Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of June 29- July 1

Note: All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule Wednesday, July 4 in commemoration of Independence Day.

Single Track in Effect on Blue Line This Week
A single track will be in effect on the Blue Line between Grand and Damen beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday, June 28 until 5 a.m. Friday, June 29. Southbound customers boarding at Grand, Chicago and Division should board on the northbound side of the platform.

CTA is working to replace wooden rail ties with concrete rail ties along this section of track. When completed this maintenance work will allow trains to increase their speed along this section of track and improve travel times for customers.

Additional Service Provided for Taste of Chicago
CTA provides a convenient travel option to the Taste of Chicago in Grant Park which begins Friday, June 29 and runs until Sunday, July 8. Additional CTA service will be available to provide transportation to the crowds expected to attend the annual event.

The Taste of Chicago street closures are Columbus between Monroe and Balbo, Congress between Michigan and Columbus, and Jackson between Lake Shore Drive and Michigan. Southbound #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #26 South Shore Express, #X28 Stony Island Express, #130 Grant Park Treasures, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will reroute to adjacent streets. Northbound service is not affected.

Eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted in both directions around the street closures to adjacent streets.

#132 Goose Island Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #192 University of Chicago Express buses will reroute in both directions around the street closures to adjacent streets.

Reroutes are scheduled to end at 3 p.m. Monday, July 9. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Michigan and Roosevelt Avenues Closed for Bally Total Fitness 5K Run
On Sunday, July 1 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Michigan Avenue will be closed between Balbo and Roosevelt, and some lanes of Roosevelt will be closed between Columbus and Michigan for the Bally Total Fitness Race to the Taste.

Northbound #6 Jackson Park, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #130 Grant Park Treasures and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will travel along their regular route to Columbus then will operate via Roosevelt, State, Harrison to Michigan Avenue, then resume the regular route.

Hong Kong Parade on Sunday
Buses operating eastbound along the #18 16th/18th and the #21 Cermak routes will be rerouted from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. due to street closures for the 10th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Parade.

Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will travel along the regular route to Archer then will operate via Archer to Clark to the Red Line terminal then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Eastbound #21 Cermak buses will travel over the regular route to Archer then will operate via Clark to Cermak, then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

CTA Buses Reroute for July 3 Fireworks
Buses along 30 CTA routes that operate downtown will be rerouted from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 due to street closures along State Street and Michigan Avenue for the July 3 fireworks display.

Additional Service Provided for Lakefront Pavilion Concerts This Weekend
The #130 Grant Park Treasures is a convenient way for customers to travel to concerts at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island this summer. CTA will run service after concerts on weekdays and provide additional service on weekends. The #130 operates in both directions between the Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station to the Museum Campus on weekends and holidays through Labor Day.

On weekends, additional service will operate from Metra's LaSalle Street station, and Ogilvie and Union stations 30 minutes before the concert and will depart Northerly Island until 30 minutes after the concert.

On weekdays, the #130 will provide service from Northerly Island following the concert for 30 minutes. There will be no service on the #130 route prior to weekday concerts.
