CTA will suspend rail service in the Blue Line Dearborn subway from Clark/Lake to Western/Milwaukee starting at 10 p.m. Friday, June 19 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 22 due to track replacement work.
 
Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops at Western/Milwaukee, Damen, Division, Chicago, Grand and Clark/Lake. Both the Western/Milwaukee and Clark/Lake stations are accessible to customers with disabilities.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line – Slow Zone Work

Daytime Reroute of Red Line Trains at Sheridan

A daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20, while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During this time, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 
Next Week
From 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, June 23 through Friday, June 26, a daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station.
 
During these times, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 

Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Westbound Blue Line Trains Undergo Single Track Monday Night

Due to signal upgrade work, a late night single track will be in effect for westbound Blue Line trains between the UIC-Halsted and Western stations from 9 p.m. Monday, June 22 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Westbound Blue Line customers at the Racine and Illinois Medical District stations must board and exit trains from the eastbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Southbound Single Track in Effect between the Grand and LaSalle Stations

A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Grand and LaSalle stations from 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, June 23 through Friday morning, June 26. This will allow crews to continue work associated with the signal upgrade project.
 
During these times, southbound Blue Line customers at the Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe and Jackson stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track between Roosevelt and Grand Friday Night

Due to work associated with the delivery and installation of an escalator at the Harrison station, northbound Red Line trains will undergo a late night single track between the Roosevelt and Grand stations from 11 p.m. Friday, June 19 until 7 a.m. the following morning.
 
Northbound Red Line customers at the Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe and Lake stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Single Track in Effect between the 63rd Street and 69th Street Stations

Due to track maintenance, a single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains between the 63rd Street and 69th Street stations from 11 p.m. Sunday, June 21 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 11 p.m. Monday, June 22 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Southbound Red Line customers at the 63rd Street station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Two-Phase Late Night Single Track in Effect between 63rd Street and 79th Street

A two-phase late night single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains between the 63rd Street and 79th Street stations from 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 23 until 4 a.m. the following morning while crews continue track maintenance work.
 
Phase I – 63rd Street to 69th Street
From 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 23 until 1 a.m. the following morning, southbound Red Line customers at the 63rd Street station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Phase II – 63rd Street to 79th Street
From 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, southbound Red Line customers at the 63rd Street and 69th Street stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Single Track in Effect at the Garfield Station Wednesday and Thursday Nights

As track maintenance along the 95th/Dan Ryan Branch of Red Line continues, a late night single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains at the Garfield station from 11 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 11 p.m. Thursday, June 25 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Southbound Red Line customers at the Garfield station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

UPDATE: Buses Detoured Until Early July Due to Division Street Bridge Repairs

The westbound lanes of the Division Street Bridge over the north branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic until late Friday, July 31, due to repair work.
 
Westbound #70 Division buses will operate over the regular route along Division to Larrabee then will travel via Larrabee to Chicago, Milwaukee, Elston to Division and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #70 buses will travel the regular route.
 
Southbound #132 Goose Island Express buses will travel over the regular route along Halsted past Division to North Branch then will operate via North Branch, Cherry to Division and then resume the regular route. Northbound #132 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Construction Temporarily Detours #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland Buses

Due to construction work at the northeast corner of South Boulevard and Ridgeland, southbound #86 Narragansett/Ridgeland buses will be temporarily detoured on weekdays only between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. until Tuesday, July 7.
 
Southbound #86 buses will operate over the regular route along Lake Street past Lombard to Austin then will travel via Austin, Washington, Ridgeland to the intersection of Ridgeland/South Boulevard and will make a near side service stop before beginning northbound service. Northbound #86 buses will continue north on Ridgeland over the regular route.
 

Temporary Removal of Bus Stop along the #81 Lawrence Route

Until Friday, August 21, the eastbound far side stop at Lawrence/Oakley, served by #81 Lawrence buses, temporarily will be removed from service due to construction work. Customers can board at the eastbound near side stops at Lawrence/Western or Lawrence/Leavitt.
 

Relocation of Bus Stops along the #53 Pulaski and #94 South California Routes

Effective immediately, the following bus stops will be relocated:
 
#53 Pulaski
The northbound far side stop at Pulaski/Wabansia, served by #53 buses, will be relocated to a near side stop.
 
#94 South California
The northbound far side stop at California/Harrison, served by #94 buses, will be relocated to a near side stop.
 

Taste of Randolph Detours #X20 Washington/Madison Express Buses

Randolph Street between Ada and Ogden will be closed to all traffic until 10 p.m. Sunday, June 21, due to the annual Taste of Randolph Festival.
 
Westbound #X20 Washington/Madison Express buses will operate over the regular route along Randolph to Morgan then will travel via Morgan, Madison, Racine to Randolph and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #X20 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

The Belmont Arts and Music Festival Detours #77 Belmont Buses This Weekend

Belmont Avenue between Western and Damen will be closed to all traffic from 2 a.m. Saturday, June 20 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 22, due to the Belmont Arts and Music Festival.
 
Eastbound #77 Belmont buses will travel over the regular route along Belmont to Clybourn then will operate via Clybourn, Damen to Belmont and then resume the regular route. Westbound #77 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Annual Puerto Rican Parade Reroutes CTA Buses

From 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20, Columbus Drive between Monroe and Roosevelt, and Monroe Drive between Lake Shore Drive and Michigan Avenue will be closed for the annual Puerto Rican Parade. The parade will step-off at noon.
 
Southbound #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #14 Jeffery Express buses will operate along their regular routes to Balbo/Michigan and then will travel via Michigan, Roosevelt to Columbus and then resume their regular routes. Northbound buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Children’s Memorial Race for Kids Detours Buses Saturday Morning

From 6 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, Museum Campus Drive between Waldron and McFetridge and Solidarity Drive will be closed to all traffic due to the Children’s Memorial Race for Kids. 
 
During this time, southbound #130 Museum Campus and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will not be able to make stops past McFetridge/Solidarity Drive. Buses will instead operate over their regular routes along Columbus, east on McFetridge to the south side of the Field Museum. Northbound #130 and #146 buses will operate west on McFetridge over the regular route.
 

Juneteenth Freedom Parade Detours Four Bus Routes on Saturday

Due to the annual Juneteenth Freedom Parade, 79th Street between Stony Island and South Shore Drive will be closed to all traffic from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 20. The parade will step-off at 10 a.m. and will proceed east on 79th Street from Stony Island to South Shore Drive.
 
Southbound #6 Jackson Park Express buses will operate over the regular route along South Shore to 76th Street then will travel via 76th Street, Coles, 75th Street to South Shore for the end of route and start of northbound service. Northbound #6 buses will operate east on 75th Street to South Shore and then will travel north along South Shore over the regular route.
 
Southbound #14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses will travel over their regular routes along Jeffery Boulevard to 76th Street then will operate via 76th Street, Stony Island, South Chicago to Jeffery and then resume their regular routes.
 
Northbound #14 and #15 buses will operate over their regular routes along Jeffery Boulevard to Anthony then will travel via Anthony, Stony Island, 76th Street to Jeffery and then resume their regular routes.
 
Eastbound #79 79th buses will travel over the regular route along 79th Street to Stony Island then will operate via Stony Island, 76th Street, South Shore, 75th Street to the terminal for end of route and start of westbound service from 75th Street/South Shore. Westbound #79 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Work on Viaduct Temporarily Detours #X20 Washington/Madison Buses

Eastbound #X20 Madison buses will be rerouted from Warren Boulevard between California and Western until 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, due to work associated with the Union Pacific Railroad viaduct.
 
Eastbound #X20 buses will travel over the regular route along Warren to California then will operate via California, Madison, Western to Warren and then resume the regular route. Westbound #X20 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Water Main Work Detours #9 Ashland Buses Through the End of June

Beverly Avenue between 99th Street and 103rd Street will be closed to all traffic until 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, due to water main construction work.
 
Southbound #9 Ashland buses will travel over the regular route along Beverly to 99th Street then will operate via 99th Street to Vincennes and then resume the regular route south of 103rd Street. Northbound #9 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Westbound #78 Montrose Buses Temporarily Rerouted in June

The westbound lane of Montrose Avenue between Damen and Ashland will be closed to all traffic until 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, due to water main repairs.
 
Westbound #78 Montrose buses will travel over the regular route along Montrose to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, Wilson, Damen to Montrose and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #78 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Sewer Repair Work Reroutes #95E 93rd/95th and #N5 South Shore Night Buses

Due to sewer construction work, 93rd Street between Muskegon and Escanaba/Anthony/Exchange will be closed to all traffic until 4 p.m. Friday, July 10.
 
Eastbound #95E 93rd/95th and northbound #N5 South Shore Night buses will travel over their regular routes along 93rd Street to Colfax then will operate via Colfax, 95th Street, Escanaba to 93rd Street/Anthony/Exchange and then will travel northeast on Exchange over their regular routes. Westbound #95E and southbound #N5 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

#75 74th/75th Bus Stop Changes

Due to sewer construction work, the eastbound and westbound bus stops at 75th Street/Indiana, served by #75 74th/75th buses, temporarily will be removed from service until 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 13.
 
Eastbound customers can board and exit #75 buses from the near side stops at 75th Street/Prairie or 75th Street/Michigan.
 
Westbound customers can board and exit #75 buses from the near side stops at 75th Street/Michigan or 75th Street/Prairie.
 

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Construction

Until Friday, July 17, #60 Blue Island/26th buses operating in both directions will be rerouted due to the closure of Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Street and the closure of Loomis Street between Cermak and 18th Street. The street closures are due to construction work at the Benito Juarez School campus.
 
Eastbound #60 Blue Island buses will operate over the regular route along Blue Island to Ashland then will travel via Ashland, 18th Street to Loomis/Blue Island and then resume the regular route along Blue Island. Westbound #60 buses will travel over the regular route along Blue Island past Laflin to 21st Street then will operate via 21st Street, Ashland to Cermak/Blue Island and then resume the regular route along Blue Island.
 

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer’s Market

From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday beginning May 16 through October 31, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer’s Market.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route.
 
Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route. 
 

Buses Rerouted Due to Construction on Milwaukee Avenue

Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will be rerouted until Monday, November 30, due to construction on Milwaukee Avenue between Gale and Montrose.
 
Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will travel over their regular routes to Lawrence/Milwaukee to a far side stop then will continue eastbound on Lawrence to Lipps, heading north on Lipps to enter the Jefferson Park bus terminal. Westbound #81W and southbound #91 buses are not affected and will travel along their regular routes.
 

14 CTA Bus Routes Affected Due to Jackson Viaduct Work

Due to the reconstruction of the Jackson Boulevard viaduct between Canal and Wacker, changes in service along 14 CTA bus routes are expected to remain in place until April 2010. The following CTA bus routes are being rerouted to adjacent streets:
