Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning the Weekend of August 12 - 14

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line over the WeekendDue to track maintenance on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect northbound between 69th and Garfield from 8 p.m. Friday, August 12 until 8 a.m. Saturday, August 13. Single track service will be in effect northbound between 63rd and 45th Streets from 8 p.m. Saturday,August 13 until noon Sunday, August 14.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next WeekSingle track service will be in effect northbound between 63rd and Garfield from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Monday night, August 15 and Tuesday night, August 16 and southbound in the same location during the same hours Wednesday night, August 17 and Thursday night, August 18.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Dearborn Subway Branch of the Blue Line for Subway Sewer Cleaning Friday and SaturdaySingle track service will be in effect southbound between Grand and LaSalle from 10 p.m. Friday, August 12 until 6 a.m. Saturday, August 13 and again from 10 p.m. Saturday, August 13 until 6 a.m. Sunday, August 14.

Maintenance Temporarily Closes Northbound Red Line Platform over the WeekendPlatform maintenance will temporarily close the northbound platform at the Garfield station on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, August 13 and from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday, August 14. As a result northbound customers who wish to exit at Garfield will need to travel to 47th and transfer to southbound trains back to Garfield.

Chicago and Kedzie Closed for Sewer Repairs Chicago Avenue is closed between Kedzie and Sacramento until 5 p.m. Saturday, August 20. #52 Kedzie/California buses are operating in both directions via Kedzie, Grand, Chicago, then resuming the regular route.

#66 Chicago buses are operating in both directions via Chicago, Kedzie, Grand, back to Chicago, then resuming the regular route.

Additional Service Provided for Concerts at Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island Friday and SaturdayAdditional service will be provided on the #130 Grant Park Treasures bus route following the Rock Never Stops concert featuring Cinderella, Ratt, Quiet Riot and Fire House at 7 p.m. Friday, August 12. Service will operate from the concert every few minutes to the Ogilvie Transportation Center until 30 minutes after the concert ends.

Additional service will be provided on the #130 Grant Park Treasures bus route for the Kelly Clarkson concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, August 13. Service will operate to the concert every 15 - 20 minutes until 7:35 p.m. from the Ogilvie Transportation Center with return trips operating back to Ogilvie every few minutes until 30 minutes after the concert ends.

Additional Service Provided for Bud Billiken Parade SaturdayThe Chicago Transit Authority is a great travel option for spectators attending the annual Bud Billiken Parade Saturday, August 13. Additional service will be provided on bus routes operating close to the parade venue. There also will be longer trains operating on the Green Line.

In addition to extra service, CTA will be rerouting some buses around the immediate parade area.

King Drive will be closed between 35th and Garfield beginning at 7 a.m. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and run until approximately 4 p.m. before disbanding in Washington Park. Detours may begin as early as 6 a.m. at the direction of the Chicago Police Department based on traffic volume in the area. King Drive is expected to remain closed until late Saturday afternoon.

Devon Closes for Pakistan Independence Day Parade SundayDevon will be closed between Damen and Western from noon until 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 14 for the Pakistan Independence Day Parade. #155 Devon buses will operate in both directions via Devon, California, Lunt, Ridge, back to Devon, then resume the regular route.

Late Night Single Track on Red Line Sunday NightDue to track maintenance on the north end of the Red Line, single track service will be in effect southbound between Addison and Belmont from 8:30 p.m. Sunday, August 14 until 4 a.m. Monday, August 15.

Overnight Track Maintenance Temporarily Closes Two Northbound Red Line Platforms Beginning SundayTrack maintenance on the north end of the Red Line will take place from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. each night from Sunday night, August 14 through Thursday night, August 18. As a result, northbound trains will not stop at the Morse and Jarvis stations. During these hours, customers who wish to exit at those stations will need to travel to the Howard station and transfer to southbound trains back to those stations.

Michigan Avenue Bridge over the Bishop Ford Freeway Closes for Reconstruction Beginning MondayThe Michigan Avenue bridge over the Bishop Ford Freeway will be closed from 5 a.m. Monday, August 15 through Friday, December 30. #34 South Michigan, #103 West 103rd, #106 East 103rd and #119 Michigan/119th buses will operate in both directions via Michigan, 100th, King, 99th, back to Michigan, then resume the regular route.

Main Street Closes for Purple Line Viaduct Repairs Beginning MondayMain Street in Evanston will be closed at the Purple Line viaduct from 6 a.m. Monday, August 15 until late October. #200 Main Shuttle buses will operate in both directions via Main, Ridge, Greenleaf, Chicago, back to Main, then resume the regular route.

Bus Terminal at North Avenue Beach Temporarily Closes for the Air and Water Show Beginning MondayThe bus terminal at North Avenue Beach will temporarily be closed beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, August 15 for set-up of the annual Air and Water Show next weekend. The terminal will remain closed until 3 p.m. Monday, August 22. #72 North buses will use the bus terminal at North/Clark during this time.

Kiss & Ride Drop-Off / Pick-Up Point Temporarily Closed for Reconstruction The CTA is constructing a new Park & Ride facility adjacent to the Harlem station on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line. During the first two weeks of construction, the drive in front of the station often used as a drop-off and pick-up point to the station will be closed. The drive will re-open in mid-August while the construction on the Park & Ride lot continues.

Racine Closed for Street Reconstruction Racine is closed between Arthington and Roosevelt from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays until Thursday, September 1. #60 Blue Island/ 26th buses are operating in both directions via Roosevelt, Loomis to Harrison, then resuming the regular route.

State Street Closed for Sewer WorkState Street is closed northbound only between 91st and 87th Streets weekdays from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. through Friday, September 2. Northbound #29 State buses are operating via State, 91st, Indiana, 88th, back to State, then resuming the regular route. Southbound service is not affected.

Division Closes for Farmers Market on Saturdays through October 22Division will be closed between State and Clark for the Near North Farmers Market from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. each Saturday through October 22. Southbound #36 Broadway buses will operate via Division, Clark, Maple to State, then resume the regular route. Northbound buses will operate via State, Elm back to Clark, then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will operate via Division, Clark, Maple to Dearborn, then resume the regular route. Westbound service will not be affected.

33rd Street Entrance at Sox-35th Red Line Station Temporarily Closed for Renovation As part of the ongoing renovation of the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line, the 33rd Street entrance is closed until late October of this year. Customers are encouraged to use the 35th Street entrance to the station while the work is completed.

Viaduct Reconstruction Causes Reroute Due to the reconstruction of the viaduct at 130th/Indiana, #34 South Michigan buses are being detoured through Tuesday, November 1. #34 buses are operating in both directions via Michigan, 115th, Bishop Ford Freeway, 130th to Eberhardt, then resuming the regular route.

Additionally, for customers who need to travel south of 115th/Michigan, a shuttle bus is operating in both directions on Michigan between 111th and 127th Streets. Customers may board the shuttle buses on Michigan at any bus stop between 111th and 127th Streets.

26th Street Closed for Railroad Viaduct Repairs 26th Street is closed between Kostner and Ogden until Tuesday, November 1. #60 Blue Island/26th buses are operating in both directions via 26th, Kostner, Ogden, back to 26th, then resuming the regular route.

Lake Red Line Subway Entrance Temporarily Closed for RenovationsThe Lake Street station entrance to the Red Line is temporarily closed and is available as an exit only until late summer. Customers are encouraged to use the adjacent Red Line subway station entrance at Washington.

Trains continue to stop at the Lake Street subway station during all hours.Customers who wish to exit at the north end of the Lake station should walk north and use the newly renovated stairway. They also may enter and exit at the Randolph/Washington exit at the south end of the station.
