October 24, 2005
10/24/05

The City of Chicago is conducting a simulation for traffic lane changes in anticipation of the upcoming Block 37 construction. The test will take place Tuesday, October 25 from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. As a result of the testing, during these hours, two Chicago Transit Authority bus stops will be affected downtown, in addition to one of the entrances to the Washington station on the Blue Line.

Customers may enter the Blue Line's Washington station from the west side of Dearborn only. Customers may use the entrances located in Daley Plaza or those just south of Washington while the stairway on the east side of Dearborn between Washington and Randolph is temporarily closed.

The northbound bus stop at Dearborn/Washington will be temporarily eliminated for the duration of Tuesday's test. This will affect northbound buses on the #22 Clark, #24 Wentworth, #36 Broadway, #62 Archer and #129 West Loop/South Loop routes. Customers may board northbound buses one block north at Dearborn/Randolph or one block south at Dearborn/Madison.

Additionally, the southbound bus stop at State/Washington will be temporarily relocated from the north side of the intersection to the south side of the intersection. This will affect southbound buses on the #2 Hyde Park Express,#6 Jackson Park Express, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #62 Archer, #144 Marine/Michigan Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express routes.

CTA personnel will be at affected locations Tuesday to assist and redirect customers.
