Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of May 27-29

NOTE: All CTA service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30.
 

Brown Line – Events Affecting Service

Maintenance Work Results in Boarding Changes at Three Stations on Sunday

All Brown Line trains will be routed to operate on the northbound (to Kimball) tracks between the Irving Park and Belmont stations from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 29, due to structure maintenance work.
 
Southbound Brown Line customers at the Addison, Paulina and Southport stations must board and exit trains from the northbound (to Kimball) platform.
 
CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. 
 

Summer Bus Services

CTA Provides Service to Beaches All Summer Long

Beginning Saturday, May 28 through Labor Day, the CTA will provide weekend and holiday service to area beaches on the #63 63rd, #72 North and the #78 Montrose bus routes.
 
During the summer, the extended service only will be available during the hours beaches are open. Buses will travel to their regular terminals when the beaches are closed. Hours of operation for Chicago beaches vary.

Summer Bus Schedule for the Museum of Science & Industry begins Saturday

The CTA is providing additional weekend and weekday service on its #10 Museum of Science & Industry bus route to accommodate expanded museum hours, beginning Saturday, May 28 through Labor Day. During this time, the museum is open every day from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Buses will operate approximately every 20 minutes on weekdays and weekends.
 

#124 Navy Pier Bus Route Hours Extended beginning Friday

Buses traveling along the #124 Navy Pier route will operate 90 minutes longer in each direction beginning Friday, May 27 until Labor Day. Buses will operate until 11:30 p.m. from Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center, and until midnight from Navy Pier.
 

Service along the #130 Museum Campus Route Begins this Weekend

Effective Saturday, May 28, summer service begins along the #130 Museum Campus bus route. From 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., #130 buses will operate in both directions between the Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station to the Museum Campus on weekdays, weekends and holidays through Labor Day. 
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Relocation of Evening Rush Period Bus Stop Served by #206 Evanston Circulator Buses

Currently in effect, the eastbound far side stop at Dempster/Dodge – served by #206 Evanston Circulator buses during the evening rush period only – has been relocated to a near side stop at Dempster/Darrow.
 

Relocation of Bus Stop at Cottage Grove/63rd Street

Currently in effect, the northbound near side stop at Cottage Grove/63rd Street served by #4 Cottage Grove buses has been relocated to a far side stop at the bus shelter.
 

Construction on South Side Detours Three CTA Bus Routes

Currently in effect through Monday, June 6, the #2 Hyde Park Express, #59 59th/61st and #170 U of Chicago/Midway bus routes are undergoing temporary detours from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day due to the closure of 60th Street between Dorchester and Blackstone for a water pipe installation project.
 
Southbound #2 buses are traveling over the regular route to Stony Island/Midway Plaisance and then are traveling via Midway Plaisance, Dorchester to 60th Street and continuing west on 60th Street over the regular route.
 
Westbound #59 buses are beginning their trips from Midway Plaisance and then are operating via Cornell, Midway Plaisance to Dorchester and then resuming the regular route.
 
Eastbound #170 buses are traveling over the regular route to 60th/Dorchester then are operating via Dorchester, Midway Plaisance to Stony Island and then resuming the regular route.
 

Soldier Field 10 Mile Race Detours Buses Serving the Museum Campus

From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, Museum Campus Drive from Waldron to McFetridge and Solidarity Drive will be closed to all traffic for the Soldier Field 10 Mile Race.
 
Due to these closures, southbound #130 Museum Campus and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be unable to make stops past McFetridge/Solidarity Drive.
 
Southbound #130 and #146 buses instead will operate over their regular routes along Columbus, east on McFetridge for end of route on the south side of the Field Museum. Northbound #130 and #146 buses will operate west on McFetridge over the regular route.
 

Memorial Day Parade Closes Downtown Streets and Detours 16 Routes on Saturday

From 8 a.m. until approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 16 CTA bus routes will be detoured to adjacent streets due to the closure of State Street and all cross streets from Wacker Drive to Van Buren for the annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade steps off at noon.
 
Buses on the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer, #124 Navy Pier, #126 Jackson, #130 Museum Campus, #145 Wilson/ Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan will experience intermittent service delays and will be rerouted to adjacent streets during the parade.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.  
 

Lake Shore Drive Closes for the Annual Bike the Drive on Sunday

On Sunday, May 29 from 4 a.m. until approximately 10:45 a.m., 10 CTA routes will be detoured due to the closure of Lake Shore Drive between Bryn Mawr and 57th Street for the annual Bike the Drive event. The ride begins and ends in Grant Park at Columbus and Jackson.

Northbound #6 buses will operate over the regular route along Lake Park Avenue to 47th Street then will travel via 47th Street, King Drive, Cermak, Michigan and then resume the regular route. Southbound #6 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Southbound #10 buses will travel over the regular route along Balbo to Michigan then will operate via Michigan, Cermak, King Drive, 47th Street, Lake Park, 56th Street, Stony Island, 57th Street, Cornell to the west parking lot of the museum before turning to begin northbound service. Northbound #10 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Northbound #14 buses will operate over the regular route along Jeffery Boulevard to 67th Street then will travel via 67th Street, King Drive, Cermak to Michigan and then resume the regular along Michigan past Balbo. 
 
Southbound #14 buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan past Balbo to 47th Street then will operate via 47th Street, Lake Park, 56th Street, Stony Island, 67th Street to Jeffery and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #55 buses will operate over the regular route along Garfield to Lake Park then will travel via Lake Park to 47th Street before turning to begin westbound service. Westbound #55 buses will depart from the 47th Street terminal and travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #81 buses will travel over the regular route along Lawrence to Clarendon then will operate via Clarendon, Wilson to Marine before beginning westbound service. Westbound #81 buses will operate north on Marine to Lawrence and then resume the regular route. 
 
Eastbound #84 buses will travel over the regular route along Bryn Mawr to Sheridan then will operate via Sheridan, Foster, Broadway, Berwyn, Sheridan to Bryn Mawr before beginning westbound service. Westbound #84 buses will travel west on Bryn Mawr over the regular route. 
 
Southbound #130 buses will travel over the regular route along Roosevelt to Michigan before beginning northbound service. From Wabash/Roosevelt, northbound #130 buses will travel west on Roosevelt and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #145 and #146 buses will operate over their regular routes along Lake Shore Drive past Melrose to Inner Lake Shore Drive and then will travel via Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan, Stockton, LaSalle, Inner Lake Shore Drive to Michigan/Oak and then resume their regular routes south along Michigan. Northbound #145 and #146 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Southbound #147 buses will travel over the regular route along Foster to Marine then will operate via Marine, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan, Cannon, Stockton, LaSalle, Inner Lake Shore Drive to Michigan/Oak and then resume the regular route south along Michigan. Northbound #147 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Annual Ridge Run Detours #103 West 103rd and #112 Vincennes/111th Buses on Monday

On Monday, May 30 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., #103 103rd and #112 Vincennes/111th buses will be detoured due to the closure of 103rd Street/Longwood and 111th Street/Longwood for the 34th Annual Ridge Run.
 
Westbound #103 buses will travel over the regular route along 103rd Street to Beverly then will operate via Beverly, 95th Street, Western to 103rd Street and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #103 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Westbound #112 buses will operate over the regular route along Vincennes past Monterey to 119th Street then will travel via 119th Street, Western to 111th Street and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #111 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Changes to #62 Archer and #62H Archer/Harlem Bus Stops

Effective at the start of service on Wednesday, June 1, the following changes will be made to bus stops served by #62 Archer and #62H Archer/Harlem buses:
 
  • Archer/Linder: the southbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • Archer/Mayfield: the southbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • Archer/Austin: the southbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • Archer/Mulligan: the southbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
  • Archer/Narragansett: the southbound near side stop will be removed from service.
  • Archer/Meade: the northbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
 

May Fest Temporarily Reroutes Buses

Leland Avenue between Western and Lincoln, and Lincoln Avenue between Leland and Wilson will be closed from 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 2 until noon Monday, June 6, for the annual May Fest. As a result of these street closures, #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick and #49B North Western buses will be rerouted to adjacent streets.
 
Southbound #11 buses will operate over the regular route along Western past Leland to Wilson then will travel via Wilson to Lincoln and resume the regular route. Northbound #11 buses will travel over the regular route along Lincoln to Wilson then will operate via Wilson to Western and resume the regular route north on Western past Leland. 
 
Southbound #49B buses will operate over the regular route along Western past Leland to Montrose then will travel via Montrose, Lincoln, Wilson to Western and then resume the regular route. Northbound #49B buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Ongoing Bus Service Changes

Temporary Changes to Bus Stops at Chicago/Mies van der Rohe

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Monday, May 30, the following temporary changes have been made to bus stops at the intersection of Chicago/Mies van der Rohe due to a traffic signal replacement project:
 
#3 King Drive and #26 South Shore Express
  • The southbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
 
#66 Chicago
  • The westbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
 
#157 Streeterville/Taylor
  • The eastbound near side stop has been temporarily removed from service.
 

Temporary Relocation of #78 Montrose and #85 Central Bus Stops at Central/Montrose

Currently in effect until 4 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, the following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by #78 Montrose and #85 Central buses due to sidewalk construction work:
 
#78 Montrose
  • Montrose/Central: the westbound far side stop has been relocated to a near side stop.
 
#85 Central
  • Central/Montrose: the southbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
 

Construction Work on 83rd Street Detours Three Routes

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, #N5 South Shore, #26 South Shore Express and #71 71st buses are detoured due to the closure of 83rd Street between Commercial and Bond due to construction.
 
Southbound #N5, #26 and #71 buses are operating over their regular routes along South Shore to 79th Street then are traveling via 79th Street to Exchange and then resuming their regular routes south on Exchange past 83rd Street. Northbound #N5, #26 and #71 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 

Temporary Relocation of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Harrison/Paulina

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Friday, July 15, the westbound near side stop at Harrison/Paulina served by #126 Jackson buses has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Repairs to Bridge Detour #111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, September 30, #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are being detoured from Cottage Grove between 98th Street and 100th Place due to bridge repair work.
 
Southbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 95th Street to King Drive then operating via King Drive, 100th Street to Cottage Grove and resuming the regular route. Northbound #111 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 
#36 Broadway and #70 Division Buses Detoured on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer’s Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every through October 29, #36 Broadway and #70 Division buses will be detoured due to the closure of Division Street between State and Clark for the Near North Farmer’s Market.
 
Southbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #70 buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route. 
 

Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses

Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State and Grand, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets until further notice.
 
Southbound #29 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
 
Southbound #36 buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then are operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
 

Changes in Service along #8 Halsted Route for Bridge Reconstruction Project

Currently in effect until late-December 2011, Halsted Street between Division and the north branch of the Chicago River is closed due to a bridge reconstruction project.
 
Northbound #8 Halsted buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted past Chicago to North Branch then are operating via North Branch, Cherry, Division to Halsted and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #8 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 
Changes to Bus Stops
  • Halsted/North Branch: the northbound far side stop on Halsted has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop on North Branch at Halsted.
  • Halsted/Division: the southbound far side stop has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop.
 

Service Changes for 13 CTA Bus Routes due to Wacker Drive Construction

Until further notice, 13 CTA bus routes that operate on or near Wacker Drive have undergone service changes due to several downtown street closures as part of the Revive Wacker Drive reconstruction project. 
 
These street closures are affecting service on the #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick, #19 United Center Express, #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #120 Ogilvie/Wacker Express, #121 Union/Wacker Express, #122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express, #123 Illinois Center/Union Express, #124 Navy Pier, #125 Water Tower Express, #129 West Loop/South Loop and the #157 Streeterville/Taylor.

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, Franklin Street between Harrison and Van Buren and Lower Wacker Drive between Randolph and Harrison are closed until May 2012. As a result of these closures and other street reconfigurations, the following changes in bus service currently are in effect:
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are traveling over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then are operating via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and resuming the regular route. Southbound #11 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes also have been made to bus stops served by northbound #11 buses:
 
  • Canal/Harrison: a far side stop has been added to service.
  • Canal/Jackson: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Jackson at the Chicago River: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • 404 W. Harrison: the mid-block stop has been removed from service.
  • Franklin/Van Buren: the far side stop has been removed from service.
 

#121 Union/Wacker Express

Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Southbound #121 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand to Wabash then traveling via Wabash, Wacker, Franklin to Adams and then resuming the regular route.
 

#135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express

From Union Station, northbound #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express buses are traveling south on Wacker to Jackson then are traveling east on Jackson past Franklin and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #135 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #136 Sheridan/LaSalle buses are operating south on Wacker to Van Buren then are traveling via Van Buren, Canal to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #136 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#156 LaSalle (PM Service Only)
During the evening rush period only, northbound #156 LaSalle buses departing from Union Station are traveling west on Van Buren to Wacker then are operating via Wacker to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary bus stop change has been made and is in effect for northbound #156 buses during the evening rush period only: 
 
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
