Upcoming Red Line Subway Service Reroutes through June 18

Due to planned construction work to connect the Red and Blue Line tunnels for the new transit station at Block 37, Southbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway will reroute to the elevated tracks on the following times and dates:

9 p.m. Thursday, June 7 until 5 a.m. Friday June 8

9 p.m. Thursday, June 14 until 5 a.m., Friday, June 15

11 p.m. Friday, June 15 until 1 a.m. Monday June 18

Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th Street and Cermak/Chinatown stations. Northbound Red Line service is not affected.

Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.

Rerouted southbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash. Please note, the Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. Customers who wish to travel southbound from the Grand, Chicago, Clark/Division or North/Clybourn Red Line stations can board a northbound train and exit at Fullerton to board southbound Red Line trains on the southbound platform.

Customers traveling southbound to Downtown should exit Red Line trains at any elevated station along Lake or Wabash.

Southbound customers who wish to exit at the Grand, Chicago, Clark/Division or North/Clybourn stations should travel to the Roosevelt station and board a northbound Red Line train.
