November 9, 2022

Commercial Driver’s License not required to apply. Employees receive paid training, generous starting salary and benefits that include family medical and prescription plans.

Take the first step towards establishing a career in transportation by attending the Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) Career Fair next Friday at Olive Harvey College. The CTA is now seeking applicants for Bus Operator and Bus Mechanic positions, which offer competitive pay – starting hourly wages for Bus Operators is $24.63 and Bus Mechanic is $31.35 – as well as excellent health benefits, pension, and opportunities for advancement.

“CTA offers a unique opportunity to join a diverse transportation organization that will always be the key in moving the City of Chicago,” said CTA President Dorval R. Carter, Jr. “CTA offers great benefits and career growth opportunities and interested candidates do not need a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to apply.”

Applicants who possess excellent customer service skills and are interested in seeking employment with options for developing a rewarding career path in the transportation industry are strongly encouraged to attend:

    Registration Required: https://CTAJOBFAIR2022-2.eventbrite.com

For applicants who already hold a Commercial Driver’s License or a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CDL/CLP), at this event the CTA is offering on-site testing and application workshops.

CTA has expanded recruitment and hiring efforts as part of the “Meeting the Moment” Action Plan, a multi-tiered effort to provide more reliable service and improve the customer experience. So far this year, the CTA has hosted more than a dozen job fairs – both virtual and in-person –with more planned through the end of year and into next year.  New operators and mechanics will help the agency address an industry-wide worker shortage, the main contributing factor to CTA’s current service challenges.
