Increased Capacity, More Frequent Rail Service for 2016 NFL Draft

How does this affect my trip?
Increased Capacity - Friday:

Red Line: Longer trains will operate in both directions between 95th and Howard, 11pm to 11:59pm.
Brown Line: Longer trains will operate in both directions between Kimball and the Loop, 10pm to 11:59pm.
 
Orange Line: Longer trains will operate in both directions between Midway and the Loop, 7pm to 11:59pm.
 
Blue Line: Longer trains will operate between Forest Park and O’Hare, 10:30pm to 11:59pm.
 
More Frequent Rail Service and Increased Capacity – Saturday:
 
Red Line: Trains will operate in both directions between 95th and Howard every 5 minutes, 11am to 6:30pm, and every 6 minutes, 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
Brown Line: Longer trains will operate in both directions between Kimball and the Loop, 9am to 10pm.
Orange Line: Longer trains will operate in both directions between Midway and the Loop, 9am to 10pm.
 
Why is service being changed?
Added service is being provided for the convenience of customers attending the 2016 National Football League (NFL) Draft.

Montrose Station Temporary Closure
 
How does this affect my trip?
The Montrose station on the Blue Line will temporarily close.
 
Please use the adjacent stations at Jefferson Park and Irving Park.
 
A bus shuttle will operate between the Montrose and Irving Park stations.
 
Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing station construction to improve the Montrose station as part of the Your New Blue modernization program.

Delays Between Irving Park and Jefferson Park

How does this affect my trip?
Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Irving Park and Jefferson Park, resulting in minor delays.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing station construction to improve the Montrose station as part of the Your New Blue modernization program.

Bus Substitution Between Harlem/Lake and Laramie Stations

How does this affect my trip?
Shuttle buses replace rail service between Harlem/Lake and Laramie.

Trains operate between Laramie, Downtown and Ashland/63rd-Cottage Grove.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are making track improvements to prevent slow zones and to improve rail service as part of the Green Line West Track Renewal Project.

Boarding Change, Delays Between Cermak-Chinatown and Grand

How does this affect my trip?
11pm Fri to 5am Sat:
Board/exit all trains on the 95th-bound side of the platform at Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe, and Lake stations.

11pm Sat to 6am Sun: Board/exit all trains on the Howard-bound side of the platform at Lake, Monroe, Jackson, Harrison, and Roosevelt stations.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Red Line.

#7 Harrison
#60 Blue Island/26th

Effective Thu, Apr 28

How does this affect my trip?
#7 Harrison and #60 Blue Island/26th buses will resume their normal routing.

Buses will operate on Harrison between Morgan and Canal rather than rerouting eastbound via Morgan and Jackson or westbound via Clinton, Taylor, Halsted, and Jackson.

Why is service being changed?
Reconstruction work on the Harrison Bridge over the Dan Ryan Expressway has ended and the bridge has reopened.

How does this affect my trip?
The westbound #7 Harrison and #60 Blue Island/26th bus slop located on the northeast corner at Morgan/Harrison will be eliminated.

Why is service being changed?
Reconstruction work on the Harrison Bridge over the Dan Ryan Expressway has ended and the bridge has reopened.

and #60 Blue Island/26th buses will no longer serve the following bus stops:

  • westbound bus stop located on the northwest corner at Taylor/Jefferson.
  • northbound bus stops located on the northeast corners on Halsted at Polk and Taylor
  • southbound bus stops located on the southwest corners on Clinton at Polk and Taylor
  • eastbound bus stops located on the southeast corners on Jackson at Morgan, Peoria, Halsted, Desplaines, and Clinton
     

Why is service being changed?
Reconstruction work on the Harrison Bridge over the Dan Ryan Expressway has ended and the bridge has reopened.



Bus Stops Restored

How does this affect my trip?
The following #7 Harrison and #60 Blue Island/26th bus stops will be restored:
 

  • buses will resume serving the northbound bus stops located on the northeast corners at Canal/Harrison and Canal/Van Buren.
  • buses will resume serving the eastbound bus stop located on the southeast corner at Harrison/Jefferson.
  • eastbound bus stops will be restored at the staggered intersections at Harrison/Morgan and at 900 W. Harrison.
  • The eastbound bus stop will be restored on the southwest corner at Harrison/Halsted


Why is service being changed?

How does this affect my trip?
Eastbound #7 Harrison
and #126 Jackson, and southbound #132 Goose Island Express, #143 Stockton/Michigan Express, and #147 Outer Drive Express buses will end their trips at Michigan/Harrison.

Westbound #7 and #126, and northbound # 132 and #143 buses will begin their trips at Harrison/Michigan, operate via Harrison, Wabash, Balbo, and Michigan to Congress, then continue their normal route on Michigan.
 
Northbound #147 buses will begin their trips at Harrison/Michigan, operate via Harrison and State to Congress, then continue their normal route on State.

Buses will not serve the stop at Congress Plaza between Michigan and Congress or the stop on the northeast corner at Michigan/Congress.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to the National Football League Draft.

Westbound
buses will operate via 47th, Ashland, 51st, and Damen, then resume their normal route on 47th.

Eastbound buses are not affected.

Why is service being changed?

How does this affect my trip?
The northbound #82 Kimball/Homan bus stop on the southeast corner of Homan/Chicago will be relocated to the northeast corner of Homan/Chicago.

The southbound #82 Kimball/Homan bus stop on the northwest corner of Homan/Chicago will be relocated to the southwest corner of Homan/Chicago.

Buses will operate in both directions via California, 26th, Kedzie, Ogden, and California.

How does this affect my trip?
Buses will operate in both directions via McFetridge Drive and the Field Museum (east service drive).

Buses will not operate east of the Field Museum service drive, and will not directly serve the Shedd Aquarium or Adler Planetarium.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to the Run to Remember on Saturday and the St. Jude Police Memorial March on Sunday.
