CTA to offer CPS students free rides until schools reopen

October 16, 2019

In support of the City’s efforts to provide resources to Chicago Public Schools students during these school closures, CTA will provide free rides to CPS students until the schools reopen.

The free rides will be available to students during the regular student reduced-fare hours of 5:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. on weekdays. During this time, students do NOT need to tap their farecards on buses or at rail stations.

The free rides will support students going to CPS school buildings, Chicago Public Libraries, Chicago Park District facilities, Safe Haven sites and other community partner locations.

For additional information regarding resources available to students during this time, please visit the CPS District Contingency Plan website.  Be sure to also use the CTA Trip Planning tool to determine the best way to/from these alternative sites for students.
