The CTA is now seeking applicants for Bus Operator and Bus Mechanic positions, which offer competitive pay – starting hourly wages for Bus Operators is $24.63 and Bus Mechanic is $31.35 – as well as excellent health benefits, pension, and opportunities for advancement.

For applicants who already hold a Commercial Driver’s License or a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CDL/CLP), at this event the CTA is offering on-site testing and application workshops.
CTA has expanded recruitment and hiring efforts as part of the “Meeting the Moment” Action Plan, a multi-tiered effort to provide more reliable service and improve the customer experience. So far this year, the CTA has hosted more than a dozen job fairs – both virtual and in-person –with more planned through the end of year and into next year. New operators and mechanics will help the agency address an industry-wide worker shortage, the main contributing factor to CTA’s current service challenges.
