August 24, 1999
08/24/99

Track repairs at Harlem, near the west end of the Forest Park branch of CTA's Blue Line, will require replacing trains with bus service between the Oak Park Avenue and Forest Park stations from late Friday, August 27, through early Monday, August 30.

Blue Line trains will operate as far west as Oak Park Avenue in Oak Park, where customers will change to buses for service to the stations at Harlem and at Desplaines Avenue in Forest Park.

The bus shuttle will be in effect from 9 p.m. Friday, August 27, through 4 a.m. Monday, August 30. During this period, customers traveling west of the Austin station should allow from 5 to 15 minutes of extra travel time.

Notices about the track work and shuttle bus service are being posted at each of the three affected stations and on Blue Line trains. Bus service frequency will correspond to the appropriate weekday, Saturday or Sunday train schedule.

Track work at other locations on the Forest Park branch of the Blue Line will be scheduled for weekends later this year.
