EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE BEGINNING THE WEEKEND OF MARCH 12 – 14

CTA Provides Convenient Service to Flower and Garden Show CTA buses provide convenient service to Navy Pier for the annual Chicago Flower and Garden Show in Festival Hall, Saturday, March 13 through Sunday, March 21. Show hours are from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Buses on the #29 State, #65 Grand, and #66 Chicago routes serve Navy Pier daily. New this year are the additions of the #2 Hyde Park Express buses that serve Navy Pier during weekday morning and afternoon rush periods and the #124 Navy Pier route which now operates to the pier seven days a week.

Red Line Single Track in Effect Friday Night and Saturday NightDue to construction and maintenance, single track service will be in effect southbound on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line between 63rd and 69th Streets from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday and again from 8 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday. Customers should allow 20 minutes in additional travel time while the work is being performed.

Filming Project Closes Loop Streets Saturday and SundayThe intersection of Lake and Wabash will be closed from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday due to a filming project. Northbound #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will operate via State, Wacker, back to Michigan then resume the regular route. Southbound service will not be affected.

On Sunday, LaSalle will be closed between Jackson and Adams; and Jackson will be closed between Wells and Clark from 5 am. until 1 p.m. Eastbound #28 Stony Island Express, #126 Jackson and #151 Sheridan buses will operate via Franklin, Monroe, Clark, back to Jackson then resume the regular route.

Additional Rail Service Provided for St. Patrick's Day Parade SaturdayThe St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place on Columbus Drive Saturday. The parade steps off at noon proceeding north on Columbus from Balbo to Monroe. Longer trains will operate on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line from 9:22 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. and on the Forest Park branch from 9:44 a.m. until 4:37 p.m. The Brown Line will operate longer trains from 9:45 a.m. until 5 p.m. Normal service will operate on the Red Line with eight-car trains. Longer trains may be provided on the Green and Orange Lines as needed. Additional Customer Assistants will be available at downtown rail stations to assist spectators traveling to the parade.

Additionally, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #28 Stony Island Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses that ordinarily operate via Columbus and Balbo will be rerouted in both directions to operate via Roosevelt and Michigan during the parade.

Additional Bus Service Provided for Southside Irish Parade SundayThe Southside Irish Parade will take place along Western between 103rd and 115th Sunday. Additional service will be scheduled from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on the #52A South Kedzie, #95 W West 95th, #103 West 103rd, and #112 Vincennes/111th bus routes as crowds warrant. Additionally, #103 buses will detour around the parade in both directions via Longwood, 99th, Kedzie, back to 103rd then resume the regular route. #112 buses will operate in both directions via Longwood, 119th, Kedzie, back to 111th then resume the regular route.

Wacker Closes at Clark for Roadway Testing SundayThe Clark Street bridge over the Chicago River will be closed to traffic, except for the right turn lane onto westbound Wacker Drive. Eastbound Wacker Drive also will be closed at Clark for roadway testing at that location. The closure will take place Sunday from 6 a.m. until noon. Southbound #22 Clark buses will operate via Kinzie, LaSalle, Washington, back to Clark then resume the regular route. Northbound service will not be affected.

Clark Street Closes for Construction Beginning MondayClark Street will be closed between Polk and 18th beginning Monday, March 15 and lasting through September while the intersection of Clark/Roosevelt is reconfigured. Northbound #24 Wentworth buses will operate via Cermak, Clark, Archer, State, Polk to Dearborn then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will operate via Polk, State, Archer, Clark, Cermak to Wentworth then resume the regular route.

Bridge Testing for Upcoming Boating Season ContinuesAll affected bus routes will be detoured to adjacent streets for the duration of the closures.

The Madison bridge over the Chicago River will be tested Friday, March 12 from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The closure will affect the #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #124 Navy Pier and #157 Streeterville bus routes.

The Harrison bridge will be tested Monday, March 15 from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The closure may affect some morning rush period trips on the #37 Sedgwick/Ogden route.

The Franklin bridge will be tested Tuesday, March 16 from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The closure may affect some morning rush period trips on the #37 Sedgwick/Ogden route.

The Columbus bridge will be tested Wednesday, March 17 from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The closure will affect the #124 Navy Pier route.

The Loomis bridge over the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal will be tested from 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 until 2 a.m. Thursday, March 18. The closure will affect the #9 Ashland route.

The Washington bridge will be tested Thursday, March 18 from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The closure will affect the #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #124 Navy Pier and #157 Streeterville routes.

The State Street bridge also will be tested Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. This closure will affect the #29 State, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer routes.
