Blue Line – Events Affecting Service
Late Night Trains to Operate on the Same Tracks at the Logan Square Station
All late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the southbound (to Forest Park) tracks between the California and Belmont stations from 10 p.m. Friday, July 22 until 6 a.m. the following morning and then again from 10 p.m. Saturday, July 23 until 6 a.m. the following morning, due to tunnel repair work.
During these times, northbound (to O’Hare) Blue Line customers at the Logan Square station must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Late Night Boarding Changes in Dearborn Subway Next Week
All late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the northbound (to O’Hare) tracks in the Dearborn subway from 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, July 25 through Wednesday morning, July 27, due to subway cleaning work.
Southbound (to Forest Park) Blue Line customers at the Lake, Washington, Monroe and Jackson stations must board and exit trains from the northbound (to O’Hare) side of the tracks.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Wednesday and Thursday Nights – Affecting Northbound Trains
From 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 27 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 10 p.m. Thursday, July 28 until 4 a.m. the following morning, all late night Blue Line trains operating in the Dearborn subway will be routed to operate on the southbound (to Forest Park) tracks as subway cleaning work continues.
During these times, northbound (to O’Hare) Blue Line customers at the Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Lake stations must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Green Line – Events Affecting Service
Late Night Trains Routed to Operate on Same Tracks at Central and Laramie
All late night Green Line trains will be routed to operate on the eastbound (to the Loop) tracks between the Cicero and Austin stations from 9 p.m. each night until approximately 2 a.m. (or end of service) the following morning beginning Sunday night, July 24 through Friday morning, July 29, due to track maintenance work.
During this time, westbound (to Harlem) customers at the Laramie station must board and exit trains from the eastbound (to the Loop) platform.
Westbound (to Harlem) customers at the Central station must board and exit trains from the eastbound (to the Loop) side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
Service for Upcoming Events
CTA Provides Service to Manchester United vs. Chicago Fire Game at Soldier Field
The CTA will provide additional service along select bus and rail routes serving the Soldier Field area in anticipation of large crowds attending the Manchester United vs. Chicago Fire soccer game on Saturday, July 23. Game time is 4 p.m.
Longer trains will operate on the Orange Line from Roosevelt and on the Blue Line from LaSalle beginning at 2 p.m. until approximately 10 p.m.
More frequent service will be provided along the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express route beginning at 1 p.m. until the end of the game as crowds warrant.
Buses Rerouted
In anticipation of heavy traffic along Roosevelt and Lake Shore Drive due to the soccer game at Soldier Field, buses operating along the #130 Museum Campus and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express routes will be detoured from 2:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Southbound #130 and #146 buses will travel over their regular routes along Columbus to Lake Shore Drive then will operate via Lake Shore Drive, 18th Street to Museum Campus Drive and then resume their regular routes.
Northbound #130 and #146 buses will travel over their regular routes along Museum Campus Drive to Waldron then will operate via Waldron, Lake Shore Drive to Columbus and then resume their regular routes.
Longer Orange Line Trains to Operate for the Jimmy Buffet Concert at Toyota Park
The CTA will operate longer trains along the Orange Line beginning at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23 until approximately 1 a.m. the following morning, to accommodate those attending the Jimmy Buffet concert at Toyota Park.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. and is expected to last until approximately 11 p.m.
Concert attendees can take the Orange Line to Midway and connect to Toyota Park Express buses. The Toyota Park shuttle buses are operated by Pace; therefore, a transfer fee will be charged for customers transferring from Orange Line trains or CTA buses. Those not transferring from CTA will need to pay a $1.25 fare to board the shuttle buses.
Toyota Park Express buses operate every 20 minutes beginning two hours before the concert begins. Following the event, shuttle buses will operate every 30 minutes from the venue to the Midway station.
New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
#22 Clark Buses Detoured This Weekend for the Celebrate Clark Street Festival
From midnight Saturday morning, July 23 until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 24, #22 Clark buses will be rerouted due to the closure of Clark Street between Morse and Touhy for the annual Celebrate Clark Street Festival.
During this time, northbound #22 buses will travel over the regular route along Clark to Morse then will operate via Morse, Ashland, Touhy then return to Clark and resume the regular route. Southbound buses will travel the reverse route.
Wicker Park Fest Detours #56 Milwaukee Buses This Weekend
From 1 a.m. Saturday, July 23 until approximately 5 a.m. Monday, July 25, #56 Milwaukee buses will be detoured due to the closure of Milwaukee Avenue between Wood and North Avenue for the annual Wicker Park Fest.
Southbound #56 buses will travel over the regular route along Milwaukee to Damen then will operate via Damen, Division to Milwaukee and then resume the regular route. Northbound #56 buses will travel the reverse route.
Annual 16th Ward Music Festival Detours #63 63rd Buses This Weekend
From 6 a.m. Saturday, July 23 until approximately 1 a.m. Monday, July 25, #63 63rd buses will be detoured due to the closure of 63rd Street between Halsted and Morgan for the annual 16th Ward Music Festival.
Eastbound #63 buses will operate over the regular route along 63rd Street to Racine then will travel via Racine, 59th Street, Halsted to 63rd Street and then resume the regular route. Westbound #63 buses will travel the reverse route.
Disability Pride Parade Detours 11 Downtown Bus Routes on Saturday
Eleven CTA bus routes will be temporarily rerouted in the downtown area from9:30 a.m. until approximately 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, due to the annual Disability Pride Parade. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. and will proceed north on Van Buren to Daley Plaza.
Buses operating along the following routes will be temporarily detoured to adjacent streets during the parade procession to maintain service:

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Clark/Adams
From 5 a.m. Monday, July 25 until approximately 5 a.m. Monday, August 8, the southbound far side stop at Clark/Adams will be relocated to a near side stop at Jackson/Clark due to ADA ramp work on Clark at Adams. This stop is served by #22 Clark, #24 Wentworth and #129 West Loop/South Loop (PM Rush service only) buses.
Annual Fiesta del Sol Festival Detours Two Routes Beginning Next Week
From 10 a.m. Monday, July 25 until approximately noon on Monday, August 1, #21 Cermak and #60 Blue Island/26th buses will be detoured due to the closure of Cermak Road between Morgan and Loomis for the annual Fiesta del Sol Festival.
Eastbound #21 buses will travel over the regular route along Cermak to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 18th Street, Halsted to Cermak and then resume the regular route. Westbound #21 buses will travel the reverse route.
Eastbound #60 buses will operate over the regular route along Blue Island to Ashland then will travel via Ashland, 18th Street to Blue Island and then resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will travel the reverse route.
Relocation of AM Rush Period Bus Stop at Adams/Wacker
Effective at the start of service on Tuesday, July 26, the westbound near side stop at Adams/Wacker will be relocated to a near side stop at Franklin/Adams due to traffic congestion along Adams. This bus stop change only affects AM (morning) rush period service along the #121 Union/Wacker Express and #123 Illinois Center/Wacker Express routes.
Changes to Bus Stops Effective Tuesday, July 26
Effective at the start of service on Tuesday, July 26, the following bus stop changes will go into effect along the #62 Archer and #126 Jackson routes:
#62 Archer
- State/Kinzie: the southbound far side stop will be removed from service.
#126 Jackson
- Jackson/Sangamon: the eastbound far side stop will be returned to service.
Ongoing Bus Service Changes
Sewer Construction Project at 63rd Street/Damen Detours Two Bus Routes
Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, August 5, southbound #48 South Damen and westbound #63 63rd buses are being detoured due to the closure of the intersection at 63rd Street/Damen for a sewer construction project.
Southbound #48 buses are operating over the regular route along 59th Street to Damen then are traveling via Damen, Ashland, 67th Street to Damen and then resuming the regular route. Northbound #48 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
Westbound #63 buses are traveling over the regular route along 63rd Street to Ashland then are operating via Ashland, 67th Street, Western to 63rd Street and then resuming the regular route. Eastbound #63 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
Water Department Project on Madison Detours Two Westbound Bus Routes
Currently in effect until approximately 6 a.m. Monday, September 12, westbound #19 United Center Express and #20 Madison buses are being routed due to a Water Department project on Madison between LaSalle and Franklin that is expected to result in heavy traffic congestion.
Westbound #19 and #20 buses will instead travel along Madison to LaSalle then will operate via LaSalle, Randolph, Clinton to Madison and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #19 and #20 buses are not affected and will travel over their regular routes.
(NOTE: this reroute supersedes the reroute previously in place for westbound #19 and #20 buses as part of the Stage II Wacker Drive detours)
Repairs to Bridge Detour #111 Pullman/111th/115th Buses
Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, September 30, #111 Pullman/111th/115th buses are being detoured from Cottage Grove between 98th Street and 100th Place due to bridge repair work.
Southbound #111 buses are traveling over the regular route along 95th Street to King Drive then operating via King Drive, 100th Street to Cottage Grove and resuming the regular route. Northbound #111 buses are traveling the reverse route.
Near North Farmer’s Market Detours #36 Broadway and #70 Division Buses
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 29, #36 Broadway and #70 Division buses will be detoured due to the closure of Division Street between State and Clark for the Near North Farmer’s Market.
Southbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route along Clark past Division to Maple then will operate via Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route along State to Elm then will travel via Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.
Eastbound #70 buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then will operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound #70 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.
Construction Detours #20 Madison and #90 Harlem Buses Until December
Currently in effect until Friday, December 2, eastbound #20 Madison (Owl service) buses and #90 Harlem buses are being detoured due to the closure of North Boulevard and South Boulevard between Marion and Home for a construction project.
Eastbound #20 (Owl service) buses are operating over the regular route along Harlem past North Boulevard to Washington then are traveling via Washington, Maple, Randolph, Harlem to Lake and resuming the regular route. Westbound #20 (Owl service) buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
Southbound #90 buses are traveling over the regular route along Harlem past North Boulevard to Washington then are operating via Washington, Maple, Randolph, Harlem to Harlem/South Boulevard before beginning northbound service. From Harlem/South Boulevard, northbound #90 buses are traveling north on Harlem over the regular route.
Lane Restrictions near State and Grand Detour #29 State and #36 Broadway Buses
Due to lane restrictions associated with the Grand Red Line rehabilitation project at the northwest corner of State and Grand, #29 State and #36 Broadway buses are being detoured to adjacent streets until further notice.
Southbound #29 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand past State to Clark then traveling via Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #29 buses are traveling along the remaining open lane along State and over the regular route.
Southbound #36 buses are traveling over the regular route along State to Ontario then are operating via Ontario, Clark, Illinois to State and resuming the regular route. Northbound #36 buses are operating over the regular route along Dearborn past Illinois to Ohio then traveling via Ohio to State and resuming the regular route.
Changes in Service along #8 Halsted Route for Bridge Reconstruction Project
Currently in effect until late-December 2011, Halsted Street between Division and the north branch of the Chicago River is closed due to a bridge reconstruction project.
Northbound #8 Halsted buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted past Chicago to North Branch then are operating via North Branch, Cherry, Division to Halsted and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #8 buses are traveling the reverse route.
Changes to Bus Stops
- Halsted/North Branch: the northbound far side stop on Halsted has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop on North Branch at Halsted.
- Halsted/Division: the southbound far side stop has been temporarily relocated to a near side stop.
Service Changes to 14 Downtown Bus Routes for Stage II of Wacker Drive Project
Currently in effect, changes in service have been made to 14 CTA bus routes that operate in the downtown area near Wacker Drive and Madison due to work associated with Stage II of the Wacker Drive construction project.
Construction on Wacker Drive will result in changes along the following routes:

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project
Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, Franklin Street between Harrison and Van Buren and Lower Wacker Drive between Randolph and Harrison are closed until May 2012. As a result of these closures and other street reconfigurations, the following changes in bus service currently are in effect:
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are traveling over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then are operating via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and resuming the regular route. Southbound #11 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
The following temporary changes also have been made to bus stops served by northbound #11 buses:
- Canal/Harrison: a far side stop has been added to service.
- Canal/Jackson: a near side stop has been added to service.
- Jackson at the Chicago River: a near side stop has been added to service.
- 404 W. Harrison: the mid-block stop has been removed from service.
- Franklin/Van Buren: the far side stop has been removed from service.
#121 Union/Wacker Express
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
Southbound #121 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand to Wabash then traveling via Wabash, Wacker, Franklin to Adams and then resuming the regular route.
#135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express buses are traveling south on Wacker to Jackson then are traveling east on Jackson past Franklin and resuming the regular route.
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #135 buses:
- Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
- Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
#136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #136 Sheridan/LaSalle buses are operating south on Wacker to Van Buren then are traveling via Van Buren, Canal to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #136 buses:
- Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
- Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
#156 LaSalle (PM Service Only)
During the evening rush period only, northbound #156 LaSalle buses departing from Union Station are traveling west on Van Buren to Wacker then are operating via Wacker to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
The following temporary bus stop change has been made and is in effect for northbound #156 buses during the evening rush period only:
- Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
Relocation of #36 Broadway Bus Stop Due to Nearby Construction
Currently in effect until Friday, July 12, 2013, the southbound near side stop at Broadway/Elmdale served by #36 Broadway buses has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
