Blue Line Other Events Affecting Service

Trains Operating on the Same Track between LaSalle and Grand Stations This Weekend

All Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the southbound (to Forest Park) tracks between the LaSalle and Grand Blue Line stations from 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning on Friday night, July 23 and then again on Saturday night, July 24, due to subway cleaning.
 
Blue Line customers at the Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake stations traveling northbound (to O’Hare) must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

All Late Night Trains to Operate on Single Track on the Forest Park Branch Next Week

All Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the westbound (to Forest Park) tracks between the Western and UIC-Halsted stations from 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning on Monday night, July 26 and then again on Tuesday night, July 27, due to track maintenance work.
 
Customers at the Illinois Medical Center and Racine stations traveling eastbound (to the Loop) must board and exit trains from the westbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Late Night Trains to Operate on the Same Track between Western and Halsted Stations

All late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the eastbound (to the Loop) tracks between the Halsted and Western stations from 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning on Wednesday night, July 28 and then again Thursday night, July 29, due to track maintenance work.
 
Customers at the Racine and Illinois Medical Center stations traveling westbound (to Forest Park) must board and exit trains from the eastbound (to the Loop) side of the platform. 
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Green Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Trains to Operate on the Same Track between the 47th and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT Stations on Sunday

A two-phase single track will be in effect on the Green Line between the 47th and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT stations on Sunday, July 25 from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m.
 
Northbound
From 6 a.m. until approximately noon, northbound trains will operate on the southbound (to Ashland/63rd or Cottage Grove) tracks between the 47th and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT stations. Customers at the 43rd Street and Indiana stations must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Ashland/63rd or Cottage Grove) platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA Operators will announce the direction of each train.
 
Southbound
From approximately noon until 5 p.m., southbound trains will operate on the northbound (to Harlem/Lake) tracks between the 35th-Bronzeville-IIT and 47th Street stations. Customers at the Indiana and 43rd Street station must board and exit trains from the northbound (to Harlem/Lake) platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

11 CTA Bus Routes Temporarily Rerouted for “Transformers 3” Filming

Eleven downtown CTA bus routes will be temporarily detoured due to the closure of Wacker between Michigan and State for the filming of “Transformers 3.” The reroutes are in effect from 8 p.m., Friday, July 23 until approximately 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 27. 
 
CTA recommends that customers whose routes normally travel along Wacker between State and Wabash allow extra travel time. Generally, most northbound and eastbound buses will move from Wacker to Washington and southbound and westbound buses to Randolph.

#56 Milwaukee Buses Undergo Temporary Reroute

Milwaukee Avenue between Logan/Troy and Kedzie is closed to all traffic due to the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival until approximately 5 p.m. Monday, July 26.
 
Northbound #56 Milwaukee buses are traveling over the regular route to Milwaukee/Kedzie-Logan then are turning right and heading northwest on Kedzie-Logan around the Inner Circle Drive statue to Milwaukee, turning right and continuing northwest on Milwaukee over the regular route.
 
Southbound #56 buses are traveling over the regular route to Milwaukee/Kedzie, turning right then are continuing southeast on Kedzie around the Inner Circle Drive statue to Milwaukee then turning right and heading southeast on Milwaukee over the regular route.
 

Change to Bus Stop along #156 LaSalle Bus Route

A traffic lane reduction is in effect at LaSalle/Kinzie due to a Commonwealth Edison project. As a result, the northbound far side stop served by #156 LaSalle buses has been temporarily removed from service until Friday, November 12.
 

Change to Bus Stop Served by #21 Cermak and #60 Blue Island/26th Street Buses

Due to a streetscape project, the westbound near side stop at Cermak/Laflin served by #21 Cermak and #60 Blue Island/26th buses has been temporarily removed from service until Monday, August 23.
 

#22 Clark Buses Reroute for Celebrate Clark Street Festival

From midnight Saturday morning, July 24 until midnight Sunday morning, July 25, #22 Clark buses will undergo temporary reroute due to the Celebrate Clark Street festival.
 
Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Clark/Morse then will operate via Morse, Ashland, Touhy then return to Clark and resume the regular route. Southbound buses will travel the reverse route.
 

#50 Damen Buses Undergo Temporary Reroute This Weekend

Damen between Lake Street and Grand Avenue is closed to all traffic due to railroad repairs from 6 a.m. Saturday, July 25 until approximately 6 p.m. Sunday, July 25.
 
Northbound #50 Damen buses will travel over the regular route to Damen/Warren then will operate via Warren, Ashland, Grand to Damen and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Damen/Grand then will operate via Grand, Ashland, Washington to Damen and then resume the regular route.
 
 

Disability Pride Parade Detours 12 Bus Routes on Saturday

Twelve CTA bus routes will be temporarily rerouted in the downtown area from 9:30 a.m. until approximately 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24 for the Disability Pride Parade. The parade steps off at 11 a.m. and will proceed north on Van Buren to Daley Plaza.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. The affected routes are:

Daytime Relocation of #151 Sheridan and #152 Addison Bus Stops Next Week

Due to rail structure inspections at the Addison and Sheridan Red Line stations next week, the following bus stops will be temporarily relocated from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day beginning Monday, July 26 through Wednesday, July 28.
 
#151 Sheridan
  • Sheridan Red Line Station: customers who normally board and exit northbound #151 buses at the Sheridan Red Line station will need to board and exit buses from the temporary northbound near side stop on Sheridan at Irving Park.
 
#152 Addison
  • Addison Red Line Station: customer who normally board and exit westbound #152 buses at the Addison station will need to board and exit buses from the temporary westbound near side stop on Addison at Sheffield.
 

#55A 55th/Austin Buses Temporarily Rerouted Next Week

From 6 a.m. Monday, July 26 until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, July 30, Austin Avenue between 59th Street and the railroad tracks (north of 60th Street) will be closed due to the resurfacing of the grade crossing, resulting in the reroute of #55A 55th/Austin buses.
 
Westbound #55A buses will travel over the regular route along Austin to 59th Street then will operate via 59th Street, Narragansett, 60th Street to Austin and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #55A buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Railroad Crossing Repair Work Temporarily Detours Four Bus Routes Next Week

From 6 a.m. Monday, July 26 until approximately 4 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 95th Street between Eggleston and the railroad tracks (west of Harvard) will be closed to all traffic resulting in a reroute of #9 Ashland (Owl Service only), #95W West 95th, #108 Halsted/95th and #112 Vincennes/111th buses.
 
Eastbound #95W and #112, southbound #9 (Owl Service only) and northbound #108 buses all will travel over their regular routes along 95th Street to Eggleston then will operate via Eggleston, 97th Street, Wentworth to 95th Street and then resume their regular routes.
 
Westbound #95W, #112 and northbound #9 (Owl Service only) buses will operate over their regular routes along 95th Street to Wentworth then will travel via Wentworth, 97th Street, Eggleston, 98th Place, Halsted to 95th Street and then resume their regular routes.
 
Southbound #108 buses will travel over the regular route along 95th Street to Wentworth then will operate via Wentworth, 97th Street, Eggleston, 98th Place to Halsted and then resume the regular route.
 

#103 West 103rd Buses Detoured Next Week for Railroad Crossing Repair Work

From 6 a.m. Monday, July 26 until approximately 4 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 103rd Street between Eggleston and the railroad tracks (west of Harvard) will be closed to all traffic resulting in a reroute of #103 West 103rd buses.
 
Westbound #103 buses will operate over the regular route along 103rd Street to Wentworth then will travel via Wentworth, 101st Street, Eggleston to 103rd Street and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #103 buses will travel over the regular route along 103rd Street to Normal then will operate via Normal, 101st Street, Wentworth to 103rd Street and then resume the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at LaSalle/Quincy

From approximately 5 a.m. Monday, July 26 until 4 p.m. Friday, August 20, the northbound near side bus stop at LaSalle/Quincy will be temporarily relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction. This stop is served by #134 Stockton/LaSalle Express, #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express, #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express and #156 LaSalle buses.
 

Lawndale Community Event Temporarily Detours #12 Roosevelt Buses Next Week

Roosevelt Road between Kedzie and Homan will be closed from 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, July 28 until noon Monday, August 2, for the annual Lawndale Community Carnival event.
 
Eastbound #12 Roosevelt buses will operate over the regular route along Roosevelt to Homan then will travel via Homan, Arthington, Kedzie to Roosevelt and then resume the regular route. Westbound #12 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Annual Fiesta del Sol Festival Detours Two Routes Beginning Next Week

Cermak Road between Morgan and Loomis will be closed from 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 28 until noon Monday, August 2, for the 38th Annual Fiesta del Sol Festival. As a result of this street closure, #21 Cermak and #60 Blue Island/26th buses will be detoured to adjacent streets.
 
Eastbound #21 buses will travel over the regular route along Cermak to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 18th Street, Halsted to Cermak and then resume the regular route. Westbound #21 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #60 buses will operate over the regular route along Blue Island to Ashland then will travel via Ashland, 18th Street to Blue Island and then resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Water Main Reconstruction Project Detours Westbound #56A North Milwaukee Buses

Currently in effect until Sunday, August 1, Devon Avenue between New Castle and Oak Park will be closed to all traffic due to a water main reconstruction project.
 
Westbound #56A North Milwaukee buses are traveling over the regular route along Milwaukee to Nagle then are operating via Nagle, Northwest Highway to Harlem and then resuming the regular route.
 

#81 Lawrence Bus Stops near the Kennedy Expressway Temporarily Eliminated

Currently in effect until Tuesday, August 31, the eastbound and westbound near side bus stops on Lawrence at LeClaire served by #81 Lawrence buses have been temporarily removed from service due to rehabilitation work on the Lawrence Avenue viaduct.
 

Temporary Elimination of Bus Stop at Michigan/Delaware

Currently in effect until Tuesday, August 31, the southbound near side stop at Michigan/Delaware has been temporarily removed from service due to sidewalk reconstruction work.
 
This stop is served by #33 Mag Mile Express, #143 Stockton/Michigan Express, #144 Marine/Michigan Express, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express, #148 Clarendon/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
 
Customers may board and exit these buses from the near side stop at Michigan/Pearson.
 

Temporary Relocation of #75 74th/75th Bus Stop at 75th Street/Jeffery

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday, September 30, the eastbound near side stop at 75th Street/Jeffery served by #75 74th/75th buses has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Temporary Reroute in Effect for #78 Montrose Buses Due to Work at Clark/Wilson

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, October 29, #78 Montrose buses are temporarily unable to make turns at the intersection of Clark/Wilson due to a streetscape project.
 
Eastbound #78 Montrose buses are operating over the regular route along Montrose to Ashland then are traveling via Ashland, east on Wilson past Clark and then resuming the regular route east on Wilson. Westbound #78 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Temporary Removal of #22 Clark Bus Stop at Clark/Wilson

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, October 29, the southbound far side bus stop at Clark/Wilson served by #22 Clark buses has been removed from service due to a streetscape project.
 

#111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses Undergo Reroutes Due to Bridge Repair Work

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday, October 31, the 111th Street Bridge over Interstate 57 (I-57) is closed to all traffic due to bridge and deck replacement work, resulting in a detour of the #111 Pullman/111th/115th bus route.
 
Southbound #111 buses are operating over the regular route along 111th Street to Marshfield then traveling via Marshfield, 112th Place, Hamlet to 111th Street and then resuming the regular route east on 111th Street.
 
Northbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 111th Street to Throop then operating via Throop, 107th Street, Vincennes and then resuming the regular route south on Vincennes past 111th Street.
 

Temporary Removal of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Jackson/Sangamon

Currently in effect until Friday, September 30, 2011, the eastbound far side stop at Jackson/Sangamon served by #126 Jackson buses has been temporarily removed from service due to nearby construction. Customers may board and exit eastbound #126 buses at either Jackson/Morgan or Jackson/Peoria.
 

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer’s Market

From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 30, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer’s Market, resulting in a detour of the #36 Broadway and #70 Division bus routes.
 
Southbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #70 buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route. 
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Jeffery/75th Street

Currently in effect until further notice, the southbound far side bus stop at Jeffery/75th Street has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop due to sidewalk construction. This stop is served by southbound #14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses.
 

Temporary Changes in Service for #21 Cermak and #62 Archer Buses Serving the Cermak-Chinatown Station

Currently in effect, customers at the Cermak-Chinatown Red Line station must use the new entrance located approximately one block north of Cermak on Archer Avenue. This entrance will serve as the primary access point for customers while the main entrance to the station on the north side of Cermak is reconstructed and made accessible. 
 
As a result of these changes, and to accommodate customers transferring between bus and rail services, the following changes have been made to buses serving the station:
 
#21 Cermak
Eastbound #21 Cermak buses are traveling over the regular route along Cermak to Wentworth then operating via Wentworth, Archer, Clark to Cermak and resuming the regular route. Westbound #21 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 
  • Cermak/Wentworth: the near side stop at Cermak/Wentworth served by eastbound #21 buses has been temporarily removed from service.
  • Wentworth/Cermak: new temporary stops have been added at Wentworth/Cermak for eastbound and westbound #21 buses. Eastbound customers must board and exit buses from the far side stop; westbound customers must board and exit buses from the near side stop.
  • Cermak/Red Line Station: the mid-block stop near the Cermak Road entrance of the Cermak-Chinatown station has been temporarily removed from service.
  • Archer/Red Line Station: eastbound #21 buses are serving the new temporary mid-block stop near the Archer Avenue entrance of the Cermak-Chinatown station.
  • Wentworth/Archer: westbound #21 buses are serving the new temporary far side stop at Wentworth/Archer.
 
#62 Archer
  • Archer/Wentworth: the northbound near side stop at Archer/Wentworth served by #62 buses has been removed from service.
  • Archer/Red Line Station: northbound #62 buses are serving the new mid-block stop near the Archer Avenue entrance of the Cermak-Chinatown station.
 

#56 Milwaukee Bus Stop at Milwaukee/Diversey Temporarily Relocated

Until further notice, the southbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Diversey served by #56 Milwaukee buses has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop.
 

Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses

Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets until further notice.
 
Southbound #29 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
 
Southbound #36 buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
 

Temporary Changes to Bus Stops near Sheridan/Foster

Currently in effect until further notice, the northbound near side stop at Sheridan/Foster has been temporarily removed from service due to the demolition and reconstruction of a nearby building. This stop is served by #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
 

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, Franklin Street between Harrison and Van Buren and Lower Wacker Drive between Randolph and Harrison are closed until May 2012. As a result of these closures and other street reconfigurations, the following changes in bus service currently are in effect:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are traveling over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then are operating via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and resuming the regular route. Southbound #11 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes also have been made to bus stops served by northbound #11 buses:
 
  • Canal/Harrison: a far side stop has been added to service.
  • Canal/Jackson: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Jackson at the Chicago River: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • 404 W. Harrison: the mid-block stop has been removed from service.
  • Franklin/Van Buren: the far side stop has been removed from service.
 
#121 Union/Wacker Express
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Southbound #121 buses are operating over the regular route along Lower Wacker to the exit ramp for Upper Wacker and then traveling via Upper Wacker to Adams and resuming the regular route west on Adams.
 
#135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express buses are traveling south on Wacker to Jackson then are traveling east on Jackson past Franklin and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #135 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #136 Sheridan/LaSalle buses are operating south on Wacker to Van Buren then are traveling via Van Buren, Canal to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #136 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#156 LaSalle (PM Service Only)
During the evening rush period only, northbound #156 LaSalle buses departing from Union Station are traveling west on Van Buren to Wacker then are operating via Wacker to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary bus stop change has been made and is in effect for northbound #156 buses during the evening rush period only: 
 
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
