95th Street Terminal Improvement Project

The Project
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is proposing to make transportation improvements by expanding and refurbishing the 95th/Dan Ryan Terminal, the southern terminus of the Dan Ryan Branch of CTA’s Red Line. The purpose of the project is to expand and significantly improve the 95th/Dan Ryan Terminal which serves thousands of customers each day and is a vital part of Chicago’s South Side.

The proposed work includes two new station houses fronting along 95th Street; a new Terminal south of 95th Street; renovations/expansion of the existing Terminal north of 95th Street; a pedestrian bridge spanning across 95th Street to connect the north and south Terminals; an expanded platform to provide more room and easier passenger flow; wider bus lanes and increased spacing between bus bays to reduce congestion; wider sidewalks and waiting areas in the bus Terminal for increased passenger comfort and safety; new bus canopies to provide shelter for boarding and alighting customers; additional escalators and elevators to increase vertical circulation; bright, airy spaces with clear sightlines; additional areas for retail amenities; and additional space surrounding ticket vending machines and fare gates. The project also includes acquisition of adjacent land, as required for construction staging. This location is served by the CTA Red Line (95th/Dan Ryan Terminal), CTA bus routes, and Pace bus routes.
