Planned Track Work to Temporarily Affect Green Line Service

The Chicago Transit Authority is a convenient and affordable transit option for traveling to events around Chicago this weekend, including the 2016 Chicago Football Classic at Soldier Field and the Northwestern Football game at Ryan Field.

The CTA is also notifying customers that track maintenance work planned for the Green Line this weekend will temporarily affect travel between Ashland/63rd and Halsted stations. CTA will provide free shuttle bus service between the affected stations.

2016 Chicago Football Classic

To accommodate fans heading to Soldier Field for the 2016 Chicago Football Classic at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, CTA will provide additional service on the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express beginning approximately two hours before the game until about one hour after the game ends.

Northwestern Football Games

The CTA will provide extra rail service for the upcoming Northwestern Football game at Ryan Field on Saturday, September 10 at 2:30 p.m.

For each game, CTA will provide longer trains on the Purple Line beginning approximately two hours before the game. Ryan Field is located a few blocks west of the Purple Line’s Central station in Evanston.

Bus Substitution between Halsted and Ashland/63rd Green Line stations

There will be no service on the Green Line between the Halsted and Ashland/63rd Green Line stations beginning at approximately 8 p.m. Friday, September 9 until approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday, September 12. During that period, CTA will operate free bus shuttles at both the Halsted and Ashland/63rd Green Line stations to provide customers with alternative service between the two stations.

Green Line trains will operate normally as far as Halsted/63rd throughout the weekend.
