Single Track in Effect on Purple Line Over Weekend

A single track will be in effect on the Purple Line between the Howard and South Blvd. stations from 8 p.m. Friday, July 14 until 2 a.m. Monday, July 17, due to the installation of new track as part of the rehabilitation of Howard station. Purple Line customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Northbound Purple Line customers boarding at Howard station must board from the west platform instead of the east platform as is the norm.

During weekend hours, southbound Purple Line customers boarding at South Blvd. station and traveling to Howard will board and exit trains as usual.

Red Line - Dan Ryan Branch Rehabilitation:

CTA is working to replace track, power and signal systems and upgrade stations along the branch. When the work is completed, customers will experience more reliable service and modern station amenities.

Single Tracks in Effect on Red Line Over Weekend

A single track will be in effect from 8 p.m. Friday, July 14 until 8 a.m. Saturday, July 15 between 45th and 63rd. South and northbound customers boarding at Garfield and 47th stations must board on the west side of the platform.

From 8 p.m. Saturday, July 15 until 4 a.m. Sunday, July 16, a single track will be in effect between 45th and 63rd. North and southbound customers boarding at 47th and Garfield stations must board on the east side of the platform.

From 4 a.m. until noon Sunday, July 16 a single track will be in effect between Garfield and 63rd. North and southbound customers boarding at the Garfield station must board on the east side of the platform.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Tracks in Effect on Red Line Next Week

A single track will be in effect between 69th and 79th from 11 p.m. Monday, July 17 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, and again in the same location, during the same hours Tuesday night July 18.

During those hours, north and southbound customers boarding at the 69th station must board on the west side of the platform.

A single track will be in effect between 79th and 87th from 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 until 4 a.m. Thursday July 20. North and southbound customers boarding at the 79th station must board on the west side of the platform.

A single track will be in effect between 69th and 79th from 11 p.m. Thursday, July 20 to 4 a.m., Friday July 21. North and southbound customers boarding at the 69th station must board on the east side of the platform.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Blue Line Signal Upgrade:

CTA is working to upgrade approximately 20 miles of the existing 40-year-old train control system and power supply equipment from the Forest Park terminal of the Blue Line Forest Park branch through the Dearborn subway to the Jefferson Park station of the Blue Line O'Hare branch.

These systems ensure the safe operation and movement of trains, and the appropriate speed and distance between trains as well as help CTA personnel manage rail service in the event of an emergency.

The upgraded signal system will result in improved reliability of service for Blue Line customers, and also includes upgrades to the power cables and communication system needed to connect the Red Line State Street subway and Blue Line Dearborn Street subway as part of the Block 37 project.

Single Tracks in Effect on Blue Line Forest Park Branch Over Weekend

A three-phase single track will be in effect between the Forest Park and Austin stations this weekend. From 10 p.m. Friday, July 14 until 2 a.m. Saturday, July 15, the single track will be in effect between the Forest Park and Harlem stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Forest Park and Harlem stations must board on the south side of the platform.

From 2 a.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday, July 15 the single track will be in effect between Lombard and Forest Park. North and southbound customers boarding at the Oak Park, Harlem and Forest Park stations must board on the south side of the platform.

From 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15 the single track will be in effect between the Forest Park and Harlem stations. North and southbound customers boarding at the Forest Park and Harlem stations must board on the south side of the platform.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line O'Hare Branch Saturday

A single track will be in effect between Montrose and Irving Park from 11 p.m. Saturday, July 15 until 10 a.m. Sunday, July 16. North and southbound customers boarding at the Irving Park station must board on the west side of the platform.

Single Track in Effect on Brown Line Sunday

A two-phase single track will be in effect between Huron and Cleveland on Sunday, July 16. From 7 a.m. until noon the single track will be in effect between the Sedgwick and Chicago stations. North and southbound customers boarding at Sedgwick must board on the south platform and customers boarding at Chicago must board on the west platform.

From 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., the single track will be in effect in the same location, however north and southbound customers boarding at Sedgwick must board on the north platform and customers boarding at Chicago must board on the east platform.

Single Track on Orange Line Next WeekA single track will be in effect on the Orange Line between Ashland and Halsted from 9 p.m. Monday, July 17 to 4 a.m. Tuesday, July 18 and again in the same location, during the same hours on Tuesday night and Wednesday night. North and southbound customers boarding at the Halsted station must board on south side of the platform.

Austin Closed for Church Carnival Over Weekend

Austin is closed at 61st Street for the Saint Symphorosa Church Carnival until 6 a.m. Sunday, July 16. Westbound #55 A 55th/Austin buses are operating via Austin, 61st, Meade, then resuming the regular route. Eastbound buses are operating via Austin, 63rd, Mayfield, 61st, back to Austin, then resuming the regular route.

63rd Street Closed for Construction Work

63rd Street is closed between Emerald and Union until further notice for construction work. #63 63rd buses are operating around the closures in both directions via Halsted, back to 63rd, then resuming the regular route.

Kedzie Bus Terminal Temporarily Closes for Construction Work through July 21

Beginning Friday, July 14 at 9 a.m., the Kedzie bus terminal at 36th Street will temporarily close for repairs until 5 a.m. Friday, July 21. Customers wishing to board or exit the terminal must board or exit #35 35th buses at Kedzie and 36th Street.

Reroutes due to Bring It On Home To Me Roots Festival Friday and Saturday

The #3 King Drive and the Bring It on Home to Me Roots Festival starting Friday, July 14 at 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 15. #3 King Drive buses will operate in both directions via King, 48th, Prairie, 46th and back to King to resume the regular route.

#47-47th buses will operate in both directions via 47th to Prairie, 46th, St. Lawrence and back to 47th to resume the regular route.

Jackson Closed between LaSalle and Wells this Weekend

Jackson will be closed between LaSalle and Wells from 7 p.m. Friday, July 14 until noon Sunday, July 16. Eastbound #7 Harrison, #X28 Stony Island Express, #151 Sheridan and the #156 LaSalle buses will be rerouted via Jackson, Franklin, Monroe, Clark to Jackson to resume the regular route. There is no westbound service on Jackson.

Lincoln Closes for Rock Around the Block Festival Saturday

Lincoln will be closed between Addison and Roscoe from 4 a.m. Saturday, July 15 until midnight Sunday, July 16. #11 Lincoln buses will operate in both directions via Addison, Ashland and Lincoln, then resume the regular route.

Additional Service Provided for Lakefront Pavilion Sunday

The #130 Grant Park Treasures will provide additional service for customers traveling to the Phil Lesh and Friends concert at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island Sunday, July 16. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

The #130 will operate from Metra's LaSalle Street station, and Ogilvie and Union stations 30 minutes before the concert and will depart Northerly Island until 30 minutes after the concert. The #130 operates in both directions between the Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station to the Museum Campus on weekends and holidays through Labor Day.

Cermak and Wentworth Closed due to Chinatown Summer Fair Sunday

The 200 block of West Cermak and South Wentworth from the 2200 to the 2500 block are closed from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday July 16 for the Chinatown Summer Fair.

#18 16/18 buses will operate in both directions via Cermak, Archer, Clark, Cermak, Red Line station, and Cermak to continue the regular route.

#21 Cermak buses will operate in both directions via Cermak, Archer, Clark, Cermak, to continue the regular route.

Diversey to Close due to Sewer Construction Monday and Tuesday

The westbound lanes on Diversey at Springfield will be closed due to sewer work from 7 a.m. Monday, July 17 until 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 18. The #76 Diversey will operate via Diversey to Central Park, Milwaukee, Belmont, Pulaski, back to Diversey to resume the regular route. Eastbound #76 Diversey will be unaffected.
