Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of July 20 - July 22

Temporary Blue Line Subway Closure This Weekend
This weekend CTA will temporarily suspend service on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line between Western/Milwaukee and Clark/Lake beginning on Friday, July 20 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday, July 23. Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops at Western, Damen, Division, Chicago, Grand, Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe and Jackson. CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

The work is part of an aggressive new plan to eliminate slow zones. CTA is replacing deteriorated wooden rail ties with concrete rail ties which will eliminate slow zones along the tracks between Grand and Division and restore normal train speed to 55 mph.

Weeknights through August 31, single tracks will typically be in effect from Grand to Division from 9 p.m. each night until
5 a.m. the following morning, Monday night through Friday morning.

Northbound and southbound customers boarding at Grand, Chicago and Division will board trains on the same side of the platform during late night single track work. CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

The WORK SCHEDULED at ARGYLE and LAWRENCE HAS BEEN POSTPONED
Southbound Red Line Service Temporarily Suspended at Argyle and Lawrence Late Friday Night through Early Sunday Morning
Southbound Red Line trains will temporarily operate on southbound Purple Line tracks at Argyle and Lawrence stations from 10 p.m. Friday, July 20 to 6 a.m. Sunday,July 22. Southbound Red Line trains will be unable to stop at the Lawrence and Argyle stations due to track maintenance work to eliminate slow zones.

Southbound customers who want to exit at Lawrence or Argyle should board a northbound train at Wilson and ride back to these stations. Southbound customers who want to board at these stations should board a northbound train, exit at Berwyn and board a southbound train.

CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Northbound Red Line service is not affected. Normal southbound service will resume at Argyle and Lawrence at
6 a.m. Sunday morning.

Southbound Red Line Service Temporarily Suspended at Jarvis, Morse and Loyola Stations Late Weeknights
Southbound Red Line trains will temporarily operate on southbound Purple Line tracks at the Jarvis, Morse and Loyola stations from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday July 23 ? August 2. Southbound Red Line trains will be unable to stop at the Jarvis, Morse and Loyola stations due to track maintenance work to eliminate slow zones.

Southbound customers who want to exit at Jarvis, Morse or Loyola should board a northbound train at Granville and ride back to these stations. Southbound customers who want to board at these stations should board a northbound train, exit at Howard and board a southbound train.

CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Northbound Red Line service is not affected. Normal southbound service will resume at Jarvis, Morse and Loyola at 4:30 a.m. the following morning.

#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick Buses to Temporarily Reroute
Buses along the #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick route will undergo a temporary reroute beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 until 6 a.m. Friday, July 20 due to street closures at Chestnut and Orleans for movie filming. Buses will operate in both directions via Orleans, Locust, Franklin, Chicago, Orleans then resume the regular route.

Three Bus Stops Relocated
The northbound CTA bus stop on Kedzie at 25th Street that is served by the #52 Kedzie/California route is relocating to the far side beginning Thursday, July 26.

The eastbound bus stop on Cermak at Clark Street that is served by the #18 16th/18th and #21 Cermak bus routes has been relocated to the far side.

The far side southbound bus stop along Halsted at Monroe that is served by #8 Halsted buses has been temporarily relocated to the near side due to a development project.

#3 King Drive and #12 Roosevelt Buses to Temporarily RerouteRoosevelt Road will be closed at Indiana Avenue for sewer repairs beginning at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 until approximately 3 p.m. on Friday, July 20.

Southbound #3 King Drive buses will travel over the regular route to Roosevelt then will operate via 14th, Indiana, 16th then return to Indiana to resume the regular route.

Eastbound #12 Roosevelt buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan then will operate via Balbo, Columbus then return to Roosevelt to resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute for Near North Farmers Market
#36 Broadway and # 70 Division buses will undergo reroutes beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 21 until late evening due to the Near North Farmers Market along Division.

Southbound #36 buses will travel along the regular route to Clark and Division and then will operate via Maple to State then resume the regular route. Northbound buses will travel along the regular route to Elm, Clark, Division then return to Clark and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will operate over the regular route to Clark and Division then will operate via Maple, Dearborn then resume the regular route.

Brown Line Single Track in Effect This Weekend
A single track will be in effect between the Sedgwick and Merchandise Mart stations on the Brown Line beginning at
1 a.m. on Saturday, July 21 until 4:30 a.m. Monday, July 23. Customers at the Sedgwick and Chicago stations must board on the northbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Purple Line this Week
A single track will be effect between the Central and Davis stations this week due to track maintenance from 10 p.m. each night until 4:30 a.m. each morning from Sunday, July 22 through Thursday, July 26.

Customers boarding at the Noyes and Foster stations must board on the northbound side of the platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Brown Line Track Work to Reroute Buses
Route #78 Montrose buses will undergo reroutes beginning at
9 p.m. Saturday, July 21 until 4:30 a.m. Monday, July 23 during construction work on the Brown Line elevated tracks at the Montrose station.

Buses will operate in both directions via Damen, Wilson, Ashland then return to Montrose and resume the regular route.

Armitage Station Entrance Temporarily Relocated
The entrance to the Amitage station will be temporarily relocated across the street from the existing entrance at 5 a.m. Monday, July 23 as CTA continues work to rebuild the Armitage station and extend platforms as part of the Brown Line capacity expansion project.

Customers will continue to use the south stairway to the elevated platforms to access Purple Line Express and Brown Line trains. The temporary entrance is expected to be in place through early 2008.

Buses Rerouted Due to Construction
Randolph Street from Michigan Avenue to Stetson will be closed due to construction from 9 a.m. Monday, July 23 through 3 p.m. Monday, July 30.

Northbound #4 Cottage Grove buses will operate via Wacker, Columbus, Randolph then return to Columbus. Southbound buses are not affected.

Westbound #20 Madison buses will operate eastbound via Wacker and Columbus. Eastbound buses will operate via South Water, Michigan, Randolph then return to Michigan and resume the regular route.

Northbound #60 Blue Island buses will operate via Michigan, Wacker, Columbus, Randolph then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will operate via Columbus, South Water, Michigan then return to Randolph and resume the regular route.

Roosevelt Closed for Sewer Repair
#12 Roosevelt and #129 West/Loop South Loop buses will reroute beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, July 23 until 3 p.m. Monday, August 6 due to street closures at Indiana and Roosevelt for sewer repairs.

Eastbound #12 Roosevelt buses will operate via Michigan, Balbo, Columbus, then return to Roosevelt and resume the regular route.

Northbound #129 West Loop/South Loop buses will reroute in the morning only and will operate via Michigan, 14th Street, Indiana, 18th Street, State then resume the regular route.

Southbound #129 West Loop/South Loop buses will reroute in the evening only and will operate via 14th Street, Michigan then resume the regular route.

New Bus Stop at 94th and Cottage Grove
A new northbound bus stop at 94th at Cottage Grove has been posted for the #4 Cottage Grove and #X4 Cottage Grove Express.

Temporary Bus Stop Relocation
The southbound near side bus stop on Halsted at 32nd Street that is served by #8 Halsted buses has been temporarily relocated to the far side of Halsted due to construction.

Bus Stop EliminatedThe eastbound bus stop located along Cermak at Federal has been eliminated. Customers can board #18 16th/18th and #21 Cermak buses at State Street.

#3 King Drive Buses Temporarily Reroute This Weekend
King Drive at 25th Street temporarily will be closed beginning at 9 p.m., Saturday, July 21 until 9 a.m. Sunday, July 22. #3 King Drive buses will operate in both directions via 26th, Michigan, Cermak then return to Michigan and resume the regular route.

Halsted Closes for Southside Arts and Music Festival
Halsted will be closed from 3200 South to 3500 South for the Southside Arts and Music Festival from 5 a.m. Saturday,
July 21 until 3 a.m. Monday, July 23.

#8 Halsted buses will reroute in both directions via 35th Street, Wallace, 31st then return to Halsted and resume the regular route.
