Orange Line – Other Events Affecting Service
Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track between the Kedzie and 35th/Archer Stations
A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Orange Line trains between the Kedzie and 35th/Archer stations from 9 p.m. until the end of service (approximately midnight) on Sunday, May 16 and then again from 9 p.m. Monday, May 17 until the end of service (approximately 1:30 a.m.), due to routine track maintenance.
During these times, northbound Orange Line customers at the Western station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Late Night Single Track in Effect at the 35th/Archer Orange Line Station Next Week

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service
Northbound Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track at the 69th Street Station
A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains at the 69th Street station from 11 p.m. Friday, May 14 until 4 a.m. the following morning, due to station repair work.
Northbound Red Line customers at the 69th Street station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Temporary Closure of Main Entrance to the 79th Street Station on Saturday
From 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, May 15, the main entrance to the 79th Street Red Line station on the south side of 79th Street temporarily will be closed due to the replacement of the station canopy glass. Customers can access Red Line trains via the auxiliary entrance located on the north side of 79th Street.
As a result of this work, bus stops in front of the station temporarily will be relocated during this time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect along the 95th/Dan Ryan Branch Next Week
Red Line trains operating along the 95th/Dan Ryan branch will undergo late night single tracks beginning Monday night, May 17 through Friday morning, May 21, while crews make station improvements.
Monday Night – Northbound at 87th
From 11 p.m. Monday, May 17 until 4 a.m. the following morning, northbound Red Line customers at the 87th Street station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Tuesday and Wednesday Nights – Northbound at Sox-35th
From 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 11 p.m. Wednesday, May 19 until 4 a.m. the following morning, northbound Red Line customers at the Sox-35th station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Thursday Night – Southbound at Sox-35th
From 11 p.m. Thursday, May 20 until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound Red Line customers at the Sox-35th station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Purple Line – Other Events Affecting Service
Southbound Trains Undergo Daytime Reroute on Saturday
From 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, May 15, southbound Purple Line trains will undergo a single track between the Central and Davis stations.
Southbound customers at the Noyes and Foster stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
REMINDER: Service along #168 UIC-Pilsen Express Ends on Friday
At the request of United Parcel Service (UPS) the #168 UIC-Pilsen Express route will be eliminated due to low ridership. The last day of service along the #168 route is Friday, May 14.
The #169 69th/UPS Express route – which operates from the 69th Street Red Line station to the Hodgkins plant – will remain in operation and serve as an alternate travel option for UPS employees. UPS employees in the Pilsen neighborhood can connect to the Red Line using either the #18 16th/18th or the #21 Cermak bus routes.
UPDATE: Sewer Construction Work Temporarily Detours #78 Montrose Buses
Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, June 4, Montrose Avenue between Paulina and Greenview is closed to all traffic due to a sewer construction project.
Eastbound #78 Montrose buses are traveling over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then operating via Damen, Wilson and then resuming the regular route east on Wilson past Clark. Westbound #78 buses are traveling the reverse route.
#14 Jeffery Express Bus Stop at Monroe/LaSalle Temporarily Relocated
Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, May 14, the near side bus stop at Monroe/LaSalle served by southbound #14 Jeffery Express buses temporarily has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
Elimination of #24 Wentworth Bus Stop
The northbound mid-block stop on Dearborn between Lake and Wacker served by #24 Wentworth buses has been removed from service to help improve flow of traffic in the area. Customers may board and exit northbound #24 buses from the far side stop at Dearborn/Randolph.
Changes to Bus Stops along 13 Routes
Currently in effect, changes have been made to bus stops along the following 13 CTA bus routes:
#12 Roosevelt
- Roosevelt/Keeler: the westbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
- 4620 W. Roosevelt: the westbound mid-block stop between Kolmar and 47th Avenue has been removed from service.
- Roosevelt/Cicero: the westbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
- Roosevelt/Kostner: the eastbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
#30 South Chicago
- South Chicago/Drexel: the southbound and northbound stops have been removed from service.
#52 Kedzie/California
- Kedzie/Cermak: the northbound and southbound near side stops have been relocated to far side stops.
- Kedzie/Lexington: northbound and southbound buses now are serving the new near side stop at Kedzie/Lexington.
- Kedzie/Flournoy: the northbound and southbound stops have been removed from service.
- Kedzie/Franklin Boulevard: the northbound far side stop has been removed from service; however, the northbound near side stop at Franklin Boulevard will remain in service.
- Kedzie/Harrison: the southbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
- Kedzie/Arthington: the southbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
- Kedzie/Douglas Boulevard: the southbound stop has been removed from service.
#53 Pulaski
- Pulaski/Washington: the southbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
- Pulaski/Division: the southbound and northbound near side stops have been relocated to far side stops.
#60 Blue Island/26th
- Randolph/Field Drive: the eastbound far side stop has been removed from service; however, the near side stop will remain in service.
#71 71st/South Shore
- 71st Street/St. Lawrence: the eastbound far side stop has been relocated to a near side stop.
#80 Irving Park
- Irving Park/Laramie: the eastbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
- Irving Park/Nottingham: the eastbound and westbound stops have been removed from service.
#82 Kimball/Homan
- Kimball/Fullerton: the northbound near side stop has been relocated to a far side stop.
- Kimball/Milwaukee/Diversey: the northbound and southbound near side stops have been removed from service.
- Kimball/Waveland: the northbound stop has been removed from service.
- Central Park/Ogden: the southbound near side stop has been removed from service; however, the southbound far side stop will remain in service.
#87 87th
- 1135 – 1140 E. 87th Street: the eastbound and westbound mid-block stops on E. 87th Street between Avalon and Greenwood have been removed from service.
- 87th Street/Exchange: the eastbound and westbound stops have been removed from service.
- 87th Street/Drexel: the westbound stop has been removed from service.
- 100 W. 87th Street: the westbound near side stop at the mall entrance has been relocated to a far side stop.
#100 Jeffery Manor Express
- 95th Street/Stony Island Plaza: eastbound buses now are serving the new far side stop on 95th Street at the east driveway of the Stony Island Plaza.
#119 Michigan/119th
- 119th Street/Ada: eastbound and westbound buses now are serving the new near side stop at 119th Street/Ada.
#171 U of Chicago/Midway
- Dorchester/60th Street: northbound buses now are serving the new far side stop at Dorchester/60th Street.
#172 U of Chicago/Kenwood
- Dorchester/60th Street: northbound buses now are serving the new far side stop at Dorchester/60th Street.
Temporary Relocation of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Jackson/Kedzie
Currently in effect until Friday, May 28, the westbound far side stop at Jackson/Kedzie temporarily will be relocated to a near side stop due to nearby construction.
Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at the 79th Street Red Line Station

Customers traveling to and from the 79th Street Red Line station via eastbound #79 buses can board and exit either from the near side stop at 79th Street/Lafayette or the far side stop at 79th Street/State.
Buses Detoured for the Annual Monsters of the Midway Criterium Bicycle Race
Ellis Avenue and Dorchester Avenue at Midway Plaisance will be closed from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, May 15 for the Annual Monsters of the Midway Criterium Bicycle Race.
Eastbound #59 59th/61st buses will operate over the regular route along Dorchester to 60th Street then will travel via 60th Street, Stony Island, Midway Plaisance East, Cornell, Midway Plaisance West, Stony Island to 60th Street before turning to begin westbound service. Westbound #59 buses will travel over the regular route.
Southbound #171 U of Chicago/Hyde Park and #172 U of Chicago/Kenwood buses will travel over their regular routes along Ellis Avenue to 57th Street then will operate via 57th Street, Cottage Grove to 60th Street and then resume their regular routes.
Northbound #171 and #172 buses will operate over their regular routes along 60th Street to Stony Island then will travel via Stony Island to 59th Street and then resume the regular route past Dorchester.
Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer’s Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday beginning May 15 through October 30, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer’s Market.
Southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
Temporary Elimination of Bus Stop at Michigan/Delaware
Effective at the start of service on Monday, May 17 until Tuesday, August 31, the southbound near side stop at Michigan/Delaware temporarily will be removed from service due to sidewalk reconstruction work.
This stop is served by #33 Mag Mile Express, #143 Stockton/Michigan Express, #144 Marine/Michigan Express, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express, #148 Clarendon/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
Customers may board and exit these buses from the near side stop at Michigan/Pearson.
Jackie Robinson Opening Day Parade Temporarily Reroutes Buses on Sunday
The Jackie Robinson Opening Day parade is scheduled for Sunday, May 16 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Parade participants will assemble at 119th Street/Halsted and will proceed north on Halsted to 107th Street; west to Morgan and then disband at Jackie Robinson Park.
Southbound #8A South Halsted buses will travel over the regular route along Halsted to 103rd Street then will operate via 103rd Street, Vincennes, 119th Street, Morgan, 120th Street to Halsted and then resume the regular route. Northbound #8A buses will travel the reverse route.

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Jeffery/75th Street
Currently in effect until further notice, the southbound far side bus stop at Jeffery/75th Street temporarily has been relocated to a near side stop due to nearby sidewalk construction. This stop is served by southbound #14 Jeffery Express and #15 Jeffery Local buses.
#56 Milwaukee Bus Stop at Milwaukee/Diversey Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the southbound near side bus stop at Milwaukee/Diversey served by #56 Milwaukee buses temporarily has been relocated to a far side stop.
Bridge Closure Temporarily Reroutes Two CTA Bus Routes
The Ewing Street Bridge over the Calumet River at 3331 East 92nd Street is closed to all traffic for bridge repairs until Monday, May 31. As a result, #26 South Shore Drive and #30 South Chicago buses are undergoing a temporary reroute.
Southbound #26 and #30 buses will travel over the regular route to 91st Street/Mackinaw then will operate via Mackinaw, Harbor, South Chicago, 95th Street to Ewing and then resume the regular route.
Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Ewing/95th Street then will operate via 95th Street, South Chicago, Harbor, Mackinaw to 91st Street and then resume the regular route.
Temporary Relocation of #93 California/Dodge Bus Stop
Currently in effect until Thursday, May 27, the southbound curb lane of California Avenue at Granville is closed to all traffic due to construction. As a result of this lane closure, the southbound near side stop at California/Granville served by #93 California/Dodge buses temporarily has been relocated approximately 175 feet north.
#72 Bus Stop at North/Clybourn Red Line Station Temporarily Relocated Due to Construction
Currently in effect until Wednesday, June 30, the eastbound mid-block stop in front of the station that is served by #72 North Avenue buses temporarily has been relocated to a near side stop at the intersection of North/Clybourn. The relocation is due to construction at the North/Clybourn Red Line station.
In addition, a temporary far side stop at the North Avenue/Halsted intersection has been added. This stop will be served by #72 buses.
#81 Lawrence Bus Stops near the Kennedy Expressway Temporarily Eliminated
Currently in effect until Tuesday, August 31, the eastbound and westbound near side bus stops on Lawrence at LeClaire served by #81 Lawrence buses temporarily have been removed from service due to rehabilitation work on the Lawrence Avenue viaduct.
#111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses Undergo Reroutes Due to Bridge Repair Work
Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday, October 31, the 111th Street Bridge over Interstate 57 (I-57) is closed to all traffic due to bridge and deck replacement work.
Southbound #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are operating over the regular route along 111th Street to Marshfield then traveling via Marshfield, 112th Place, Hamlet to 111th Street and then resuming the regular route east on 111th Street.
Northbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 111th Street to Throop then operating via Throop, 107th Street, Vincennes and then resuming the regular route south on Vincennes past 111th Street.
Temporary Removal of #126 Jackson Bus Stop at Jackson/Sangamon
Currently in effect until Friday, September 30, 2011, the eastbound far side stop at Jackson/Sangamon served by #126 Jackson buses temporarily has been removed from service due to nearby construction. Customers may board and exit eastbound #126 buses at either Jackson/Morgan or Jackson/Peoria.
Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses
Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand/State Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets until further notice.
Southbound #29 State buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
Southbound #36 Broadway buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
Temporary Changes to Bus Stops near Sheridan/Foster
Currently in effect until further notice, the northbound near side stop at Sheridan/Foster temporarily has been removed from service due to the demolition and reconstruction of a nearby building. This stop is served by #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses.
Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project
Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, several streets in the downtown area have been closed or reconfigured until Monday, April 2, 2012. As a result of these closures and reconfigurations, the following changes in service along three CTA bus routes currently are in effect:
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Van Buren Street between Canal and Clinton has been reconfigured to accommodate westbound traffic only. As a result, the southbound near side bus stop at Van Buren/Canal served by #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses has been relocated to a far side stop.
#121 Union Wacker Express
Lower Wacker Drive between Harrison and Randolph is closed to all traffic due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project. During this time #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are being detoured to adjacent streets.
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
Southbound #121 buses will operate over the regular route along Lower Wacker to the exit ramp for Upper Wacker and then travel via Upper Wacker to Adams and resume the regular route west on Adams.
#124 Navy Pier
Van Buren Street between Canal and Clinton has been reconfigured to accommodate westbound traffic only.
Westbound #124 Navy Pier buses are traveling over the regular route along Clinton past Van Buren to Harrison then are operating via Harrison to Canal and resuming the regular route north on Canal. Eastbound #124 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
