Slow Zone Work
Red Line Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks
Service on the Red Line between Fullerton station and Cermak/Chinatown will be temporarily suspended in both directions from 11 p.m. Friday, November 9 until 1 a.m. Monday, November 12. North and southbound Red Line trains will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks throughout the weekend. Elevated stations are located within a block of Red Line subway stations in the Loop. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the 95th Street and Cermak/Chinatown stations. Rerouted Red Line trains will stop at the following elevated stations: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Saturday morning from 12:50 a.m. to 5:10 a.m. and on Sunday morning from 12:50 a.m. to 7:10 a.m.
Red Line trains will resume normal service through the subway at 1 a.m. Monday. In addition to running Red Line trains on the elevated tracks, CTA will operate three bus shuttles to help customers make their normal connections.
Bus shuttle service will operate between the Clark/Division station and North/Clybourn station, stopping at the Sedgwick Brown Line station where customers may board Red Line trains.
Bus shuttle service also will operate from the Grand/State and Chicago/State stations to the Chicago/Franklin Brown Line station where customers may board Red Line trains.
Additional bus shuttle service will operate between Jackson/State, Harrison/State, Jackson/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash where customers may board Red Line trains.
Temporarily suspending Red Line service from Fullerton to Cermak/Chinatown will allow construction and maintenance crews to work without train traffic or live rail.
Next Week
Northbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak/Chinatown station and the Fullerton station will reroute to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. four nights next week from Monday, November 12 through Thursday, November 15.
Rerouted northbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, MerchandiseMart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Blue Line Service from Jefferson Park to Harlem Temporarily Suspended this Weekend for Slow Zone Work
Rail service between the Jefferson Park and Harlem O'Hare branch Blue Line stations will be temporarily suspended from 9 p.m. Friday, November 9 to 1 a.m. Monday, November 12 in order to replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes. Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service between the two stations. Extra travel time is advisable.

Southbound Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute During Daytime at Sheridan
Weekend
Southbound Red Line trains will operate on the southbound Purple Express tracks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, November 9 and again from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11.
During these times southbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform.
CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time. Northbound service is not affected.
Next Week
Southbound Red Line trains will operate on the southbound Purple Express tracks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day from Tuesday, November 13 through Friday, November 16 and again on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18 from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
During these times southbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform.
CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
Northbound Red Line service is not affected.
Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Dan Ryan Branch of Red Line
A single track will be in effect between 47th Street and Garfield stations on the Dan Ryan Branch of the Red Line from 11 p.m. each night until 4:30 a.m. each following morning beginning Monday, November 12 through Friday morning, November 16.
Southbound Red Line customers boarding at 47th Street must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.
Howard Station Construction
Northbound Platform Out of Service at Red Line Howard Station This Weekend
The northbound platform at the Howard Red Line station will be temporarily out of service for construction work from 8 p.m. Friday, November 9 until 2 a.m. Monday, November 12. Customers must board trains on the southbound platform.
Reroute of #201 Central Ridge This Weekend and All Next Week
#201 buses will be rerouted due to the closure of Howard Street at the Red Line station all weekend from 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 9 until approximately 5 a.m. Monday, November 12. Then again weeknights next week from 7:30 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning, beginning Monday, November 12 through Friday morning, November 16.
Buses will operate via Ashland, Howard, Rogers, Sheridan, Howard, Rogers, Howard terminal then resume the regular route.
Daytime Reroute at Belmont Next Week
Southbound Red Line trains will temporarily reroute to the Brown Line tracks at Belmont from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, November 9. Southbound Red Line customers must board on the Brown Line side of the platform.
Buses Reroute for Block 37 Construction
State Street will be closed between Madison and Randolph for construction work from 9 p.m. on Friday, November 9 until 6 a.m. Monday, November 12.
Fifteen CTA bus routes will be rerouted to adjacent streets. Rerouting these bus routes away from construction activity will improve the reliability of CTA bus service in the area and create a more predictable flow of traffic for the duration of this phase of the project. The routes subject to temporary reroutes are:

#19 United Center Express Serves Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks Games
CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses for the following games at the United Center:
- Thursday, November 8 at 7 p.m. " Bulls versus Detroit Pistons
- Friday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. " Blackhawks versus St. Louis Blues
- Saturday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. " Bulls versus Toronto Raptors
- Sunday, November 11 at 6 p.m. " Blackhawks versus Detroit Red Wings
Buses will leave every 12 minutes from Michigan and Superior starting two hours before game time until 30 minutes before the game begins. When the game ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
#19 buses will make all stops on Michigan from Superior to Washington, and on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.
After the game, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses operate through downtown east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making all stops from Randolph to Chicago.
CTA Provides Convenient Service for College Football Game
From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, November 10 CTA will operate longer trains on the Purple Line for the Northwestern University versus the Indiana Hoosiers at Ryan Field. Game time is 11 a.m. The stadium is located approximately three blocks from the Central station.
Extended Hours on #10 Museum of Science & Industry Bus Route
Hours of operation on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry route will be extended on the following weekends to accommodate later hours at the museum:
- Saturday, November 10
- Sunday, November 11
On those dates, the Museum of Science & Industry will open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m. Service on the #10 will begin operating at 8:55 a.m. from Chestnut/Lake Shore Drive each morning and the last bus will depart from the Museum of Science & Industry at 6:10 p.m. each evening.
Buses Reroute for Construction Projects
#8 Halsted
Due to water main replacement, Halsted will be closed from Addison to Waveland from 11 p.m. Thursday, November 8 until approximately 6 a.m. Friday, November 9. Northbound #8 buses will operate via Halsted, Addison, Broadway, Waveland, Halsted and resume regular route. Reverse for southbound buses.
#47 47th Street
47th Street at Ashland will be closed from 7 a.m. each day until 3 p.m. each afternoon through Thursday, November 15. Westbound #47 47th Street buses will travel over the regular route to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 51st, Damen then return to 47th and resume the regular route. Eastbound buses are not affected.
Removal of Fairbanks Pedestrian Bridge
From 7 p.m. Friday, November 9 until 6 a.m. Monday, November 12, the #3 King Drive, #66 Chicago and #157 Streeterville buses will be rerouted due to the removal of the overhead pedestrian bridge near the 600 block of N. Fairbanks.
Northbound #3 buses will travel over the regular route to Fairbanks then will operate via Chicago, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Ontario, Fairbanks, Erie and resume the regular route. Southbound buses via Fairbanks, Erie, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Chicago then over the regular route.
Eastbound #66 buses will travel via Chicago, Inner Lakeshore Drive, Ontario, Fairbanks and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Fairbanks, Erie, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Chicago and resume the regular route.
Northbound #157 buses will travel over the regular route to Fairbanks then will operate via Erie, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Chicago over the regular route. Southbound buses will travel the regular route to Chicago then operate via Inner Lake Shore Drive, Ontario, Fairbanks and then resume the regular route.
Canal Bridge Closed for Repairs
The Canal Street Bridge over the south branch of the Chicago River is closed due to bridge work from 7 p.m. on Friday, November 9 until 6 a.m. on Monday, November 12.
#18 16th/18th buses will operate in both directions via 18th, Canal, Clark, Cermak to the Red Line terminal then resume the regular route.
Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
The northbound near side bus stop on Pulaski at 63rd that is served by the #53A South Pulaski and the #53A South Pulaski Limited routes has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop until Monday, November 19.
Bus Stop Permanently Relocated
The bus stop located at the Halsted/Archer Orange Line station served by the southwest bound #62 Archer and #62N Archer routes will be permanently relocated inside the terminal at the far west end.
