December 4, 2015

Green/Pink Line service will be temporarily suspended on Sunday between the Clinton and Clark/Lake stations; 63rd Red Line station closed overnight Saturday

The CTA is notifying customers of separate weekend maintenance and construction projects that will temporarily impact Green and Pink line service on Sunday, as well as require the temporary overnight closure of the 63rd Red Line station overnight Saturday. Free shuttle buses will provide service to affected stations.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

For customers headed to the Bears game at Soldier Field and upcoming events at the United Center, the CTA is a convenient and affordable transit option with extra service being provided for each event. Additional details below.

The 63rd Red Line station will be temporarily closed beginning 10 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday due to construction on the 63rd Street Bridge by the Illinois Department of Transportation. During this time, Red Line trains will bypass the station in both directions. Free shuttle buses will operate between the Garfield and 69th Street Red Line stations during the temporarily closure to serve affected customers.

Temporary Suspension of Green/Pink Line Service on Lake Street Bridge

On Sunday only, beginning with the start of service (approx. 5 a.m.), Green and Pink Line service between the Clinton and Clark/Lake stations will be temporarily suspended due to maintenance work to be performed by the Chicago Department of Transportation.

During this time, CTA will provide a free bus shuttle service that will supplement Green and Pink line service between the Clinton and Clark/Lake stations. Harlem/Lake-bound customers at Clark/Lake can board the free bus shuttle from the southeast corner of LaSalle/Lake. Loop-bound customers at Clinton can board the free bus shuttle on the west side of Clinton Street south of Lake Street.

Green Line Service:  Green Line trains will continue to operate in both directions, but in two sections: between Harlem/Lake and Clinton, and also between Ashland/63rd-Cottage Grove and the Loop. In the Loop, Green Line trains will follow Orange Line trains clockwise, first stopping at Harold Washington Library before continuing on to Ashland/63rd and Cottage Grove.

Pink Line Service: Pink Line trains will also continue to operate in both directions between 54th/Cermak and Clinton; however, there will be no Pink Line service in the Loop during the temporary track closure.

Service in the Loop: a shuttle train will operate counterclockwise around the Loop, making all stops.

Regular Green and Pink line service will resume at approximately 4 a.m. Monday morning. For more information visit transitchicago.com/alerts.
