CTA Welcomes Easier Way to Pay at Park & Ride Locations

April 2, 2012
No cash for parking? No problem. Chicago Transit Authority customers will now have the convenience of paying for parking at 14 CTA Park & Ride lots using their mobile phones. Parkmobile, a company that processes cashless transactions via mobile phones, allows customers to pay on the go at Park & Ride locations near stations along the Blue, Brown, Green, Orange and Pink Lines.) Payments will be made through the Parkmobile mobile application or by calling Parkmobile directly. Signs will be posted this week at CPS run Park & Ride locations.

Once riders pull into their parking spaces, they can place a phone call or use the mobile application on their web-enabled cell phones to enter their parking space number and begin the transaction. Payments are secure and linked to a credit or debit card. Once your parking session is paid for, Parkmobile will send text alerts about 15 minutes before parking sessions are scheduled to expire.

“This mobile payment method will make for a seamless travel experience for our riders,” said CTA President Forrest Claypool. “This is another example of the CTA using technology to improve and streamline the customer experience.”

Parkmobile is a global industry leader in mobile payments for public and private parking. The CTA bears no cost to implement these services because Parkmobile is a subcontractor of Central Parking System (CPS), which was publically awarded the bid to manage various CTA Park & Ride lots.
