Blue Line Service Between Irving Park and Belmont Temporarily Suspended This Weekend

October 2, 2008

From 9 p.m. Friday, October 3 until 3 a.m. Monday, October 6, rail service between the Irving Park and Belmont Blue Line stations will be temporarily suspended in order to replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.

Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service between the Irving Park and Belmont stations, making stops at Belmont, Addison and Irving Park.

In addition, CTA personnel will be available to direct customers to awaiting buses. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Alternate service for customers with disabilities
CTA also will operate an express bus shuttle because the Belmont and Irving Park stations are not equipped with an elevator. Southbound customers who need an elevator to access rail service should board the CTA shuttle bus at Jefferson Park, which then will proceed directly to the accessible Logan Square station.

Northbound customers are advised to exit at Logan Square rather than traveling to Belmont, where they can board a CTA shuttle bus to the accessible Jefferson Park station.

Customers with disabilities also have the option of boarding a #56 Milwaukee bus which operates between the Logan Square and Jefferson Park stations.
