Effective Monday, March 19, service on the #151 Sheridan bus route will be changed so that all buses arriving downtown will go to Union Station.
The change will provide consistent service at all hours for #151 buses, which will operate downtown via Michigan and Adams to Union Station, where customers can connect to Metra and Amtrak trains. Stops for #151 buses along Adams and Jackson serve all CTA 'L' and subway lines entering the Loop and are convenient to the LaSalle Street Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center (North Western Station).
Until now, certain #151 Sheridan buses have operated downtown Monday through Saturday via Michigan and Congress to Wells before starting northbound trips east on Harrison and north on State. These buses will now end their trips with all other #151 buses.
Customers who have used #151 service for stops south of Adams will be able to reach the same locations on CTA's #145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #147 Outer Drive Express buses, which will continue to operate over the existing route via Michigan and Congress to Wells.
CTA will provide an early welcome to spring Sunday, March 18, when buses on the #63 63rd and #72 North routes begin serving the lakefront east of their regular terminals on weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Weekday service to the Jackson Park and North Avenue beaches, respectively, will begin Monday, June 11, and will continue through Labor Day, Monday, September 3.
The extension of weekend/holiday service on the #63 63rd route from the regular terminal at 63rd/Stony Island to the lakefront at Jackson Park will be via Hayes to Lake Shore Drive. Buses on the #72 North route will operate to the North Avenue beach via LaSalle Street and LaSalle Drive to a stop just north of the beach house.
