CTA to Place New Northbound Track and Platform at Belmont Station into Service August 9

Single Track in Effect Weekend of August 11 at Sedgwick and Chicago Stations

The Chicago Transit Authority today announced that crews will be placing the newly constructed northbound platform and tracks into service at the Belmont Brown/Red/Purple Express station at 10 p.m. Thursday, August 9. The new platform and tracks are located east of the current platform and tracks. Customers will have to board northbound Red, Brown and Purple Line Express trains on the east side of the new northbound platform.

In addition, crews will be working on the canopy at the Sedgwick station the weekend of August 11. Northbound Brown Line trains will share the tracks with southbound Brown Line trains at the Sedgwick and Chicago Avenue stations. Customers will board both northbound and southbound trains on the southbound side of the platform at these stations starting at 1 a.m. Saturday, August 11 to 4:30 a.m. Monday, August 13.
