Construction work planned for this weekend will require reroutes of southbound Brown Line shuttle trains and southbound Red Line trains early Sunday morning. This could cause delays in service so customers are advised to allow extra travel time. Several major construction projects are currently underway on the rail system and CTA is working to minimize the impact on customers while coordinating efforts to accommodate multiple construction crews.
CTA is currently upgrading crossover tracks and signals throughout the Clark Junction corridor, the busy location where Brown, Red and Purple Line trains converge just north of Belmont on the City's North Side. The upgrade to the
100-year-old junction will bring new signals and additional connections between tracks to allow trains to cross over to adjacent tracks.
Brown Line Shuttle Service
12:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 25 ? Southbound and northbound Brown Line shuttle trains operating between Kimball and Belmont will operate on southbound Red Line tracks at Belmont station. At Belmont station, Brown Line customers will board and exit Brown Line shuttle trains on the east (Red Line) side of the platform instead of the west (Brown Line) side of the platform. Customers continuing southbound on Red Line trains will board at Belmont at the normal location on the east side of the platform.
Normal Brown Line service will resume at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 25.
Red Line Service
6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 25 ? Southbound Red Line trains will operate on southbound Brown Line tracks at Belmont station. At Belmont, Red Line customers will board southbound Red Line trains on the west platform (Brown Line side) to travel south toward the Loop.
At Addison station, southbound Red Line trains will stop at Addison as usual, then pull back northbound to cross over to southbound Purple Line tracks. Customers will board and exit Red Line trains at Addison as usual.
Normal southbound Red Line service will resume at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 25.
Northbound Red Line service is not affected.
