Blue Line – Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track Operation between Clark/Lake and Damen

From 10:30 p.m. Friday, February 10 until 6 a.m. the following morning, all late night Blue Line trains will be routed to operate on the northbound (to O’Hare) tracks between the Clark/Lake and Damen stations, as crews grout and paint tunnel walls at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations.
 
Southbound (to Forest Park) customers at the Division, Chicago and Grand stations must board and exit trains from the northbound (to O’Hare) side of the platform.
 
Saturday Night – Affecting Northbound (to O’Hare) Trains
From 10 p.m. Saturday, February 11 until 6 a.m. the following morning, northbound (to O’Hare) customers at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.
 
Sunday Night – Affecting Southbound (to Forest Park) Trains
From 10 p.m. Sunday, February 12 until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound (to Forest Park) customers at the Division, Chicago and Grand stations must board and exit trains from the northbound (to O’Hare) side of the platform.
 
Monday and Wednesday Nights – Affecting Northbound (to O’Hare) Trains
From 10:30 p.m. Monday, February 13 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 15 until 4 a.m. the following morning, northbound (to O’Hare) customers at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations must board and exit trains from the southbound (to Forest Park) side of the platform.  
 
Tuesday and Thursday Nights – Affecting Southbound (to Forest Park) Trains
From 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 14 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 10:30 p.m. Thursday, February 16 until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound (to Forest Park) customers at the Division, Chicago and Grand stations must board and exit trains from the northbound (to O’Hare) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
 

Brown Line – Events Affecting Service

Daytime Closure of Auxiliary Entrance to the Chicago Station Early Next Week

The Superior Street auxiliary entrance/exit to the southbound (to the Loop) Chicago Brown Line station will be temporarily closed from 10:40 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day beginning Wednesday, February 15 through Friday, February 17, while crews replace platform decking.
 
During these times, customers will be directed to access the Chicago station using the main entrance located along Chicago Avenue.
 

Red Line – Events Affecting Service

Late Night Single Track Operation between Cermak-Chinatown and Grand

All late night Red Line trains will be routed to operate on the southbound (to 95th/Dan Ryan) tracks between the Grand and Cermak-Chinatown stations from 11 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Sunday night, February 12 through Friday morning, February 17, due to subway sewer cleaning work.
 
Northbound (to Howard) customers at the Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe and Lake stations must board and exit trains from the southbound (to 95th/Dan Ryan) side of the platform.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. 
 

Special Event Service Details

#19 United Center Express Service to the United Center

CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express for those attending the following events at the United Center next week:
 
  • Tuesday, February 14 at 7 p.m. – Sacramento Kings versus Bulls
  • Thursday, February 16 at 7 p.m. – Boston Celtics versus Bulls
  • Saturday, February 18 at 3 p.m. – New Jersey Nets versus Bulls
  • Sunday, February 19 at 2 p.m. – St. Louis Blues versus Blackhawks
 
Buses will leave every 12-15 minutes from Michigan and Randolph beginning 90 minutes before the start of each event. After each event, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3 and will depart approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.
 

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service

Temporary Weekend Detour of #151 Sheridan Buses Near Union Station

From 8 a.m. Saturday, February 11 until approximately 5 a.m. Monday, February 13, #151 Sheridan buses will be detoured due to the closure of the bus lane on Adams between Clinton and Canal for fiber optic installation work.
 
Southbound #151 buses will travel over the regular route along Clinton past Adams to Jackson then will operate via Jackson to Canal before beginning northbound service. From Jackson/Canal, northbound #151 buses will travel east on Jackson over the regular route.
 

Ongoing Bus Service Changes 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Stony Island/68th Street

Currently in effect until further notice, the southbound near side stop located at Stony Island/68th Street has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop. This stop is served by #28 Stony Island and #X28 Stony Island Express buses.
 

Temporary Reroute in Effect for #24 Wentworth Buses Operating to 87th/Racine

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Friday, February 24, #24 Wentworth buses operating to 87th/Racine are being detoured due to the closure of Vincennes Avenue between 84th Street and Givins for sewer repair work.
 
Southbound #24 buses (operating to 87th/Racine) are traveling over the regular route along Vincennes to 83rd Street then are operating via 83rd Street, Princeton, Holland, 87th Street and are resuming the regular route west on 87th Street past Vincennes. Northbound #24 buses are traveling the reverse route.

 

Sewer Work Near 87th Street/Buffalo Detours Eastbound #87 87th Buses

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, February 29, eastbound #87 87th buses are being detoured due to the closure of S. Buffalo Avenue between 87th and 88th streets for sewer work.
 
Eastbound #87 buses are traveling over the regular route along 87th Street to Buffalo then are operating via 87th Street, Mackinaw, 89th Street to Buffalo and then resume the regular route. Westbound #87 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 

#8 Halsted and #132 Goose Island Express Buses Detoured for Bridge Work

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Monday, April 30, #8 Halsted and #132 Goose Island Express buses are being detoured due to the closure of the North Halsted Bridge over the north branch of the Chicago River for repair work.
 
Northbound #8 buses are traveling over the regular route along Halsted to Chicago then are operating via Chicago, Larrabee, Division to Halsted and then resuming the regular route. Southbound #8 buses are traveling the reverse route.
 
Southbound #132 buses are operating over the regular route along North Branch to Division then are traveling via Division, Larrabee, Chicago to Halsted and then resuming the regular route. Northbound #132 buses are operating over the regular route along Halsted to Chicago then are traveling via Chicago, Larrabee, Division to Cherry and then resuming the regular route.
 

Service Adjustments Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project

Due to the Congress/Wacker Construction Project, Franklin Street between Harrison and Van Buren and Lower Wacker Drive between Randolph and Harrison are closed until May. As a result of these closures and other street reconfigurations, the following changes in bus service currently are in effect: 
 
#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick
Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses are traveling over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then are operating via Canal, Jackson to Franklin and resuming the regular route. Southbound #11 buses are not affected and are traveling over the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes also have been made to bus stops served by northbound #11 buses:
 
  • Canal/Harrison: a far side stop has been added to service.
  • Canal/Jackson: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Jackson at the Chicago River: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • 404 W. Harrison: the mid-block stop has been removed from service.
  • Franklin/Van Buren: the far side stop has been removed from service.
 
#121 Union/Wacker Express
Northbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses are operating over the regular route along Jackson past Wacker to Franklin then are traveling via Franklin, Lake, Post Place to Lower Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
 
Southbound #121 buses are operating over the regular route along Grand to Wabash then traveling via Wabash, Wacker, Franklin to Adams and then resuming the regular route.
 
#135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express buses are traveling south on Wacker to Jackson then are traveling east on Jackson past Franklin and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #135 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
From Union Station, northbound #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express buses are operating south on Wacker to Van Buren then are traveling via Van Buren, Canal to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary changes have been made to bus stops served by northbound #136 buses:
 
  • Jackson/Franklin: a near side stop has been added to service.
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 
#156 LaSalle (PM Service Only)
During the evening rush period only, northbound #156 LaSalle buses departing from Union Station are traveling west on Van Buren to Wacker then are operating via Wacker to Jackson and resuming the regular route.
 
The following temporary bus stop change has been made and is in effect for northbound #156 buses during the evening rush period only: 
 
  • Franklin/Jackson: the near side stop has been removed from service.
 

Temporary Removal of #29 State Bus Stop at State/Pershing

Currently in effect until Friday, June 1, the southbound far side stop at State/Pershing has been removed from service due to nearby construction work. Customers are advised to board southbound #29 buses one block south at 40th Street.
 

Wacker Drive Stage III Work Affecting 18 Downtown CTA Bus Routes

Currently in effect, 18 CTA bus routes that operate in the downtown area near Adams and Monroe streets at Wacker Drive are operating under temporary service changes, due to work associated with Stage III of the Wacker Drive construction project.
 
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time along these routes:

#129 West Loop/South Loop (PM Service Only)
#14 Jeffery Express
#130 Museum Campus (Operates Mid-May – Labor Day)

With the re-opening of Madison Street at Wacker Drive, #19 United Center Express, #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee and #122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express buses have returned to their original routing.

Temporary Removal of Bus Stop at Archer/Cicero

Currently in effect until approximately 4 p.m. Monday, June 6, the southbound far side bus stop at Archer/Cicero will be temporarily removed from service due to the demolition of a nearby building. This stop is currently served by #62 Archer and #62H Archer/Harlem buses.
 
During this time, customers can board southbound #62 buses at the existing near side stop at Archer/Cicero. Southbound #62H buses will serve the existing stop located at Archer/Lamon.
 

Temporary Relocation of #72 North Avenue Bus Stop

Currently in effect until approximately 6 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2013, the westbound near side stop at North Avenue/Washtenaw has been relocated to a far side stop. This stop is served by #72 North Avenue buses.
 

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop at Lake Park/53rd Street

Currently in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, the southbound near side stop at Lake Park/53rd Street has been temporarily relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction work. This stop is served by #6 Jackson Park Express, #X28 Stony Island Express and #171 U of C/Hyde Park buses.
 

Relocation of #36 Broadway Bus Stop Due to Nearby Construction

Currently in effect until Friday, July 12, 2013, the southbound near side stop at Broadway/Elmdale served by #36 Broadway buses has been relocated to a far side stop due to nearby construction.
 

Removal of Bus Stop Change Affects Five Routes

Currently in effect until Thursday, August 1, 2013, the mid-block bus stop located at 5800 South Stony Island has been temporarily removed due to construction. This stop is served by the #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jackson Park Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island and #X28 Stony Island Express buses.
