The Chicago Transit Authority will host an all-day career fair on Saturday, May 20, 2000 at the Holiday Inn Apparel Center's Grand Ballroom, 350 N. Orleans.
Representatives from all CTA Departments will be available for individual appointments to discuss employment opportunities in areas as diverse as engineering, management information systems (MIS), finance, human resources, purchasing, and operations. The CTA Career Fair will be regulated to allow interested individuals a set time to meet one-on-one with the specific departments.
?To keep pace in an increasingly competitive market, the CTA needs to employ new initiatives to hire and retain the best people. Scheduled job fairs provide a good forum for the direct dialogue necessary to recruit high-quality candidates," said Joyce Coleman, CTA Vice-President of Employee Services.
The CTA will continue to recruit new employees through traditional area college fairs as well as newspaper, trade journal, and magazine advertising. In the last year, postings have also appeared on the CTA's website, www.transitchicago.com and most recently at the internet recruitment site,www.jobs.com.

Applicants for entry-level and technical positions will be scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.; professional positions will be directed to the afternoon session that runs between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. A limited number of appointments are still available.
