Well-known Chicago Restaurateur Chooses Armitage Stop for First City Location
Chicago Transit Authority customers and other Chicagoans will soon be able to enjoy the latest food trend -- gourmet doughnuts -- thanks to a new business venture that makes the CTA Armitage Brown Line station the first of three locations for this tasty treat.
Glazed and Infused, LLC is a gourmet doughnut shop owned by Chicago based Francesca’s Restaurants, which has operated eateries in and around Chicago for nearly 20 years. The new store will become the CTA’s only artisanal food vendor.
“We are proud to announce CTA will be home to the latest venture of Francesca’s Restaurants,” said CTA President Forrest Claypool. “Glazed and Infused is the latest locally owned business to offer specialty concessions to our customers.”
The Chicago Transit Board today approved a lease to Glazed and Infused, LLC for space on the ground floor at 939 W. Armitage, adjacent to the Armitage station on the Brown Line. This additional lease brings the total number of leased spaces across the transit system to 88.
This lease agreement will generate additional, non-farebox revenue for the CTA for five, years, which is the length of the contract. Annual rent for the full five year term is projected at $427,546,000. Glazed and Infused is expected to open this Spring.
Concession spaces are advertised with Jones Lang LaSalle and reflect market value for similar properties in each respective area. CTA amended its purchase and sales regulations in March 2011, in order to allow Jones Lang LaSalle to broker leases of available retail concession properties on the open market.
