Directions to the Start of the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon in Grant Park Sunday, October 22, 2006

  • From the North Michigan Avenue area:
    Take a southbound 95th/Dan Ryan Red Line train from Grand/State or Chicago/State (accessible) to Jackson (accessible). Exit the subway station and walk two blocks east on Jackson to Grant Park. (Red Line trains run every 8-15 minutes, 24 hours per day.)
    or
    Take a southbound #3 King Drive or #151 Sheridan bus on Michigan Avenue. Exit the bus at Monroe and walk east to Grant Park. (Buses run every 15-25 minutes.)
  • From the North Side:
    Take a southbound 95th/Dan Ryan Red Line train to Jackson (accessible). Exit the subway station and walk two blocks east on Jackson to Grant Park. (Red Line trains run every 8-15 minutes, 24 hours per day.)
  • From the Northwest Side:
    Take a southbound Forest Park Blue Line train to Jackson (accessible). Exit the subway station and walk three blocks east on Jackson to Grant Park. (Blue Line trains run every 10-15 minutes, 24 hours per day.)
    or
    Take a southbound Belmont Brown Line train (Brown Line trains run every 10 minutes) and transfer at Belmont to a southbound 95th/Dan Ryan Red Line train (Red Line trains run every 8-15 minutes, 24 hours per day) to Jackson (accessible). Exit the subway station and walk two blocks east on Jackson to Grant Park. (Note: On Sunday Race Day, the first Brown Line train leaves Kedzie (accessible) for the Loop at 6:47 a.m. and reaches the downtown Loop at 7:22 a.m. Prior to that, Brown Line trains operate only between Kedzie (accessible) and Belmont stations. Brown Line service at Wellington, Diversey, Fullerton, Armitage, Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart (accessible) and Loop stations begins after 7:01 a.m. and continues, every 10 minutes, until after midnight.)
  • From the West Side:
    Take an eastbound O'Hare Blue Line train to Jackson (accessible). Exit the subway station and walk three blocks east on Jackson to Grant Park. (Blue Line trains run every 10-15 minutes, 24 hours per day.)
    or
    Take an eastbound Loop Pink Line, 63rd/Ashland Green Line or East 63rd Green Line train to Adams/Wabash. Walk south one block along Wabash, then east one block along Jackson to Grant Park. (Trains run every 10-15 minutes). (Note: On Sunday Race Day, the first Green Line train leaves Harlem/Lake (accessible) for the Loop at 6:30 a.m. and reaches the downtown Loop at 6:56 a.m.)

    All CTA bus routes are accessible.

  • From the South Side:
    Take a northbound Howard Red Line train to Jackson (accessible). Exit the subway station and walk two blocks east to Grant Park. (Red Line trains run every 8-15 minutes, 24 hours daily.)
    or
    Take a northbound Harlem/Lake Green Line train to Adams/Wabash. Walk south one block along Wabash, then east one block along Jackson to Grant Park. (Note: On Sunday Race Day, the first Green Line train leaves Ashland/63rd (accessible) at 6:22 a.m. and reaches the Loop at 6:47 a.m. The first train leaves East 63rd/Cottage Grove (accessible) at 6:41 a.m. and reaches the Loop at 7:02 a.m.)
  • From the Southwest Side:
    Take a northbound Loop Orange Line train to Library-State/Van Buren (accessible). Exit the station and walk two blocks east on Van Buren to Michigan. Continue east of Michigan and use the pedestrian overpass into Grant Park. (Orange Line trains begin service Sunday Race Day at 5:35 a.m. and operate every 10-20 minutes.)
  • From McCormick Place Hyatt:
    On the morning of the Marathon, CTA bus route #3 King Drive will operate from the McCormick Place Hyatt to the race start in Grant Park. Board the #3 King Drive along the street in front of the entrance to the McCormick Place South Building, directly south of the McCormick Place Hyatt. Service will begin at 6 a.m. and will run every 15 minutes until 8:30 a.m.

Directions to the Health & Fitness Expo at McCormick Place Friday, October 20, and Saturday, October 21, 2006

  • From Downtown Chicago (south of Chicago Avenue):
    Walk to Michigan Avenue and take a southbound #3 King Drive bus to McCormick Place. (Buses run every 7 to 15 minutes.)
  • From the West and Northwest Sides:
    Take any Loop-bound Blue, Brown, Green or Pink line train to Adams/Wabash (Brown, Green, and Pink lines) or Jackson (accessible) (Blue Line). Walk east to Michigan Avenue and transfer to a southbound #3 King Drive bus to McCormick Place. (Buses run every 7 to 15 minutes.)
  • From the Southwest Side:
    Take a Loop-bound Orange Line train to Roosevelt (accessible). Walk east 1 ? blocks to bus stop on the south side of Roosevelt, just east of Michigan Avenue. Board an eastbound #3 King Drive bus to McCormick Place. (Buses run every 7 to 15 minutes.)
  • From the South and North Sides:
    Take any Red Line train to Cermak/Chinatown. Transfer to an eastbound #21 Cermak bus to McCormick Place. (Buses run every 10 to 15 minutes.)
  • From Ogilvie Transportation Center (Metra Union Pacific trains):
    Outside the Washington Street exit, take the eastbound #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison or #56 Milwaukee bus. Exit the bus at the stop between Wabash and Michigan Avenue and transfer to a southbound #3 King Drive bus on Michigan Avenue to McCormick Place. (Buses run every 7-15 minutes.)
  • From Union Station (Amtrak and Metra Milwaukee, BNSF, North Central & SW Service trains):
    Outside the Jackson Street exit, take the eastbound #1 Indiana/Hyde Park, #7 Harrison, #X28 Stony Island Express or #126 Jackson bus. Exit the bus at Michigan Avenue and transfer to a southbound #3 King Drive bus to McCormick Place. (Buses run every 7-15 minutes.)
  • From Millennium Station (Metra Electric & South Shore trains):
    Outside the Randolph Street/Michigan Avenue exit, take the southbound #3 King Drive bus on Michigan Avenue to McCormick Place. (Buses run every 7-15 minutes.)

    Note: Some Metra Electric and South Shore trains serve McCormick Place station. Consult Metra or South Shore schedules at www.metrarail.com or call 312-836-7000.

  • From LaSalle Street Station (Metra Rock Island trains):
    Outside the LaSalle Street exit, walk five blocks east along Van Buren to Michigan Avenue. Take a southbound #3 King Drive bus to McCormick Place.
