Blue Line – Slow Zone Work

Blue Line Service between Clark/Lake and Western/Milwaukee Temporarily Suspended this Weekend

CTA will suspend rail service in the Blue Line Dearborn subway from Clark/Lake to Western/Milwaukee starting at 10 p.m. Friday, June 5 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 8 due to track replacement work.
 
Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops at Western/Milwaukee, Damen, Division, Chicago, Grand and Clark/Lake. Both the Western/Milwaukee and Clark/Lake stations are accessible to customers with disabilities.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line – Slow Zone Work

Daytime Reroute of Red Line Trains at Sheridan

A daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, June 6, while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During this time, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 
Next Week
From 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, June 9 through Friday, June 12, a daytime reroute will be in effect for Red Line trains operating in both directions at the Sheridan station while crews replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.
 
During these times, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains from the outer platforms instead of the inner platforms.
 

Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Northbound Late Night Single Track in Effect between the Roosevelt and Grand Stations

A late night single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains between the Roosevelt and Grand stations from 11 p.m. Friday, June 5 until 7 a.m. the following morning, due to escalator replacement work.
 
Northbound Red Line customers at the Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe and Lake stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Two-Phase Late Night Single Track between the 69th Street and 95th Street Stations

Due to track maintenance work, a two-phase late night single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains between the 69th Street and 87th Street stations from 11 p.m. Sunday, June 7 until 4 a.m. the following morning.
 
Phase I – 79th Street to 87th Street
From 11 p.m. Sunday, June 7 until 1 a.m. the following morning, southbound Red Line customers at the 79th Street station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Phase II – 69th Street to 87th Street
From 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. Monday, June 8, southbound Red Line customers at the 69th Street and 79th Street stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Track Maintenance Work Continues along the 95th/Dan Ryan Branch Next Week

From 11 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, June 8 through Friday morning, June 12, a late night single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains between the 63rd Street and 69th Street stations while crews continue track maintenance work.
 
During these times, southbound Red Line customers at the 63rd Street station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Blue Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Northbound Blue Line Trains Undergo Late Night Single Track Next Week

Due to signal upgrade work, a late night single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains between the Grand and Damen stations from 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday night, June 9 through Friday morning, June 12.
 
During these times, northbound Blue Line customers at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Red/Brown Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Red and Brown Line Trains Rerouted at Belmont This Weekend

Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted this weekend to allow crews to perform work along the northbound platforms at the Fullerton and Belmont stations.
 
From 9 p.m. Friday, June 5 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 8, southbound Red and Brown  line customers at the Fullerton and Belmont stations must board and exit trains from the southbound Brown Line side of the platform.
 
Northbound Red and Brown line customers at the Fullerton and Belmont stations must board and exit trains from the platform where southbound Red Line trains normally stop.
 
During this time, northbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Northbound Brown Line customers who want to exit at Diversey should ride to Belmont and board a southbound train to Diversey. Northbound customers who want to board at Diversey should board a southbound train and exit at Fullerton to board a northbound train.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction and rail line of each train.
 

Orange Line – Other Events Affecting Service

Daytime Single Track in Effect for Loop-bound Orange Line Trains on Saturday

Due to track maintenance work, a daytime single track will be in effect for Loop-bound Orange Line trains between the Western and 35th/Archer stations from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.
 
Orange Line customers at the 35th/Archer station traveling toward the Loop must board and exit trains from the side of the platform normally served by Midway-bound trains.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Additional Service for Special Events

CTA Provides Service to the Honduras versus U.S. Men’s Soccer Match

CTA will provide additional service for fans heading to the Honduras versus U.S. soccer match at Soldier Field on Saturday, June 6. Game time is 7 p.m.
 
Beginning at 4:30 p.m. more frequent service will operate on the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express route and longer trains will operate on the Red and Orange lines. Buses will depart from the Museum Campus approximately every 10 minutes for one hour following the game.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Buses Reroute for Funeral Procession

Pulaski will be temporarily closed to northbound traffic from 83rd Street to 67th Street and Cicero will be temporarily closed at 67th Street intersection for the funeral procession for slain Chicago Police Officer Alejandro Valadez on Saturday, June 6 from noon until 2 p.m.
 
Northbound #53A South Pulaski buses operating from Pulaski/111th Street to 31st Street/Komensky will operate over the regular route to Pulaski at 87th Street then will travel via 87th Street, Kedzie, 63rd Street then return to Pulaski and resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #53A South Pulaski buses operating from Pulaski/81st Street to 31st Street/Komensky will operate over the regular route to Pulaski/81st Street then continue south for end of route. Buses will not turn into the terminal.
 
Northbound buses will begin their trips from Pulaski/81st Street to 87th Street then will travel via 87thStreet, Kedzie, 63rd Street then return to Pulaski and resume the regular route northbound.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
 

UPDATE: Additional PM Service Added to Select #156 LaSalle Buses Departing from Union Station

To accommodate increased ridership, during the evening rush period select #156 LaSalle buses will depart northbound from Union Station on the near side of Canal at Jackson and then will operate via Canal, Monroe to LaSalle and then resume the regular route. 
 
Buses are currently being detoured due to the reconstruction of the Jackson Boulevard viaduct between Canal and Wacker.

#75 74th/75th Bus Stop Changes

Due to sewer construction work, the eastbound and westbound bus stops at 75th Street/Indiana, served by #75 74th/75th buses, will be temporarily removed from service until 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 13.
 
Eastbound customers can board and exit #75 buses from the near side stops at 75th Street/Prairie or 75th Street/Michigan.
 
Westbound customers can board and exit #75 buses from the near side stops at 75th Street/Michigan or 75th Street/Prairie.
 

#56 Milwaukee Bus Stop Change

Due to sidewalk repair work at Des Plaines/Lake, the southbound near side bus stop served by #56 Milwaukee buses will be temporarily removed from service until Tuesday, June 30.
 

Washington Street Viaduct Work Detours #X20 Washington/Madison Buses

Washington Street between Western and California will be closed to all traffic until 5 p.m. Thursday, June 11, due to viaduct work.
 
Westbound #X20 Washington/Madison buses will travel over the regular route along Washington to Western then will operate via Western, Madison, California to Washington and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #X20 buses will travel the regular route.
 

Five Routes Detoured This Weekend for the 22nd Annual Printers Row Book Fair

Dearborn Street between Harrison and Congress, and Polk Street between Clark and State will be closed to all traffic until 11 p.m. Sunday, June 7, for the 22nd Annual Printers Row Book Fair. Due to these street closures #22 Clark, #24 Wentworth, #36 Broadway, #62 Archer and #129 West Loop/South Loop (PM service only) buses will be rerouted to adjacent streets.

Construction Work at the Fullerton and Belmont Stations Detours Three Routes

Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, both Belmont Avenue at the Brown Line station and Fullerton Avenue at the Brown Line station will be closed to all traffic from 9 p.m. Friday, June 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday, June 6.
 
Southbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will operate over the regular route along Lincoln past Sheffield to Fullerton where buses will make a near side service stop and then will continue southeast on Lincoln over the regular route.
 
Northbound #11 buses will travel over the regular route along Lincoln to Fullerton where buses will make a far side stop then will continue northwest over Lincoln over the regular route.
 
Eastbound #74 Fullerton buses will travel over the regular route along Fullerton to Sheffield where buses will make a near side service stop. Buses will continue south on Sheffield to Webster then will operate via Webster, Lincoln, Sheffield to Fullerton for the end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #74 buses will depart from Fullerton/Sheffield and continue west on Fullerton over the regular route.
 
Eastbound #77 Belmont buses will operate over the regular route along Belmont to Sheffield and then will travel via Sheffield, Addison, Halsted to Belmont and then resume the regular route. Westbound #77 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

#56 Milwaukee Buses Detoured for the Metronome Celebration This Weekend

Milwaukee Avenue between Francis and Maplewood will be closed to all traffic from 2 a.m. Saturday, June 6 until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 7, due to the Metronome Celebration.
 
Southbound #56 Milwaukee buses will travel over the regular route along Milwaukee to Sacramento then will operate via Sacramento, Armitage to Milwaukee and then resume the regular route. Northbound #56 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Detours Buses Serving the Museum Campus This Weekend

From 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Saturday, June 6 and then again from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, Museum Campus Drive between Waldron and McFetridge and Solidarity Drive will be closed to all traffic due to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. 
 
Due to these closures, southbound #130 and #146 buses will not be able to make stops past McFetridge/Solidarity Drive. Buses will instead operate over their regular routes along Columbus, east on McFetridge for end of route on the south side of the Field Museum. Northbound #130 and #146 buses will operate west on McFetridge over the regular route.
 

UPDATED: Bronzeville Community Market Detours #4 Cottage Grove Buses on Saturday

UPDATE: This event will not require the closure of Cottage Grove Avenue; therefore this reroute has been cancelled.
 
Cottage Grove Avenue between 44th Street and 45th Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 6 for the Bronzeville Community Market.
 
Northbound #4 Cottage Grove buses will operate over the regular route along Cottage Grove to 47th Street then will travel via 47th Street, Drexel, 43rd Street to Cottage Grove and then resume the regular route. Southbound #4 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Helicopter Lift Temporarily Detours Five Bus Routes on Saturday

On Saturday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Madison Street between Canal and Franklin and Wacker Drive between Washington and Monroe will be closed to all traffic due to a helicopter lift.
 
Northbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will operate over the regular route along Madison to Franklin then will travel via Franklin to Randolph past Jefferson and then resume the regular route west along Randolph. Southbound #14 buses will travel over the regular route.
 
Westbound #20 Madison and #56 Milwaukee buses will travel over their regular routes along Madison to Franklin then will operate via Franklin, Randolph, Clinton to Madison then resume their regular routes. Eastbound #20 and #56 buses will travel over their regular routes.
 
Westbound #60 Blue Island/26th and #124 Navy Pier buses will operate over their regular routes along Madison to Franklin then will travel via Franklin, Randolph to Clinton then resume their regular routes. Eastbound #60 and #124 buses will operate over their regular routes.
 

#70 Division Buses Rerouted for the Puerto Rican Youth Parade & Jamboree

On Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Division Street between Western and California will be closed for the annual Puerto Rican Youth Parade & Jamboree.
 
Westbound #70 Division buses will travel the regular route along Division to Western and then will operate via Western, Augusta, California to Division and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #70 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Flag Day Parade Detours #76 Diversey Buses on Saturday

Diversey Avenue between Oak Park and Sayre will be closed to all traffic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 6, due to the Flag Day Parade. The parade will step-off at 11 a.m.
 
Eastbound #76 Diversey buses will depart from the terminal at Neva/Diversey then will operate via Diversey, Harlem, Grand, Fullerton, Narragansett to Diversey and then resume the regular route. Westbound #76 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

The 13.1 Marathon Chicago Reroutes Buses Sunday Morning

South Shore Drive between 67th Street and 71st Street will be closed to all traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8, for the inaugural 13.1 Marathon Chicago. The race begins at 7 a.m.
 
Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express buses will travel over the regular route along South Shore Drive to 75th Street then will operate via 75th Street, Jeffery to 67th Street and then resume the regular route. Southbound #6 buses will travel the reverse route.
 
Eastbound #67 67th/69th/71st buses traveling to La Rabida Hospital only will operate over the regular route along 67th Street to Jeffery, continue east on 67th Street to the 67th Street/South Shore terminal for end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #67 buses will depart from the terminal and operate west on 67th Street over the regular route.  
 

Buses Rerouted for the Annual Run for the Zoo Race

On Sunday, June 7 from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., Stockton Drive between Diversey and LaSalle; Cannon Drive between Diversey and Fullerton; and Lake Shore Drive West between Diversey and Cannon will be closed for the annual Run for the Zoo race.
 
Eastbound #76 Diversey buses will operate over the regular route along Diversey to Sheridan then will operate via Sheridan, Belmont to Lake Shore Drive West south of Oakdale for the end of route and start of westbound service. Westbound #76 buses will continue south on Lake Shore Drive West to Diversey and then resume the regular route.
 
Southbound #151 Sheridan buses will travel over the regular route along Sheridan/Lakeview past Diversey to Fullerton and then will operate via Fullerton, Lincoln Park West, Clark, LaSalle to Inner Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route. Northbound #151 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

Ongoing Bus Reroutes

Temporary Relocation of Bus Terminal at Ford City Mall

Until 3 p.m. Monday, June 8, the CTA bus terminal located at Ford City Mall will be temporarily relocated approximately 800 feet southeast due to construction. This terminal is served by #54B South Cicero and #79 79th buses.
 

Westbound #78 Montrose Buses Temporarily Rerouted in June

The westbound lane of Montrose Avenue between Damen and Ashland will be closed to all traffic until 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, due to water main repairs.
 
Westbound #78 Montrose buses will travel over the regular route along Montrose to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, Wilson, Damen to Montrose and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #78 buses will travel over the regular route.
 

Westbound #70 Division Buses Detoured Until Early-July due to Bridge Repairs

The westbound lanes of the Division Street Bridge over the north branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic until 3 p.m. Friday, July 3, due to repair work.
 
Westbound #70 Division buses will operate over the regular route along Division to Halsted then will travel via Halsted, Chicago, Milwaukee, Elston to Division and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #70 buses will travel the regular route.
 

Sewer Repair Work Reroutes #95E 93rd/95th and #N5 South Shore Night Buses

Due to sewer construction work, 93rd Street between Muskegon and Escanaba/Anthony/Exchange will be closed to all traffic until 4 p.m. Friday, July 10.
 
Eastbound #95E 93rd/95th and northbound #N5 South Shore Night buses will travel over their regular routes along 93rd Street to Colfax then will operate via Colfax, 95th Street, Escanaba to 93rd Street/Anthony/Exchange and then will travel northeast on Exchange over their regular routes. Westbound #95E and southbound #N5 buses will travel the reverse route.
 

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Construction

Until Friday, July 17, #60 Blue Island/26th buses operating in both directions will be rerouted due to the closure of Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Street and the closure of Loomis Street between Cermak and 18th Street. The street closures are due to construction work at the Benito Juarez School campus.
 
Eastbound #60 Blue Island buses will operate over the regular route along Blue Island to Ashland then will travel via Ashland, 18th Street to Loomis/Blue Island and then resume the regular route along Blue Island. Westbound #60 buses will travel over the regular route along Blue Island past Laflin to 21st Street then will operate via 21st Street, Ashland to Cermak/Blue Island and then resume the regular route along Blue Island.
 

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer’s Market

From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday beginning May 16 through October 31, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer’s Market.
 
Southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
 
Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route. 
 

Buses Rerouted Due to Construction on Milwaukee Avenue

Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will be rerouted until Monday, November 30, due to construction on Milwaukee Avenue between Gale and Montrose.
 
Eastbound #81W West Lawrence and northbound #91 Austin buses will travel over their regular routes to Lawrence/Milwaukee to a far side stop then will continue eastbound on Lawrence to Lipps, heading north on Lipps to enter the Jefferson Park bus terminal. Westbound #81W and southbound #91 buses are not affected and will travel along their regular routes.
 

14 CTA Bus Routes Affected Due to Jackson Viaduct Work

Due to the reconstruction of the Jackson Boulevard viaduct between Canal and Wacker, changes in service along 14 CTA bus routes are expected to remain in place until April 2010. The following CTA bus routes are being rerouted to adjacent streets:
