Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of November 4-6

NOTE: Daylight-saving time ends on Sunday, November 6, and clocks are to be set back one hour. Customers who use unlimited ride passes are reminded that passes are active for 24-hour periods; therefore are unaffected by the time change.
 

Green Line – Events Affecting Service

Service Suspended between 35th-Bronzeville-IIT and 47th Street This Weekend

Rail service will be temporarily suspended along the South branch of the Green Line between the 35th-Bronzeville-IIT and 47th Street stations from 11 p.m. Friday, November 4 until 4 a.m. Monday, November 7, due to crews performing station renewal work at the 43rd Street station.
 
Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops at the 35th-Bronzeville-IIT, Indiana, 43rd Street and 47th Street stations. CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time. Both the 35th-Bronzeville-IIT and 47th Street stations are accessible to customers with disabilities.
 
Green Line trains will operate normally between Harlem/Lake and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT, and between the 47th Street station and the Ashland/63rd and Cottage Grove terminals.
 
Trains will resume operating normally between the 35th-Bronzeville-IIT and 47th Street stations after 4 a.m. on Monday, November 7.
 

Blue Line – Events Affecting Service

Boarding Changes at Pulaski and Cicero on the Forest Park Branch This Weekend

All late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the eastbound (to O’Hare) tracks at the Pulaski and Cicero stations from 10 p.m. Friday, November 4 until 6 a.m. the following morning and then again from 10 p.m. Saturday, November 5 until 6 a.m. the following morning, due to plumbing repair work.
 
During these times, westbound (to Forest Park) customers at the Pulaski and Cicero stations must board and exit trains from the eastbound (to O’Hare) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Trains Operating on the Same Tracks at the Montrose Station Next Week

All late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the southbound (to Forest Park) tracks at the Montrose station from 10:30 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Sunday night, November 6 through Wednesday morning, November 9, due to track maintenance work.
 
During these times, northbound (to O’Hare) customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Two-Phase Single Track Operation in Effect on O’Hare Branch Wednesday Night

A two-phase single track operation will be in effect for all late night Blue Line trains serving the Montrose and Jefferson Park stations beginning Wednesday night, November 9, due to track maintenance work.
 
Phase I – at Jefferson Park
From 11 p.m. Wednesday, November 9 until 1 a.m. the following morning, Blue Line customers at the Jefferson Park station traveling northbound (to O’Hare) must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Phase II – at Montrose and Jefferson Park
From 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. Thursday, November 10, Blue Line customers at the Montrose and Jefferson Park stations traveling northbound (to O’Hare) must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Single Track Operation in Effect at Jefferson Park Thursday Night

All late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the southbound (to Forest Park) tracks at the Jefferson Park station from 10:30 p.m. Thursday, November 10 until 4 a.m. the following morning, as track maintenance continues along the O’Hare branch.
 
Northbound (to O’Hare) customers at the Jefferson Park station must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Service for Upcoming Events

#19 United Center Express Serves Upcoming Events at the United Center

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express for those attending the following events at the United Center this weekend and next week:
 
  • Saturday, November 6 at 6 p.m. – Vancouver Canucks versus Blackhawks
  • Friday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m. – Calgary Flames versus Blackhawks
 
Buses will leave every 12-15 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of each event. After each event, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3 and will depart approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
 
Temporary Changes in Service for #19 Buses
Due to the closure of some downtown streets for Stage II of the Wacker Drive construction project, the following service changes are in effect along the #19 route:
 
Eastbound #19 buses are no longer being rerouted and have resumed traveling east on Washington over the regular route. The following changes have been made to bus stops served by eastbound buses:
 
  • Monroe/Canal: the temporary eastbound far side stop has been removed from service.
  • Washington/Canal: buses have resumed serving the eastbound near side stop.
  • Washington/Franklin: the eastbound near side stop has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop.
  • Washington/State: buses have resumed serving the eastbound far side stop.
 
Westbound #19 buses are being detoured and are traveling over the regular route along Madison to Franklin then operating via Franklin to Randolph and resuming the regular route. The following changes have been made to stops served by westbound buses:
 
  • Madison/Wacker: the westbound far side stop has been temporarily removed from service.
  • Madison/Clinton: the westbound near side stop has been temporarily removed from service.
  • Randolph/Wacker: buses are serving the westbound near side stop.
  • Randolph/Canal: buses are serving the westbound near side stop.
  • Randolph/Jefferson: buses are serving the new westbound near side stop.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at S. Hyde Park/53rd Street

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2, the southbound near side stop at S. Hyde Park/53rd Street has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction work. This stop is served by #6 Jackson Park Express, #X28 Stony Island Express and #171 U of C/Hyde Park buses.
 

Street Construction Project at Clark/Division Affecting Three Routes

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Friday, November 11, southbound #36 Broadway and westbound #70 Division buses are currently being rerouted and a bus stop served by southbound #22 Clark buses has been temporarily eliminated due to a street construction project at Clark/Division.
 
The southbound near side stop at Clark/Division served by #22 buses has been temporarily removed from service. During this time, customers can board southbound #22 buses either one block north at Clark/Goethe or two blocks south at Clark/Maple.
 
Southbound #36 buses are traveling over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then are operating via Maple to State and then resuming the regular route south on State. Northbound #36 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
Westbound #70 buses are operating over the regular route along Clark to Maple then are traveling via Maple, Dearborn to Division and then resuming the regular route west of Clark. Eastbound #70 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

25 Bus Routes Detoured Saturday Morning for the Hot Chocolate 15K/5K Marathon

From 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, November 5, the following 25 CTA bus routes will be detoured to adjacent streets due to street closures for the annual Hot Chocolate 15K/5K marathon.
 
During this time, Columbus Drive between Congress and Roosevelt, Balbo Drive between Michigan and Columbus, and Congress Parkway between Michigan and Columbus will be closed to all traffic.

Ongoing Bus Service Changes

Water Main Repair Work Detours Southbound #94 South California Buses

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Saturday, November 12, southbound #94 South California buses are being detoured to the adjacent California Boulevard due to the closure of southbound California Avenue between 24th and 30th streets for a water main repair project.
 
Southbound #94 buses are traveling over the regular route along California Avenue to 24th Street then are operating via 24th Street, California Boulevard, 30th Street to California Avenue and then resuming the regular route. Northbound #94 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

Temporary Changes to #60 Blue Island/26th and #94 South California Bus Stops

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Saturday, November 12, due to a water main project along California Avenue between 24th and 30th streets, the following temporary changes have been made to bus stops along the #60 Blue Island/26th and #94 South California bus routes:
 
#60 Blue Island/26th
  • 26th Street/California Avenue: the eastbound near side stop has been eliminated. The westbound far side stop has been relocated 50 feet west.
 
#94 South California
  • California Avenue/24th Street: the southbound near side stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary near side stop at California Boulevard/24th Street.
  • California Avenue/25th Street: the southbound near side stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary near side stop at California Boulevard/25th Street.
  • California Avenue/26th Street: the southbound near side stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary near side stop at California Boulevard/26th Street.
  • California Avenue at Court House Entrance: the southbound mid-block has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary mid-block stop on California Boulevard north of the crosswalk between the parking garage and court house entrance.
  • 2800 S. California Avenue: the southbound mid-block stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary mid-block stop located at 2800 S. California Boulevard.
  • 2900 S. California Avenue: the southbound mid-block stop has been eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at the new temporary mid-block stop located at 2900 S. California Boulevard.
 

#8A South Halsted Buses Detoured Due to a Viaduct Construction Project

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, #8A South Halsted buses are being detoured due to a viaduct construction project along Halsted Street between 85th and 87th streets.
 
Southbound #8A buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted to 85th Street/Summit then are operating via Summit, 87th Street to Halsted and then resuming the regular route.
 
Northbound #8A buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted to Vincennes then are operating via Vincennes, Summit to Halsted and then resuming the regular route.
 

Temporary Removal of Bus Stop at Stony Island/83rd Street

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, November 18, the northbound near side stop at Stony Island/83rd Street has been temporarily removed from service due to a water management construction project. This stop is served by #28 Stony Island and #X28 Stony Island Express buses.
 

Temporary Reroute of Northbound #147 Buses Due to Construction on Congress

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Friday, November 18, northbound #147 Outer Drive Express buses are being detoured due to lane configuration for construction on Congress near State Street. As a result of the lane configuration, northbound #147 buses traveling west on Congress are unable to make right turns onto State Street.
 
Northbound #147 buses are instead operating along Congress past State to Dearborn then are traveling via Dearborn, Jackson to State and resuming the regular route. Southbound #147 buses are unaffected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

Detour of #111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses for Bridge Repairs Extended

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are being detoured from Cottage Grove between 98th Street and 100th Place due to bridge repair work.
 
Southbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 95th Street to King Drive then operating via King Drive, 100th Street to Cottage Grove and resuming the regular route. Northbound #111 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Construction Detours #20 Madison and #90 Harlem Buses Until December

Currently in effect until Friday, December 2, eastbound #20 Madison (Owl service) buses and #90 Harlem buses are being detoured due to the closure of North Boulevard and South Boulevard between Marion and Home for a construction project.
 
Eastbound #20 (Owl service) buses are operating over the regular route along Harlem past North Boulevard to Washington then are traveling via Washington, Maple, Randolph, Harlem to Lake and resuming the regular route. Westbound #20 (Owl service) buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
Southbound #90 buses are traveling over the regular route along Harlem past North Boulevard to Washington then are operating via Washington, Maple, Randolph, Harlem to Harlem/South Boulevard before beginning northbound service. From Harlem/South Boulevard, northbound #90 buses are traveling north on Harlem over the regular route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #8 Halsted Bus Stop Due to Bridge Work

Currently in effect until Thursday, December 22, the southbound far side stop at Halsted/North Branch served by #8 Halsted buses has been relocated to a near side stop on North Branch at Halsted. The new temporary location is also served by #132 Goose Island Express buses.
 

Changes in Service along #8 Halsted Route for Bridge Reconstruction Project

Currently in effect until late-December 2011, Halsted Street between Division and the north branch of the Chicago River is closed due to a bridge reconstruction project.
 
Northbound #8 Halsted buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted past Chicago to North Branch then are operating via North Branch, Cherry, Division to Halsted and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #8 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 
Changes to Bus Stops
  • Halsted/North Branch: the northbound far side stop on Halsted has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop on North Branch at Halsted.
  • Halsted/Division: the southbound far side stop has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop.
 

Temporary Bus Stop Changes due to Madison Street Viaduct Project

Currently in effect until approximately 3 p.m. Saturday, December 31, the following bus stop changes are in effect due to the Madison Street viaduct project. These changes are affecting service along seven routes.
 
  • Canal/Madison: the northbound far side stop will be removed from service. This stop is served by #60 Blue Island/26th, #124 Navy Pier, #125 Water Tower Express, #129 West Loop/South Loop (PM service only), #130 Museum Campus, #132 Goose Island Express and #157 Streeterville/Taylor buses.
  • Canal/Washington: a temporary northbound near side stop will be added. This stop will be served by #132 buses.
 

Service Changes to 14 Downtown Bus Routes for Stage II of Wacker Drive Project

Currently in effect, changes in service have been made to 14 CTA bus routes that operate in the downtown area near Wacker Drive and Madison due to work associated with Stage II of the Wacker Drive construction project.
 
Construction on Wacker Drive will result in changes along the following routes:

#122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express

#123 Illinois Center/Union Express

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, Franklin Street between Harrison and Van Buren and Lower Wacker Drive between Randolph and Harrison are closed until May 2012. As a result of these closures and other street reconfigurations, the following changes in bus service currently are in effect:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are traveling over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then are operating via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and resuming the regular route. Southbound #11 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes also have been made to bus stops served by northbound #11 buses:
 
  • Canal/Harrison: a far side stop has been added to service.
  • Canal/Jackson: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Jackson at the Chicago River: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • 404 W. Harrison: the mid-block stop has been removed from service.
  • Franklin/Van Buren: the far side stop has been removed from service.
 
#121 Union/Wacker Express
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Southbound #121 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand to Wabash then traveling via Wabash, Wacker, Franklin to Adams and then resuming the regular route.
 
#135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express buses are traveling south on Wacker to Jackson then are traveling east on Jackson past Franklin and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #135 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express buses are operating south on Wacker to Van Buren then are traveling via Van Buren, Canal to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #136 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#156 LaSalle (PM Service Only)
During the evening rush period only, northbound #156 LaSalle buses departing from Union Station are traveling west on Van Buren to Wacker then are operating via Wacker to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary bus stop change has been made and is in effect for northbound #156 buses during the evening rush period only: 
 
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 

Relocation of #36 Broadway Bus Stop Due to Nearby Construction

Currently in effect until Friday, July 12, 2013, the southbound near side stop at Broadway/Elmdale served by #36 Broadway buses has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Removal of Bus Stop Change Affects Five Routes

Currently in effect until Thursday, August 1, 2013, the mid-block bus stop located at 5800 South on Stony Island has been temporarily removed due to construction. This stop is served by the #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island and #X28 Stony Island buses.
