Magnificent Mile Lights Festival


Sat, Nov 21

Increased Capacity, More Frequent Rail Service

How does this affect my trip?
Red Line: Eight-car trains will operate every 6 minutes from 3pm to 8:30pm, and every 7-1/2 minutes from 8:30pm to 10:30pm.
Brown and Orange Lines: Six-car trains will operate from 3pm to 8pm.
Pink Line: Four-car trains will operate from 3pm to 8pm.

Why is service being changed?
Added service is being provided for the convenience of customers attending the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.

Normal Blue Line Subway Service  

How does this affect my trip?
Blue Line trains will operate normally through the Dearborn Subway this weekend. Trains will make all regular stops in both directions between O’Hare and Forest Park.

10pm Fri to 10am Sun

Boarding Change, Delays Between California and Irving Park

How does this affect my trip?
10pm to 11:59pm, Fri, Nov 20: Board/exit all trains on the Forest Park-bound side of the platform at the Belmont and Addison stations.
12:01am to 4am, Sat, Nov 21: Board/exit all trains on the Forest Park-bound side of the platform at the Logan Square, Belmont,  and Addison stations.
4am to 7am, Sat, Nov 21: Board/exit all trains on the Forest Park-bound side of the platform at the Logan Square station.
10pm to 11:59pm, Sat, Nov 21: Board/exit all trains on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform at the Addison and Belmont stations.
12:01am to 4am, Sun, Nov 22: Board/exit all trains on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform at the Addison, Belmont, and Logan Square stations.
4am to 10am, Sun, Nov 22: Board/exit all trains on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform at the Logan Square station.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are making signal improvements to allow trains to operate more efficiently along the Blue Line.

6pm Sun to 4am Mon

Boarding Change, Delays Between UIC-Halsted and Western (Forest Park branch) 

How does this affect my trip?
Board/exit all trains on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform at Racine and Illinois Medical District stations.

Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between UIC-Halsted and Western, resulting in minor delays.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are making track improvements to prevent slow zones and improve rail service along the Blue Line.



RED and BROWN LINES


Nov  20 - 21
8pm Fri to 4am Sat

Boarding Change at Fullerton, Loop-bound Trains Bypass Wellington and Diversey

How does this affect my trip?
Fullerton Station:
To Howard/Kimball: Board/exit all trains on the Brown/Purple lines side of the Howard/Kimball-bound platform.
To Loop, 95th: Board/exit all trains on the Red Line side of the Howard/Kimball-bound platform.

Wellington and Diversey Stations:
Loop-bound trains will not stop at the Wellington and Diversey stations.

For service to Wellington and Diversey, take a Loop-bound train to Fullerton and transfer to a Kimball-bound train.

For service from Wellington and Diversey, board a Kimball-bound train to Belmont and transfer to a Loop-bound train.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing station construction to modernize and expand stations along the Brown Line.


 

RED, PURPLE, YELLOW LINES

Howard Station Paulina Entrance Stairs and Escalators Out of Service 

How does this affect my trip?
The Howard station’s Paulina Street/bus terminal entrance stairs and escalators will be temporarily removed from service. Customers are encouraged to use the stairs at the Howard Street entrance.

Note: Elevators at the Paulina entrance will remain in service.

Why is service being changed?
The Paulina Street/bus terminal entrance stairs and escalators will be temporarily removed from service due to construction.



RED LINE


Nov 20 - 21 
10pm Fri to 6pm Sat 

95th-bound Trains Bypass Granville, Thorndale and Bryn Mawr 

How does this affect my trip?
95th-bound Red Line trains will not stop at the Granville, Thorndale and Bryn Mawr stations.

For service from these stations, take a Howard-bound train to Loyola and transfer to a 95th-bound train.

For service to these stations, take a 95th-bound train to Berwyn and transfer to a Howard-bound train.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing track maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Red Line.

#3 King Drive Temporary Reroute

3:45pm to 9:30pm or completion 

How does this affect my trip? 
Northbound buses will operate via Michigan, Randolph, Lower Randolph, Columbus, Fairbanks, and Erie into the terminal.

Southbound buses will operate via Ontario, Fairbanks, Columbus, and Randolph, then resume their normal route on Michigan.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.



#4 Cottage Grove Temporary Reroute

3:45pm to 9:30pm or completion 

How does this affect my trip? 
Northbound buses will end their trips at Randolph/Field.

Southbound buses will begin their trips at Columbus/Field and will operate via Randolph to Michigan, then resume their normal route on Michigan.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.



#6 Jackson Park Express Temporary Reroute

3:45pm to 9:30pm or completion 

How does this affect my trip? 
Northbound buses will operate via Michigan, Wacker Place, Wabash, and Wacker to end their trips at Wacker/State.

Southbound buses will begin their trips at Wacker/State to resume their normal route on State.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.

Between Michigan/Balbo and 31st/Lake Shore Drive, #6, #10 and #14 buses will operate in both directions via Michigan, Cermak, King Drive, 31st, and Lake Shore Drive.

Buses are rerouted due to the Chicago Bears vs Philadelphia Eagles game at Soldier Field.



#10 Museum of Science and Industry Temporary Reroute

How does this affect my trip? 
Northbound buses will operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Chicago, and Clark to end their trips at Clark/Chicago.

Southbound buses will begin their trips at Clark/Chicago and will operate via Clark and Wacker, then resume their normal route on State.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.

Northbound #22 and #36 buses will operate via Dearborn, Chicago, LaSalle, and Division, then resume their normal route on Clark.

Southbound #36 buses will operate via Clark and Wacker, then resume their normal route on State.

Southbound #22 buses are not affected

#66 Chicago Temporary Reroute

How does this affect my trip? 
Eastbound buses will operate via Chicago, Clark, and Illinois to Fairbanks, then resume their normal route on Illinois.

Westbound buses will operate via Grand and Dearborn to Chicago, then resume their normal route on Chicago.

#70 Division Temporary Reroute

Eastbound buses will operate via Division, LaSalle, North Avenue, Clark, and Division to end their trips at Division/Clark.

Westbound buses will begin their trips at Division/Clark to resume their normal route on Division.

#146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express Temporary Reroute

Southbound buses will operate via Columbus, Lake Shore Drive, 18th, and Museum Campus Drive.

Northbound buses will operate via Museum Campus Drive, Waldron Drive, and Lake Shore Drive, then resume their normal route on Columbus.

#151 Sheridan Temporary Reroute

Northbound buses will operate via State, Wacker, LaSalle, and LaSalle Drive, then resume their normal route on Stockton.

Southbound buses will operate via Stockton, LaSalle Drive, LaSalle, Wacker, and State, then resume their normal route on Adams.
