Three-Track Operation Commute Summary for Tuesday, April 10

April 10, 2007
4/10/07

Tuesday morning's commute from the North Side on CTA's rail and bus system operated within scheduled service intervals with the exception of one northbound Purple Line train that experienced equipment problems at Howard station. A problem with the doors resulted in a 14 minute delay for Purple Line customers at Howard headed northbound, the off-peak direction during the morning commute.

In addition, two Blue Line trains experienced equipment problems that led to delays. Some North Side customers have switched to Blue Line service as an alternate to service within the Clark Junction corridor. Southbound Blue Line customers experienced a 26 minute delay at Belmont due to a problem with the doors. In the Loop, a southbound Blue Line train was delayed 18 minutes at Clark/Lake due to mechanical issues.

The evening rush hour saw no significant delays for customers heading north out of the Loop.

Customers continue to use North Side bus routes as alternates to rail service. Ridership remained strong on the #11, #22, #134, #135, #136, #143, #144, #145, #146, #147, #148, #151 and #156 routes.

The CTA's web site, transitchicago.com, and the ctabrownline.com site have information pertaining to the three-track project.
