Red Line Single Track in Effect Friday Night Through Next Thursday NightDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between 79th and 94th Streets from 8 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Saturday and northbound in the same location from 8 p.m. Saturday until 3 p.m. Sunday.
Single track service will be in effect northbound between 69th and 63rd Streets Sunday through Tuesday nights from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m.
Single track service will be in effect northbound between 63rd and 55th Streets Wednesday and Thursday nights from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m.
Customers should allow additional travel time while the work is being performed.
By-Pass Tracks in ServiceAs part of the work, CTA Red Line trains will begin using the first set of by-pass tracks this weekend between 87th and 84th Streets. Customers will continue to board trains at their normal station locations.
Irving Park Closes for Construction Friday NightIrving Park Road will be closed westbound only between Ashland and Damen from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday for street construction at Ravenswood Avenue. Westbound #80 Irving Park buses will operate via Ashland, Montrose, Damen, back to Irving Park and resume the regular route. Eastbound service will not be affected.
Racine Closed for Sewer WorkRacine is closed southbound only between Taylor and Roosevelt for sewer work until Friday, April 9. Southbound #60 Blue Island buses will operate via Racine, Taylor, Throop, Roosevelt, back to Racine then resume the regular route. Northbound service will not be affected.
#10 Museum of Science & Industry Bus Extends Hours To accommodate longer hours at the Museum of Science and Industry, #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will operate every 30 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays through the weekend of April 10 ? 11 until 5:25 p.m. from Chestnut/Lake Shore Drive to the museum and until 6:10 p.m. from the museum to Chestnut/Lake Shore Drive.
55th Street Closes for Metra Viaduct Work Next Thursday55th Street will be closed eastbound only between LaSalle and State from 7 a.m. Thursday, April 6 until 5 p.m. Friday, April 9 for viaduct construction on Metra's Rock Island line. Eastbound #55 Garfield and #X55 Garfield Express buses will operate via 55th, Wentworth, 51st, State, back to 55th then resume the regular route. Westbound service and service to the Garfield Red Line station will not be affected.
Bridge Testing for Upcoming Boating Season Continues All affected bus routes will be detoured to adjacent streets for the duration of the closures.
The Chicago Avenue bridge over the Chicago River will be tested from 9:30 a.m. until noon Tuesday, April 6. This closure will affect buses on the #66 Chicago route.
The Jackson bridge will be closed for repairs and testing from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 7. This closure will affect buses on the #1 Indiana/Hyde Park, #7 Harrison, #28 Stony Island Express, #126 Jackson, #151 Sheridan and #156 LaSalle routes.
The Halsted bridge over the north branch of the river will be tested from 9:30 a.m. until noon Thursday, April 8. This closure will affect buses on the #8 Halsted route.
