EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF JULY 2 - 4

Note: All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday schedule Monday, July 5, in commemoration of Independence Day.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Tuesday Through Thursday Due to the Independence Day holiday, there will be no single track work on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line this weekend.

When work on the Red Line resumes Tuesday, single track service will be in effect southbound from 33rd to 55th Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 am. Tuesday, July 6 through Thursday, July 8.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Red Line By-Pass Tracks in ServiceDue to the Dan Ryan Red Line reconstruction, CTA trains are using by-pass tracks between 43rd and 45th Streets until mid-July.

CTA trains also are using by-pass tracks between 62nd and 58th Streets until late August.

Customers will continue to board trains at their normal stations.

Additional Service Provided for Taste of ChicagoVisitors to Taste of Chicago in Grant Park, through Sunday, July 4 will find CTA service the most effective way to travel. Longer trains will operate into the Loop until late every night. Additional buses will be available toward the close of each evening's activities to carry customers home.

More extensive service will be available Saturday and Sunday evening, July 3 and 4 for spectators going to Navy Pier or Grant Park to watch the fireworks display. Customers attending Taste and the fireworks are encouraged to purchase Transit Cards in advance to avoid waiting in lines to purchase cards for their trips in and out of the downtown area.

75th Street Bridge over the Dan Ryan Expressway Closes for Construction Beginning TuesdayThe 75th Street bridge over the Dan Ryan Expressway will be closed between Lafayette and State from 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 6 through Sunday, October 31. During construction, Westbound #75 74th/75th buses will be rerouted and willnot serve the 79th Street Red Line station. Instead, customers are asked to use the 69th Street Red Line station. Westbound #75 buses will operate via 75th, State, 69th Street Red Line station, Lafayette, back to 75th, then resume the regular route. Eastbound service will not be affected and will continue to serve the 79th street station.

Bus Terminal Closes for Reconstruction Beginning TuesdayThe #152 Addison bus terminal at Addison/Pontiac will be closed from 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 6 until 6 a.m. Friday, July 9. Westbound #152 buses will operate via Addison, Forest Preserve Drive, Cumberland, back to Addison where they will begin their eastbound trips.

Dearborn Bridge Over the Chicago River Closes MidweekThe Dearborn bridge over the Chicago River will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, July 7 ? 9. Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway, #62 Archer buses will operate via Wacker, LaSalle, Kinzie, back to Dearborn, then resume the regular route. #62 buses will take Kinzie back to State to begin their southbound trips. Southbound service on #22 and #36 buses will not be affected.
