Construction work planned for this weekend will require reroutes of Red and Brown Line trains in various areas between Belmont and Sheridan. This could cause delays in service so Red and Brown Line customers are advised to allow extra travel time. Several major construction projects are currently underway on the rail system and CTA is working to minimize the impact on customers while coordinating efforts to accommodate multiple construction crews.
CTA is currently upgrading crossover tracks and signals throughout the Clark Junction corridor, the busy location where Brown, Red and Purple Line trains converge just north of Belmont on the City's North Side. The upgrade to the
100-year-old junction will bring new signals and additional connections between tracks to allow trains to cross over to adjacent tracks.
Red Line Service
8 p.m. Friday, June 9 to 8 a.m. Saturday, June 10 - Northbound Red Line trains will operate on Brown Line tracks at Belmont station and on the outer tracks at Sheridan station. At Belmont and Sheridan stations, northbound Red Line customers will board on the north side of the northbound platform. At Sheridan station, southbound Red Line customers will board on the south side of the southbound platform.
Red Line trains will be unable to stop at Addison station during these hours. CTA will provide shuttle train service in both directions between Addison and Sheridan stations. Northbound customers boarding at Addison will exit the shuttle train at Sheridan and board a northbound Red Line train on the north side of the platform to continue traveling north. Southbound customers exiting at Addison will exit the southbound Red Line train at Sheridan and board the shuttle train on the south side of the platform to continue traveling south.
8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 10 ? Northbound Red Line trains will operate on Brown Line tracks at Belmont station. At Belmont, northbound Red Line customers will board on the east, or Brown Line, side of the northbound platform instead of the west side of that platform.
Northbound Red Line trains will be unable to stop at Addison station during these hours. Northbound customers wanting to exit at Addison will need to exit at Sheridan station and board a southbound Red Line train to travel back to Addison.
Southbound Red Line trains will arrive at Addison station on the northbound Red Line tracks. Southbound customers will board and exit southbound trains at Addison on the east (northbound) side of the platform. Southbound Red Line trains will resume normal service at Belmont.
6 p.m. Saturday, June 10 to 8 a.m. Sunday June 11 ? Northbound Red Line trains will operate on Brown Line tracks at Belmont station. At Belmont, northbound Red Line customers will board on the east, or Brown Line, side of the northbound platform instead of the west side of that platform.
From Belmont, northbound Red Line trains will continue north on Brown Line tracks where they will cross back to normal Red Line service just north of Addison station and pull back to the Addison station to serve customers.
Southbound Red Line service is unaffected.
At 8 a.m. Sunday, June 11 northbound Red Line service will resume normal operation.
Brown Line Service
8 p.m. Friday, June 9 to 8 a.m. Sunday, June 11 - Northbound Brown Line trains will board on the west, or Red Line, side of the northbound platform at Fullerton station.
At Belmont station, northbound and southbound Brown Line trains will share the southbound Brown Line tracks. Northbound Brown Line customers will board on the same platform and same side of the platform as southbound Brown Line customers.
Northbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Wellington and Diversey platforms during these hours. Customers who wish to exit at these stations will need to travel to the Belmont station and transfer to a southbound Brown Line train to travel back to these stations.
At 8 a.m. Sunday, June 11 northbound Brown Line trains will resume normal service.
