Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of October 7 - 9

Wells Closes for Honorary Street Naming Ceremony FridayWells will be closed between Ohio and Grand from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, October 7. After 9 a.m., southbound trips on the #37 Sedgwick/Ogden route will operate via Wells, Ohio, LaSalle, Grand, back to Wells, then resume the regular route. Northbound service will not be affected.

LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon Street Closures Begin FridayColumbus will be closed from Balbo to Roosevelt; and Balbo will be closed from Michigan to Columbus from 10 a.m. Friday, October 7 until 6 a.m. Monday, October 10. Additionally, Columbus will be closed from Balbo to Congress from 10 a.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Sunday. Congress will be closed between Michigan and Columbus from 4 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday. Extra service will operate on six CTA rail lines during the race and additional service will be provided on the #3 King Drive and #126 Jackson bus routes. During the race, several bus routes may experience intermittent service delays or temporary reroutes.

Maintenance Work Temporarily Closes Two Southbound Brown Line Platforms SaturdayMaintenance work will temporarily close the southbound platforms at Wellington and Diversey from 5:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, October 8. As a result, southbound Brown Line trains will not stop at the Wellington or Diversey stations. Southbound customers who wish to exit at Wellington or Diversey will need to travel to the Fullerton station and transfer to northbound trains back to those stations.

Longer Purple Line Trains Provided for Northwestern Wildcats Football SaturdayThe Northwestern Wildcats host Wisconsin at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8. Longer Purple Line trains will begin operating at 9 a.m. and continue after the game as crowds warrant. Ryan Field is just west of the Purple Line's Central station in Evanston.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Beginning SundayDue to track maintenance, single track service will be in effect northbound between Montrose and Jefferson Park from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. each night from Sunday, October 9 through Tuesday, October 11.

Single track service will be in effect northbound between Montrose and Foster from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. Wednesday night, October 12 and again during the same hours northbound between Jefferson Park and Foster Thursday night, October 13.

Monitor Avenue Closes for Sidewalk Repairs Beginning MondayMonitor Avenue will be closed between Roosevelt and Fillmore from 7 a.m. Monday, October 10 until 3:30 p.m. Friday, October 14. Westbound #12 Roosevelt buses will operate via Roosevelt, Austin, Fillmore, Mason to Roosevelt/Menard where eastbound trips will begin.

Red Line Work:
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line over the WeekendDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect northbound between 79th and 63rd Streets from 8 p.m. Friday, October 7 until 8 a.m. Saturday, October 8.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next WeekSingle track service will be in effect northbound between Garfield and 45th Street from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday night, October 10 and Tuesday night, October 11 and southbound in the same location during the same hours Wednesday night, October 12 and Thursday night, October 13. When completed, customers will experience more reliable service and improved stations.

Maintenance Temporarily Closes Red Line Platform over the WeekendPlatform rehabilitation will temporarily close the northbound platform at the 69th station on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, October 8. As a result, northbound customers who wish to exit at 69th will need to travel to 63rd and transfer to southbound trains back to 69th.

Overnight Track Maintenance Temporarily Closes Three Southbound Red Line Platforms Beginning SundayTrack maintenance on the north end of the Red Line will take place from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. each night from Sunday, October 9 through Thursday, October 13. As a result, southbound trains will not stop at the Jarvis, Morse and Loyola stations. During these hours, customers who wish to exit at those stations will need to travel to the Granville station and transfer to northbound trains back to those stations.
