CTA to Hold Public Hearing on Requested Service Adjustment to the #168 UIC-Pilsen Express Route

March 26, 2010

In response to a request from United Parcel Service (UPS), the Chicago Transit Authority will hold a public hearing next month to receive input on the possible elimination of the #168 UIC-Pilsen bus route. UPS, which subsidizes this route, has requested its elimination.

The #168 operates between the UIC-Halsted Blue Line station on the Forest Park branch and the UPS facility in Hodgkins on weekdays for shift changes. Alternative service to the UPS facility is available via the #169, which operates from the 69th Street Red Line station and is also subsidized by UPS. Customers in the Pilsen neighborhood can connect to the Red Line using either the #18 16th/18th or the #21 Cermak bus routes.

The hearing regarding the proposed elimination of the #168 bus route will be held on:

Thursday, April 8 at 8:00 a.m.
