Weekend Service Changes

July 3rd and 4th Service for the Fireworks
Note: In observance of Independence Day, only bus routes and rail lines that operate on Sundays will be in service on Friday, July 3, 2009. On Saturday, July 4, buses and trains will operate regular Saturday service with extra service noted below.
Later Rail Service – July 3rd
Brown, Pink, Orange and Green lines will operate service from the Loop until 1:30am.
Purple and Yellow lines will operate service from Howard until 2am.
Extra Bus Service –July 3rd
Extra service will operate on the following routes before the fireworks (1pm to 9pm) and after the fireworks:

- 12 Roosevelt
- 14 Jeffery Express
- 20 Madison
- 22 Clark
- 29 State
- 36 Broadway

In general, customers leaving the Loop can board northbound buses along LaSalle, southbound buses along Clark andwestbound buses along Madison or Jackson. More detailed information on boarding locations, including maps, is provided on our Added service for Taste of Chicago, Fireworks page.
Later Rail Service – July 4th
Yellow Line will operate service from Howard until midnight.
Brown, Pink, Orange and Green lines will operate longer trains.
Extra Bus Service – July 4th
Extra service will operate after the fireworks until approximately 1:30am on the following routes:

Boarding Change, Delays Between Sox-35th and Garfield
How does this affect my trip?
11pm Sun to 1am Mon: Board/exit all trains on the Howard-bound side of the platform at the Sox-35th station.
1am to 4am Mon: Board/exit all trains on the Howard-bound side of the platform at the Sox-35th and 47th stations.
Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Sox-35th and Garfield stations, resulting in minor delays.
Allow extra travel time.
Why is service being changed?
We are performing track maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Red Line.
YELLOW LINE
Now through Sun, Jul 5
Extra Yellow Line Service
How does this affect my trip?
- Weekdays (except Friday, July 3): Trains will operate every 15 minutes until midnight from Howard.
- Weekends (including Saturday, July 4): Trains will operate every 10-15 minutes until midnight from Howard.
- On Friday, July 3 (Fireworks Night): Trains will operate every 10-15 minutes until 2am from Howard.
Note: Bicycles are not allowed on trains July 3 and 4.
Why is service being changed?
Extra service will operate on the Yellow Line for the Taste of Chicago and July 3rd Fireworks Night for the convenience of customers.

- 6pm to 8:30pm: Board southbound buses on Clark between Ontario and Roosevelt.
- 8:30pm to 11pm: Board southbound buses on Clark between Ontario and Roosevelt and on State between Roosevelt and 18th.
#4 Cottage Grove
- 6pm to 8:30pm: Board southbound buses on Clark between Kinzie and Roosevelt.
- 8:30pm to 11pm: Board southbound buses on Clark between Kinzie and Roosevelt.
#6 Jackson Park Express
8:30pm to 11pm: Board southbound buses on Clark between Kinzie and Roosevelt and on State between Roosevelt and 25th.
#10 Museum of Science & Industry
8:30pm to 11pm: Board southbound buses on Clark between Ontario and Congress and on State between Congress and 25th.

- 6pm to 8:30pm: Board eastbound buses on Monroe between Wacker and Dearborn. Buses will end their route at Dearborn/Madison. Board westbound buses on Madison west of Wacker.
- 8:30pm to 11pm: Eastbound buses will operate via Washington, Wacker, Monroe, Franklin, and Madison to end their route at Wacker. Board westbound buses on Madison west of Wacker.
#126 Jackson
- 6pm to 8:30pm: Eastbound buses will end their route at Jackson/Dearborn. Westbound buses will begin their trips on Adams at Wacker.
- 8:30pm to 11pm: Eastbound buses will end their route at Jackson/Franklin. Westbound buses will begin their route on Adams at Wacker.

8:30pm to 11pm: Southbound buses will operate via Clark, Adams and Franklin to end their route at Monroe. Board northbound buses on Franklin between Monroe and Wacker and on Dearborn north of Wacker.
#29 State
8:30pm to 11pm: Board northbound buses on LaSalle in the Loop. Board southbound buses on Clark between Grand and Roosevelt.
#36 Broadway
6pm to 8:30pm: Board southbound buses on Clark between Kinzie and Polk. Board northbound buses on LaSalle in the Loop.
8:30pm to 11pm: Board southbound buses on Clark between Kinzie and Adams. Board northbound buses on LaSalle in the Loop.
#62 Archer
8:30pm to 11pm: Board northbound buses on LaSalle in the Loop. Board southbound buses on Clark between Kinzie and Roosevelt.

8:30pm to 11pm: Eastbound buses will end their route at Roosevelt/State. Westbound buses will begin their route on Roosevelt at State.

#65 Grand
7pm to 10pm: Eastbound buses will end their route at Streeter/Grand and will not enter the Navy Pier Terminal. Westbound buses will begin their route on Grand at Streeter.
#66 Chicago
- 7pm to 9:30pm: Eastbound buses will end their route at Streeter/Grand and will not enter the Navy Pier Terminal. Westbound buses will begin their route on Grand at Streeter.
- 9:30pm to 11pm: Eastbound buses will end their route at Chicago/Fairbanks. Westbound buses will begin their route on Ontario at Fairbanks.
#124 Navy Pier
- 7pm to 9:30pm: Eastbound buses will end their route at Streeter/Grand and will not enter the Navy Pier Terminal. Westbound buses will begin their route on Grand at Streeter.
- 9:30pm to 11pm: Board eastbound buses on Dearborn between Wacker and Illinois and on Illinois east of Dearborn. Board westbound buses on Grand between Columbus and Clark, on Clark between Grand and Wacker and on Wacker between Lake and Madison.
