EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF NOVEMBER 27 - 30

Thanksgiving Parade Reroutes CTA Buses ThursdayThe State Street Thanksgiving Parade will detour 16 CTA bus routes off State Street and adjacent downtown streets Thursday, November 27. The parade will start at 8:30 a.m. and proceed north on State from Congress to Randolph.

Preparations for the parade will close State between Washington and Randolph beginning at 12 a.m. Thursday. Staging for the parade will close State from Roosevelt to Congress from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Additionally, all east and west streets between Roosevelt and Wacker will be closed where they cross State from 8 a.m. until noon. As a result, buses operating in the area of the parade will be detoured from early morning until about 1 p.m.

The affected routes are the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #28 Stony Island Express, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer, #124 Navy Pier, #126 Jackson, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan.

Thanksgiving Races Will Cause Two Reroutes on Thursday Vertel's Turkey Trot run will take place in Lincoln Park and close Cannon between Fullerton and Lake Shore Drive from 6 a.m. until noon on Thanksgiving. For the duration of the race, southbound #77 Belmont buses will not operate to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. #77 buses will operate in both directions via Diversey, Stockton, Fullerton, Outer Lake Shore Drive, LaSalle, Stockton, to Sheridan/Diversey and resume the regular route on Sheridan.

The Edison Park Turkey Trot will take place from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. beginning at the Edison Park Field House, 6700 North Northwest Highway. #68 Northwest Highway buses will operate in both directions via Devon, Canfield, Ozark, back to Northwest Highway and resume the regular route.

Holiday Tree Lighting Closes Washington Friday AfternoonThe annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at Daley Plaza will close Washington between LaSalle and Dearborn between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Friday. Eastbound #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #124 Navy Pier, #127 Northwestern/Madison #129 West Loop/South Loop and #157 Streeterville will operate via LaSalle, Monroe, State, back to Washington then resume the regular route.

Later Bus Service on Cicero to Accommodate Expanded Hours at Ford City#54B South Cicero buses will operate until 9:05 p.m. on Sunday, November 30 and Sunday, December 7 from the Ford City Shopping Center to accommodate extended shopping hours at the mall. #54B buses also will be scheduled to operate later as the shopping season progresses and extended hours are announced.

Belmont Closes for Sewer Work Beginning TuesdayBelmont will be closed westbound only at Ridgeway for approximately two weeks beginning Tuesday, December 2 for sewer main work. Westbound #77 Belmont buses will operate via Central Park, Diversey, Pulaski back to Belmont then resume the regular route. Eastbound service will not be affected.
