Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of February 11 - 13

Michigan Avenue Bridge over the Chicago River Closes for Repairs Beginning TonightThe Michigan Avenue bridge over the Chicago River will be closed from 11 p.m. Thursday, February 10 until 5 a.m. Friday, February 11. Northbound #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #146 Marine/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses will operate in both directions via Michigan, Wacker, State, Ohio, back to Michigan, then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will operate via Michigan, Ontario, State, Lake, back to Michigan, then resume the regular route.

CTA Provides Convenient Service to the Chicago Auto ShowThree accessible Chicago Transit Authority bus routes will provide service to the 2005 Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place South from Friday, February 11 through Sunday, February 20 at all hours the show is open. Service to McCormick Place will begin approximately one hour before the show opens and operate until one hour after the show ends each day.

Buses will operate to McCormick Place directly from Metra stations west of the Loop, from downtown, from North Michigan Avenue, and from the South and West Sides. Customers can transfer to these buses from other bus routes and from all 'L' and subway lines serving downtown.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line over the WeekendDue to the rehabilitation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect northbound between 55th and 45th Streets from 8 p.m. Friday, February 11 until 8 a.m. Saturday, February 12 and again northbound between 45th and 33rd Streets from 8 p.m. Saturday, February 12 until noon Sunday, February 13. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Monday through Next WednesdaySingle track service will be in effect northbound between 69th and 63rd Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday night, February 14 through Wednesday night, February 16. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Lake Red Line Subway Station Temporarily Closes for RenovationsThe Lake Street subway station on the Red Line will be temporarily closed from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights, and from 9 p.m. Fridays through 5 a.m. Mondays beginning Friday, February 11 and lasting until late summer 2005. During these hours trains will not stop at this station. Customers are encouraged to use the adjacent Red Line subway station at Washington and to allow extra travel time.

Polk Street Station Platform and Stairway Temporarily Close for Repairs Beginning SaturdayThe southbound platform and stairway at the Polk Street station on the 54th/Cermak branch of the Blue Line will be temporarily closed from 2 a.m. Saturday, February 12 until 4 a.m. Monday, February 14 while new stairs are installed. As a result, southbound trains will not stop at Polk. Customers traveling to Polk are encouraged to travel to 18th and transfer to a northbound train back to Polk. Southbound customers may board northbound trains at Polk and travel one stop north to Racine and transfer to a southbound 54th/Cermak train. Northbound service will not be affected.

Armitage Station Platform and Stairway Temporarily Close for Maintenance on SundayThe northbound platform and stairway at the Armitage station on the Brown Line will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, February 13. As a result, northbound trains will not stop at Armitage. Customers traveling north to Armitage are encouraged to travel to Fullerton and transfer to a southbound train back to Armitage. Southbound service will not be affected.

Michigan and South Water Close for Helicopter Lift Sunday MorningA helicopter lift at 307 North Michigan will close Michigan between Wacker and Lake, and South Water between Wabash and Stetson from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday, February 13. #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #124 Navy Pier, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses will be rerouted to adjacent streets for the duration of the lift.

Two CTA Bus Routes to Detour for Chinese New Year Parade SundayThe Chinese New Year Parade will detour two CTA bus routes serving the Chinatown neighborhood beginning at noon Sunday, February 13. #18 16th/18th buses will operate via Cermak, Archer, Clark, to the Cermak-Chinatown station on the Red Line, where they will begin westbound trips.

Eastbound #21 Cermak buses will operate via Cermak, Archer, Clark, back to Cermak, then resume the regular route.

57th Street Bridge over the Dan Ryan Expressway Closes for Reconstruction Beginning MondayThe 57th Street bridge over the Dan Ryan Expressway will be closed from 6 a.m. Monday, February 14 through Monday, August 1, 2005. Eastbound #59 59th/61st buses will operate via 59th, Wentworth, 55th, Wells, Princeton, back to 59th, then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will operate via State, 59th, Wentworth, 55th, Wells, Princeton, back to 59th, then resume the regular route.

LaSalle Street Closed for Water Main WorkLaSalle Street is closed northbound between 32nd and 33rd Streets weekdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. now through Monday, February 28. Northbound #24 Wentworth buses are operating via LaSalle, 33rd, State, 31st, back to LaSalle, then resuming the regular route. Southbound service is not affected.
